  1. I'm beginning to think about building my first layout, it will be a small micro layout, possibly as large as 1100mm by 300mm. I have limited space and would like to build a neat unit that can contain the fiddle yard etc when packed away. I would like the layout whilst small in footprint to have depth in terms of height hence the canal and towpath in the plan, and what is envisaged as a series of tall warehouse (4 plus stories) buildings around. The track plan is essentially two long sidings with a runaround and an additional siding (not sure if this is required) to that the layout can also be used as a classic inglenook. I wondered what others thought of this track plan, whether it needs adjustment? Whether this is not prototypical either? I am imagining using a class 26 & class 08 on the layout, with the 26 brining in goods, using the run around, and an 08 shunting around goods vans, probably a mainly box vans, I am imagining this layout is set somewhere between the 70s to early 90s. It's a fairly basic track plan drawing at the moment, i've discovered my 1/4 scale Hornby track pieces, the track will be peco not Hornby. I will when I have time update the plan with a better drawing, Any help or thoughts on this would be very helpful.
  2. Hi, new to this thread, it's been really helpful and convinced me to take the plunge and buy a photon. I ordered a Photon Mono a few days ago with a Wash & Cure Machine 2.0 & 1kg of resin, but so far only the Photon Mono and 1kg of resin has arrived (by separate carriers), is this normal for these to all be sent separately? I've sent a message to AnyCubic, hopefully my Wash & Cure Machine 2.0 is still on its way. Just wondering if anyone had any similar experiences. Nic
  3. Thanks for all the replies so far everyone, very enjoyable and informative to read. I've quickly knocked this up in photoshop (not great quality), but I'm thinking of using this building as a basis for whatever I make for the layout by adding another floor to it. Does anyone thing this would look odd? Thinking of using it in a late 70s to late 80s era layout, would that be incorrect? Thanks for all the help and advice
  4. I've been doing further research and stumbled upon this building, which I feel is like the aesthetic I would like this building to look like, it is Chorley Goods Depot, I can't seem to find any further images of this, so if anyone knows or has any more information that would be great.
  5. I just need half a metre of this, just wondered if anyone had any spare that they'd be willing to sell? Thanks Nic
  6. That worked out a treat, managed to find exactly i what i need!
  7. Paul thank you for this link, i'll have a read later today when I have finished work, this looks very helpful!
  8. In my spare time during this lockdown, I've decided to embark on a small layout with the few bit's and pieces I have lying around, it will be a small shunting yard, and i'd like to create some low relieve tall buildings to give the layout height. I have seen these two kits from Scale Scene which I aesthetically like, more so the corrugated clad building (I know the second is for China Clay and as such not suitable for box vans etc, but I have used it more to illustrate the aesthetic and the canopy). It may be possible with the brick warehouse kit to make it 4 stories high, I'm an architect and good with photoshop skills so could easily extend this, would a larger canopy, in corrugate steel be odd? I was wondering if there were any warehouses that anyone knows exist that are similar to these for distribution and would be taller 4 or 5 stories high etc? I'm looking to build a shunting yard that might have 2 or three of these. If possible i'd like to base these on real examples, so if anyone has links to photos or examples that would be incredibly helpful. Thanks Nic
  9. I was planning on occupying my spare time during lockdown with building a new small layout, I have a few Peco code 100 points that I want to use and need to get some Peco flexible track, only a couple of lengths but see it is out of stock everyone apart from eBay where it is being sold for extortionate prices. I understand Peco have almost entirely closed down and are not manufacturing at the moment. Same for Code 75, which O know won't match but I'd bee prepared to buy matching points if i could get that instead Does anyone know anywhere I could get some or of an alternative that would match that may be available. Thanks for any help
  10. I have been following your work for quite a while now, and as an architectural student/model maker, your work is very familiar to me, I knew you were an Architect!!!! Cracking work, your models are very sectional, I like them a lot! Nic
