Roy - this goes back to the post that I made recently. This will continue to happen no matter what thread iteration or policing you apply to the thread. By the nature of a forum, people naturally want to discuss things - it doesn't matter how many times you point out the so-called 'rules', it's part of being human to question. You can either moan at those who do, or you can provide a platform for them to facilitate it whilst keeping to the aim of the thread in keeping bargains at the top. As previously mentioned, you would need a fundamental change to the structure to achieve that in my opinion - I floated the idea recently, but the general consensus was that the current format works and so should be left alone.

It's a case of accepting that you will have to deal with it I'm afraid and come to terms with the fact that you will have to wade through posts of non bargain material. I don't like it either, but it is what it is.

every  post about the problem, does not solve the problem - it is the problem.....   :)

It is really simple  - dont post without a bargain or to update with pertinent info about a bargain....  :)

    oh er hang on:

    Cheap  IC buffet  anyone?

My DJ Models 1361 arrived today, gave it a good two hours running in but it stalls frequently at low speeds... needless to say I’m returning it, but wanted to ask if anyone else experienced this?

Trying to work out whether I’ve just got a dud and to ask for a replacement or save my cash for a different small engine...

I would suggest asking the the DJM section.  Though given the demise of that vendor i would expect return.

    In other news some bargains:

    cheap parcels vans:

Rails also seem to have quite a few sub £25 quid  Bachmann Mk1s in various shades...

    The intention of posting

I struggle to grasp what you intentions of posting are in this thread - i recall lots of comment and no bargains?   Perhaps there is an improvement opportunity here ;)

lets keep it on topic  - for everyone to benefit.

I don't model in O - but if these bargains keep coming and making it little more to do that OO i may need a bigger house.

O Gauge  Shunter  @ £175  today at Rails of Sheffield.

A battery RC model railway system is available now, but they use bulky batteries which do not last very long.

This makes it far more practical easier to provide power via rails/wires. Dare I say it - just like the real thing?

Not sure the real thing provides power via the running rails....

  7. Exactly, portion working has long been necessity in the south, yet seems to be regarded with the upmost hostility by those based elsewhere.

OK, I get that the lack of end gangways on the units are a complication but I'm sure most users will adapt to the situation.

I think you forget the WCML sees plenty of portion working from virgin and TPE.   All without drama.

  8. Google, Amazon ( Prime) and Office 365  all offer bundles that include photo hosting for  around less than $99  that include a significant amount of other services within that charge.   I think the free photo hosting model has collapsed.

  9. The bit of this topic that bemuses me is the futility of running trains to Blackpool?   It is just a DSS  "holding pen" these days.   The council believed blackpool was an undefeatable attraction -  they didnt need the M55  so it stopped outside the town.    They let the airport fizzle out  (which with no motorway link and no rail link  - both of which could have been done) so bar driving the kids through the illuminations there is no reason to go there.

If they were to run more open access services on the WCML  then surely Preston-Euston  makes much more sense - bring platform 7 back in to use.  The electric 319's to blackpool every half hour will be a huge upgrade from the past and will more than surfice for that traffic. Run them 8 car in the summer peak if need be - but there is sweet FA business traffic for blackpool.

  10. So unless they are blessed with a  lot of top end acceleration - i.e. above 75/80mph - on diesel power (which they might well have of course?) they are inevitably going to be slower than HSTs on the West of England, via either principal route.   Information on Real Time Trains (and I accept its potential inaccuracies for obvious reasons) definitely indicates that they cannot equal HST point-to-point times where the linespeed is 125mph.  But the critical tests of performance will really be on the uneven speed profiles near to their maximum speed on diesel and their ability to maintain existing times in those conditions.

given the power profile tunability  of modern turbo diesels in all forms vs those of the 70's 80' 90's or even 00's i think we have to wait for real world performance before we judge. I am not disputing that there may be an issue.  I am however suggesting we wait for proof before we burn them :)
