  1. It really wouldnt. Have you been to Crewe recently? Yes Pendo's feature, along side many other types of MU - both D and E, plus 67's 57's 37's 66's 86's and many others passing through... Its far from a one unit location.
  2. There isnt much requirement to lower or raise the Pan on the ECML though is there?
  3. My post was with a wry smile and tongue moving towards the cheek - I know it isn't easy to do.
  4. I've often wondered why they don't put HST power cars back on the Mk4 sets in lieu of the DVT's as that would give some additional plug door hybrid sets that could go all the way to Aberdeen - obv once the HST current uses are finished and the Mk3's have been converted to timer wagons / parcels / roller disco ( delete as applicable )
  5. You say that but there have been many "special run" commissions for varients of 37 and 47 for Bachmann that will all have contributed "bits" of detail / improvments allowing more varients like the 37/5 and 37/7s.... We should be grateful that all of the manufacturers give us models to the standard they do! While it would be boring if there was nothing to fix for modellers, at the same time we should take a pause and remember how bad some of the 70s stuff was - Lima 33 for example!
  6. I think regarding the twin pack scenario, people will have to make their choice buy or dont buy. If lots dont buy and the stock doesnt move I would expect this type of L.E. twin pack not to be repeated. If however they all sell out then clearly the market has spoken. Perhaps we will see different L.E. choices in future.. or as I suspect, these will sell out and thus the twin pack will continue - as with every product the quality fo the end product will determine its success. B) Personally I would like someone to do a twin pack of ltd edition "fixed" Heljan 86's with speakers in both but only a decoder+ motor in 1 for running my intermodal traffic... however this strays towards froth...
  7. Sounds like a great opportunity - think I would be more than pleased to get the blue pair - to bolster my Blue/NSE era stock... Think I will have to thin out my era options one day.... 80's west highland 90's/ 00's WCML and 80's S/E is probably overkill
  8. Very sad news indeed, my thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP.
  9. I have one of those... I better get it advertised!!
  10. This layout is fantastic - I plan to get over to see it @ Rawtenstall if I can.
  11. Well thats a constructive way to move the debate on:rolleyes: I think this thread is inherantly doomed as football is about passion which is (rightly or wrongly) barely half a pace from anger and hatred in the heat of the moment. Not sure a model rail forum is the place for it to be discussed tbh. With an upcoming Tyne and Wear derby this weekend perhaps 50000 people inside a stadium will be immature and wrong at the same time.
  12. hope this isnt a repost.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LIMA-CL-60-DCC-DCC-SOUND-FREIGHTLINER-LIGHTS-/180574813639?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2a0b18fdc7 I'm all for a bit of experimentation but this is a little weird with it's aftermarket lights and sound that isnt proper sound... having said that this is the ebay seller that used to use 5mm led's to add dcc lights so maybe he is getting better....?
  13. I am also following the thread... as above dont normally post to that effect but rest assured your work is admired and dare I say "envy" creeps in too.. Wish I had the time / skills to emulate your scenics. Keep it up
  14. I'm curious as to what train of thought could make you think the seller is in any way genuine?
  15. Ribble Bank Main Line is a fictional layout in OO with a modern image theme spanning mid 80's through to now. I am sure I will upset the purists but I am more interested in enjoying the models in my fictional world than I am hung up about prototypical operation. I will build a much smaller "correct" layout one day but for now this is very much a playground. The layout baseboards were built in my parents attic space in about 1990 (when I was still 16!) and are basically flat bar a 1:36 gradient about 6" wide on either side to clear the water tank with the 2 main line loops. Originally it was Zero 1 operated but on deciding we would "re-commsion" the layout earlier this year we went DCC. Rightly or wrongly we have an Elite unit which despite a few annoyances like latching buttons is generally doing what we wish for now. The trackwork has been changed numerous times however we are working towards a more settled plan.... nominally the "south" bank (half of loop) is under my control and the "north" bank under my fathers. I have attached a revised track plan for the south bank as it stand today (please click on it for full size) it is not to scale but the length odf the south bank is approx 27ft. The main terminus station is called Lower Crappleton. This allows for small " heritge/ commuter stations" Crappleton Parkway out besides the main line, and also Upper Crappleton which will be over the water tank to the right of the plan. On the North bank the layout is still running its old config but my father assures me that work on Twathampton Junction will begin shortly. This entry is to keep the blog upto date with the thread.... (Thanks Andy for fixing the date issue...)
  16. Having grown up in carnforth I now have a quandry.... I model modern image.. but carnforth tower still stands? Can I get away with it?
  17. A couple of snaps of the plasticard base for the Bachmann shed. As previously mentioned the base is being painted with railmatch concrete.
  18. Well I havent taken a great deal of new pictures for this... the posting time is fudged due to the s/w error on RMWeb atm.... I have made a plasticard "concrete base" for my Bachmann shed and done a little more ballasting. Painted in Railmatch concrete with some light weathering for the track centres - would appreciate any advice on what I should / shouldnt do to get it just right.
  19. What are you using to power the lights... the 15v DC on the back of my Elite toasts them?
  20. Thinks I might have to actually stop playing trains and try and get some more of the layout built... Backscenes need to go on tomorrow - if only to make the pictures look better - though you might catch a few pics in my gallery with todays "plonk". Have done a little more ballasting but for some reason todays doesnt seem to be sticking like the last attempts - which is odd as am using exactly the same pva/water mix. Really should tray some of that Klear stuff. A new arrival today was 57307 "Lady Penelope" acquired on a whim from the 2nd hand cabinet at Transport Models in Preston. Lovely model - pig to remove the bodyshell due to having more screws in odd places than I have seen on other 57/47 models.
