I must say as a very vocal local critic of this, I am delighted that it has been scrapped. It gives our local highstreet and shops a chance, which Aldi going in there, removing a huge amount of carparking space and footfall from Coop (the only supermarket I shop in) would not benefit the town at all. Fantastic news and shows that if local residents band together, stuff like this can be stopped.

  1. I've just about had it with aerosol cans of Railmatch and Precision paints gumming up, despite my having cleaned them after previous use and stored them carefully in accordance with manufacturers recommendations. They still gum up.

Do they airbrush nicely, John? I've been using enamels for weathering and Ammo By Mig Acrylics for some work. It is always good to see what other modellers are using.

Oh that is good to know - I have a can of Game's Workshop Primer which has done the same thing, despite being cleaned and stored upside down after use.

  4. Today will be spent mostly avoiding doing things...  How much mischief can I achieve in a 6 hour working day?

I spent most of the day involving various children in 'pranks' on various members of staff... chairs were moved, a vacuum cleaner hidden and ontop of that, I did manage to teach 5 high-quality lessons...

I could... I also could hide various members of the admin teams chairs across the school... :D

  9. Amazing number of people clapping here! Thank you to all NHS workers and volunteers: it makes one proud to be British.

Ourobus - the NHS staff are simply amazing and the crap you put up with simply isn't fair. I really can't thank you all enough. Stay safe and keep well. Kind regards.

  10. 17 children remain this afternoon out of 29 in my class and this has been replicated across our two-form entry school. Most are off following the government advice. So, when do the mass closures start!?

We have had no official word from Ofsted! Some rumours, but nothing firm!

I've been told this morning should I be in as I'm asthmatic! lol

Re work, yeah the amount I've been sending home has steadily increased of late! At least I don't have to mark it though! Light at the end of the tunnel!

CK- that is already in the pipe line re essential worker children and has been for a while.

My concern now is schools will act a step a breeding ground as we have 20-30 children in a small space, playground mingling and dinners in the hall. Not to mention 400 children using 16 loos.

We have 3 teachers, 6 TAs and a member of the office team off due to illness and now are struggling to ensure we follow legal requirements for chasing pupil absenteeism as we don't have the physical staff to make phone calls and check the answer machine.

And on on top of that, we might get a call form Ofsted and are still being expected to deliver the same level of education that we would do during peace time!

      Something has to give!

I haven't sat in the standard class seat, I will before departing though! Not impressed with the arm rests either!

  15. If anyone has a Malcolm Mitchell 45xx 4mm kit or a 55xx 4mm kit, please can you send me a PM. Ideally, un-built. I would also consider the Churchward Models 45xx kit too. I'm happy to pay sensible prices.

I've wanted them for ages! I didn't realise David was retiring, otherwise I would have bought them last year. Anyway, hey ho.
