  1. There used to be a topic in this section with the above title but as it was 2012 it seems to have been archived. I am looking for access to the photos that were posted on the thread that showed a close up view of the Fairburn rear steps, as Bachmann have left them off the model. Does anyone have a copy of these pics that they can share on here or is it possible to access them in an archive somewhere? Thanks Pete
  2. Thanks for the responses. I have been dealing with these suppliers for many years and aware of them. What I am looking for is opinions on who makes the most realistic steam and vacuum pipes for locos and coaches. Ta
  3. Detailing a steam loco for the first time (taking a break from D&E), and was wondering who the go-to suppliers are for the best representations of loco vacuum brake pipes and loco steam pipes? I am detailing a Bachmann Fairburn and the supplied pipework looks a bit puny compared to prototype pics. Ta Pete
  4. Just about recovered from our weekend in Glasgow exhibiting my layout "Brunswick Yard". It was great to engage with so many visitors and chat about the layout. It ran well all weekend thanks to my team from The DEFine crew. I got to see some of the show on Sunday and thought that there were some really good layouts this year. It was also great to see so many friends from the hobby and have a catch up. Many thanks to Ian Porteous and the MRS team who organised the event and kept us safe over the weekend. Cheers Pete
  5. A summary and some photos from the DEFine Modellers Day held on 6th Jan 2024 can be found on our blog. https://definemodellers.wordpress.com/ Cheers Pete
  6. Thanks to everyone that either exhibited, demonstrated or attended the DEFine Modellers Day on Saturday. The feedback has been very positive and numbers were up on previous events. It is always a great way to start a new year and the social nature of the event was very much in evidence this year. The DEFine Blog will be updated soon with a report on the day and some photos. Thanks Again Pete, DEFine Modellers

  10. I have a daft question regarding operating this inspection saloon in DCC. I still can't get mine to work properly having tried 2 types of decoder. Does Caroline need to be set up and lighting changed on a programme track or can it be done on the main? For example, if I have a loco address on my NCE power cab, and it is coupled to Caroline, if I chose F0-4 I get sounds and horns etc from the loco, not lighting on Caroline. Is there a video or detailed instruction somewhere on how to get this to work? As you can probably guess I am a plug and play guy when it comes to DCC. :-) Pete
  11. Finally got around to putting a decoder in mine, the LAIS 860019. When I put the coach on the track all of the lights come on (except the trailing reds). I can't get any of the functions to work to operate the lights and the NCE handset says it cant find the decoder if I try to interrogate it. Anyone else had this? What am I missing? Is this decoder no good for this coach? Cheers Pete
  12. Hi, Does anyone have a copy of the current S Kits catalogue in PDF form that they can send me please? If not I will have to request one by snail mail. Cheers Pete
  13. Thanks for your kind comments. The only show booking it has at the moment is for Glasgow MR Scotland in Feb 24. It may be at the DEFine Modellers Day in January but layouts havent been confirmed yet. Cheers Pete
  14. Big thanks to @billywhizz Bill Wilson for co-operating my layout "Brunswick Yard" this weekend. It was its first outing as a OO layout following its conversion from P4 and I was pleased with its behaviour. It was great to meet so many people that came to look and talk about aspects of the layout. Guy and his team also deserve a lot of credit for making it all happen and making sure it all ran smoothly. Now time for a rest. Pete
  15. Up until now it has not, but BRM have made contact and would like to feature it. Pete
  16. Thanks Will (and Paul) I got directed to Flikr where a corridor end shot resides but these are excellent references too Pete
  17. Does anyone have any pictures they can share of the corridor end of the Network Rail New Measurement Train power cars? I cant find any on-line. Cheers Pete

  20. DEFine are pleased to announce that we will be holding our fifth DEFine Modellers Day on Saturday the 7th of January 2023. The venue is as previous years, Risley Village Hall, Risley, Derbyshire, DE72 3SU (beside the church). Layouts attending and demonstrations will be communicated in due course. As in previous events, there will be no traders present. There is lots of parking and refreshments will be available on the day. Doors open at 10am and close at 4pm. The venue can be reached within 5 mins off J25 of the M1. Take exit (Bostocks Lane) heading for Risley and then left at the lights on to A5010. The Village Hall will be signposted about half a mile along on the right hand side. Any changes/additions etc. will be communicated ahead of the event and we will keep our blog updated with any more news and reminders nearer the date. We hope you can come along and enjoy the day. Pictures and coverage of previous events can be found in the blog archive https://definemodellers.wordpress.com/ The DEFine Team
  21. No mention in the spec this time of P4/EM compatibility. Will drop in wheel sets be available as per the Deltic project Fran? Pete
  22. Just to confirm, the DEFine event planned for this weekend (15th Jan) is cancelled. The blog update is now in place as it had got stuck as a draft post and not published. DEFine Team
  23. DEFine regret to announce that we have decided to CANCEL the planned DEFine Modellers Day due to be held on the 15th January. This is mainly down to the current restrictions that apply to public gatherings and the increasing Covid-19 infection rates being experienced. We will continue to assess the situation and hopefully host the event at the earliest opportunity. Thank You The DEFine Team
