  1. Thank you. I think that i will either look to source a Lima power car complete, or a Hornby version that has the advantage of being DCC ready. It will be a simple case of swapping the body that I currently have. All that remains is the challenge of finding one on e-bay for reasonable money....... Regards, Paul
  2. Hi there, I was wondering if the Lima motor would clip into the Hornby bogie frame once the plastic top mount is removed. I'm trying to establish if the chassis will allow the Lima motor to clip in to the channels (assuming it has got them) that will allow the bogie to slide left/right at each end. Regards, Paul
  3. Hi Ian, thanks for your reply. I have a broken Lima power chassis and would be able to get dimension sfrom that. But in essence, I'm looking to find out if the Hornby chassis with the top plastic motor mount removed would work. Regards, Paul
  4. Does anyone know if the Hornby Class 101 Power Chassis will take the Lima powered bogie as a direct fit, or if any modifications need to be made. In essence, do the bogie tabs at each end of the Lima bogie fit into the channel of the bogie frame to allow it to pivot? Any help/advice would be most appreciated. Thanks, Paul
  5. Hi there, I'm looking for a Lima Class 101 plastic chassis for the power car (or failing that, a complete power car). I have tried ebay but have only found one with an asking price of £29 with postage which seems a bit excessive for a piece of plastic and weight. Is anyone able to point me in the direction of any potential stockists of Lima body/chassis parts? Thanks, Paul
  6. I've got a load of railway vids that I was planning on taking to the recycling centre tomorrow............................unless they can be converted into something else like beer tokens.
  7. Welcome back Jerry. Looking forward to seeing your latest micro layout. Regards, Paul
  8. I was thinking along the same lines as Stubby, but admit that I can hear the sound of tumbleweed........................LOL.
  9. The title of this implies to me that the business is going into receivership or ceasing trading rather than being ramped up by the new owner. Could I suggest that the title is changed to something clearer for the benefit of the new business owner and its customers. Thanks, Paul
  10. It is very sad news. I'm sure that anyone who reads the article about the Maersk Honam will realise the dangers that a ship's crew face whilst at sea.
  11. I couldn't find this article to begin with so I thought I'd post a link. Very impressive. I'm a big fan of micro layouts: http://nevardmedia.blogspot.co.uk/2018/01/layout-in-box.html
  12. But it wouldn't have been as entertaining to watch. Besides you can't ask a group of Engineers to throw down a load of kerbs and some planks? We're talking about British engineering pride here..........
  13. Hi Jason, Agree completely, especially re: Mainline catalogues. With the dawn of the internet, you'd think that Hornby could produce something both artistic and informative and leave the standard images to their online catalogue. Regardless, Paul aka Intercity125
  14. I agree completely. The catalogues from 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 were (and still are) my favourites, especially 1981's Ticket to Ride. The problem with the current catalogues for the past decade or so is they are in the same format and have lost their appeal. Come on Hornby, do something radical and artistic for a change and I might be tempted to buy your catalogues once more. Paul aka Intercity125
  15. Couldn't have put it better myself. Some other excellent comments on here too about not trying to cram too much on either. Personally I like the simple track plan in post number 3 on here. A small branch line terminus and goods platform is enough to provide operational interest. I also like that particular plan as the track is angled and provides viewing interest. Regards, Paul aka Intercity125
  16. I must admit that I'm a little confused by the postings on here about the alleged demise of the Engine Shed. John Storey's post clearly says that it has been postponed but it will be back in the New Year with more exclusive news. This seems to be a perfectly reasonable explanation to me and I guess Hornby want to focus on the 2018 product launch, with a bigger engine shed announcement than usual in January. I find it hard to believe that people jump to various conclusions and speculation just because one issue of the engine shed has been postponed.
  17. I thought it was a thread about discussing modifying the Triang/Hornby brick viaduct..........
  18. The Post Office should check one in ten parcels at the counter. Anyone who doesn't correctly disclose what's inside their parcel should be heavily fined..................or be given a custodial sentence. That'll learn 'em. Mr Angry of Rushden
  19. I've just spent the past minute crying with laughter. The Hillman Hunter proved to be a good money spinner for Rootes/Chrysler/Peugeot. Seems that we're hell bent on sending our cast offs to areas of the world prone to instability. Perhaps the Pacer and the Hillman Hunter have a calming effect on the population.....................
  20. Is this Britain's way of improving relations with Iran? A brave step me thinks...........
  21. Plenty of room in on the Indian Railbus for another 50 passengers. Probably why they haven't got any roof mounted pods on them..........
  22. Personally I think Hornby needs to look at its long term strategy and look at owning its production facilities rather than being at the mercy of subcontractors and the availability (or lack of) production slots. Giving modellers the products they want and in a reasonable timeframe will reduce the likelihood of competition/duplication by other manufacturers/retailers, help restore sales, control costs, and return Hornby to profitability. The majority shareholder will have to invest in such facilities against the background of high debt which has arisen as a result of poor decisions made in the past. The Hornby brand name is one of the most recognised brands in the UK and held in esteem by modellers and children/parents alike. It's now time for Hornby's majority shareholder to come up with a cunning plan to guarantee survival. Regards, B Aldrick
  23. Love the plan. I look forward to following your progress on here. I'm a great fan of micro layouts. Paul (aka Intercity125)
  24. Hi Dutch Master, Thanks for explaining the problem to me. My other locos (LGB) appear to be OK. It's just the Piko BR 80 that wants to be naughty. At some point I will convert to DCC but for the time being it will have to remain on DC. Many thanks, Paul
  25. I recently purchased a Piko BR 80 Locomotive (product code 37200) secondhand from a member of the G Scale Society. The loco is boxed and hardly used. In fact it runs very well on my DC controlled garden railway. However, the loco appears to have an issue with the directional lights/lamps. When the loco goes forward the front LEDs are working perfectly, whilst the rear lights (which should remain off) flicker. The same problem occurs when the loco goes in reverse. The problem is exacerbated when it crosses LGB pointwork, but it does continue to flicker along the rest of the track. I am using a 1 Amp LGB old style controller with the transformer/speed control combined in one unit (as opposed to the new style train set controller). Can anyone give me their thoughts or advice on what might be causing this. Many thanks, Paul
