  1. Why would they put down that it contains a wand if it doesn't ? That doesn't sound like a printing error to me 🤔
  2. There shouldn't be any need to cobble together anything. I saw the matter of the exhaust mentioned quite some time ago & there was plenty of time for the manufacturer to get it sorted. If you charge a premium price you need to provide a premium product.
  3. I suppose that's a chance I'll have to take. If I miss out then so be it. We seem to have gone from manufacturers bringing models to market that modellers may want to buy to this pre-order frenzy where modellers are expected to order often years in advance of a model being produced because of the fear of losing out. If you are asking someone to pay out £200 for a model then I think its only fair to provide them with proper photographs of its interior, especially when the interior will be highly visible because of the amount of windows in the model.
  4. Are there any photographs of the interior of the model available ? EDIT: I asked Rails if photographs of the model interior were available & this was the reply. Hi Tony It is really difficult to photograph the interior of models so they are generally just taken of the exterior. Kind regards. So we'll just have to wait until someone does a review on the model.
  5. I have used them for years under my layout without any failures. The important thing is to use the right size connector for the wire being used & to use the correct tools for the job. These can also be used especially for above baseboard connections. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08B69R7W3/?coliid=I1ASKOF0I98NZN&colid=2874WHUJK3IQ4&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0868JGP5K/?coliid=I1K4FSJ6V248QK&colid=2874WHUJK3IQ4&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B088BQM4VM/?coliid=I258Y971UHQ9BR&colid=2874WHUJK3IQ4&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
  6. Never had a problem with the diamond crossings but thanks for the suggestion. I contacted DCC Concepts & they sorted the problem for me. It seems that trying to control the switches on two Ip Digital point motors was causing crosstalk between the two. They provided a diagram which used the SP2 switch on one point motor to control the second point motor as a slave. That worked fine with a single push button. Push it once to move the points to curve & push it again the switch them back to straight again.
  7. Hi Everyone. I fitted two IP Digital point motors as part of a crossover junction. Given the same DCC address they work fine but my problem is with using the inbuilt switches on a local control panel to switch both point motors together. I ran wiring from both point motor build in switches back to a double throw momentary switch on the panel. It will switch both motors fine but then after 20 or 30 seconds the points motors will switch direction randomly. Sometimes one motor will switch direction & on other occasions both motors will switch. I tried inserting diodes as per a diagram posted but it made no difference. I also tried giving the point motors different DCC addresses but no go. Disconnecting the switch & the motors behave normally with my NCE Power Pro system. If I connect just one point motor with the switch the point motors behave normally but not with the switch wiring from the two motors connected ? I installed the second set of motors with the same result. They operate properly with my Dcc unit & one point can be changed with a switch but not the two together. Any ideas guys ? Cheers. Tony. Picture of the junction enclosed below. I have marked the two points concerned. Cobalt_long_SW_wires.pdf
  8. Try this. https://www.roads-and-rails.co.uk/collections/steam-dcc-sound-decoders/products/loksound-5-decoder-for-812-class-locomotive?variant=37024746111142
  9. Using Harlequin's image above where the red lines are. Two per each point 4 x 2 + 8 in total.
  10. I think its hard to find reviews which don't carry a bias of some sort. I prefer to call it honesty. Reading some reviews its clear to see who's paying the bill On the subject of price increases. I think if the price of every day items had gone up similar to model railway items then a lot of us would find ourselves in the workhouse. A certain level of price increase is expected & accepted but increases like we see in model railway items will do nothing but decrease the interest in the hobby & put manufacturers out of business. Looking at some of the prices mentioned in Hornby's 2022 range just made me think ? In your dreams Simon, in your dreams.
  11. I just got a loco from Rails & there was a sticker attached "TESTED MM" so somebody had a go. Maybe it was because the order was for outside the UK ?
  12. If its bad enough to worry you then I would send it back asap.
  13. That's great John. You were one of the lucky ones. The problems were written about extensively. Tony.
  14. The first issue of the Garratts were a disaster with multiple problems. I had three myself, all of which had to be returned. Some had a far bigger number of them. The second issue was a much improved model.
  15. I notice of the photos of the model on the Rails site, none of them show the tender top looking down on it. I wonder why
  16. Love this layout. Had the pleasure of seeing it at Railex a few years ago.
  17. There's also a photo there if you scroll to the right which shows the top edge of the tender.
  18. Those stanchions really look horrendous but I have a photo taken in preservation which shows them that thickness from the door level down. Maybe that's where the idea came from ? I don't know who took the photo so I don't want to put it up here without permission.
  19. I see International orders for these models won't be going out until after Christmas.
  20. Thanks for the photos. Are the upright cab handrails plastic or metal ?
