  1. I was supposing more than plain track beyond the bridge. Agree that one box may have gone by the 60's (and some track). Ed
  2. It is 00 in as much as 00 trains can run on it. Ed
  3. Yes, I've noticed that-there always seems to be one missing where the lengths join each other. Ed
  4. Has anyone tried the magnetic couplings as in the new BRM DVD? They are unobtrusive, and I like the idea but it seems to me that the magnets are too strong so 1) difficult to uncouple 2) when a loco approaches a wagon on a siding the wagon will push away due to the magnets unless it is being held. I have to say I thought the review could have been much better. Ed
  5. So looking at this it appears that when you push, you are using the loops rather than the buffers? Don't the loops tend to ride over each other? Ed
  6. If we are getting pernickety about fish plates, does that mean we are cutting track into scale 60' (or what ever) lengths, or is everyone else doing this already? If so, do you bend it first and then cut it or vice versa? I have always had trouble with joints on curves with flexi to the extent that I tend to use settrack now. It is typical that Peco bring this out now, just after I have started dabbling in 0 gauge to get bullhead rail! Ed
  7. There would be another box on the other side of the bridge for sighting reasons. That would control the home signals and any further points. A project for when you finish the corner section. Except you've probably finished it by now! Cracking stuff Eds
  8. My subs copy of RM arrived yesterday and I was surprised not to find a copy of this inside. Indeed on a first quick read through I could find no mention of it. Ed
  9. Nice to see this in the new BRM. Gave an over-view which was easy to read, problem is I'm now trawling through twenty odd thousand pages looking for stuff! Ed

Have you noticed any clearance issues with the spacers gone? Ed
  11. Why the holes in the wings? Ed
  12. The problem with compasses is that you tend to end up with straight-bend-straight. Transition curves look SOO much better. On a small layout I'm not even sure that dead straight track has a place. Ed

So that's where "Gronk" comes from-GROan and cloNKed. Ed
  14. I'd suggest that a Freezer plan for 6x4 needs at least 7x5, more if you have it. The Settrack plans ought to work and some of Paul Lunn's designs look intriguing. Ed
  15. What is the little brassy/coppery thing next to the smoke box door? Ed
  16. If they charge much more than for FB then they ain't gonna sell much, especially with all the competitors now. I don't know, but how does the price of the concrete or steel-sleepered track compare with the "normal" stuff? Ed
  17. Back when I joined this forum it was an "in" joke to talk about someone releasing a Blue Pullman. Bachmann did, and ever since it has been raining fabulous models. Never had it so good as the man said. Ed
  18. Yes, thanks, I enjoyed that and will have another look later. No problems accessing it for this IT numpty. Ed

A dab of graphite grease? Ed
  20. I don't remember Airfix doing any loco's apart trom the ex-Kitmaster ones. They did goods wagons and "lineside" items. Kitmaster did loco's, coaches and a motorised van so you could (if you were better at building kits than me) make the loco's move. Ed

A few questions from someone who hasn't seen one yet. Is it a "wonderful model", or a very good one at a good price? Is it, say, as good as the Hornby 00 one? As I said, I haven't seen or touched one yet and I bought my Bachmann one before I saw the Hornby one. Are the blue/black ones painted, or moulded in blue/black plastic? Surely logically the cab interior light should if anything be on when stationary and off when in motion? Finally, any news of when my pre-ordered green one (possibly with a black bonnet) will be arriving? Cheers Ed
  22. Yes,but people (including me) buy stuff from Amazon knowing that they treat their non-employees like sh!t so we can save a few bob on stuff. Bit like our trains being made by low-paid people in China. And we wonder why we've got no industry left. I'm all right Jack, pull up the ladder. Ed
  23. People have asked why passengers didn't get the driver's attention. Am I correct in thinking that the driver sits behind glass in his/her own cubicle? In any case, this is stiff-upper lip Britain where we don't like to make a fuss. Seriously. Secondly, why does this system have drivers at all? It was built well after the driverless DLR and some LUL lines where the driver is apparently only there to "reassure" the passengers. Ed
