  1. Thanks, the Six Ashes is a little bit further on, the pub in Enville is the Cat, i was in there on Saturday night, and the wife and i had our wedding breakfast there
  2. the layout is 15" diameter and the track is scratch built using i think, code 50 flat bottom rail
  3. a 0-9 pizza layout representing a 15" gauge estate railway, on a 15" diameter board
  4. smashing bit of modelling, Hamish Macbeth and all ! here's a bit of inspiration, this photo has been responsible for at least 3 Kyleish layouts
  5. having read I a lot of comments on this subject, and been privileged to know some additional information, the problem is not the lack of young people getting involved in the hobby, but the lack of young people who have the skills or the aptitude to carry it out running a large exhibition
  6. Clun Castle, the terminus of the Clun Valley Light railway, don't know how the class P got there
  7. Visit to Warley NEC and looking for the wow factor, first, lots of moaning about parking charges, these are set by which ever body, contractor, sub contractor, sub sub contractor, and whoever else can make money out of it, and not the show hosts. Entrance price, cheaper than a premier league football match and much more entertaining. Now, just to add, the event is organized by a club, not a publisher, or a profit making promoter, so 100% of the fractional profit will go directly back into the hobby. So, having said that, what did I think of it, Quality of exhibits, good, quality of traders abysmal, the small to medium sized traders have been priced out of the event, which has left this kind of detached trade show. So layout wise, now this is not derogatory of any of the exhibits, but I found it difficult to pick out one with the wow factor, Bron Hebog, perhaps, there was a very nice circular 3mm layout woes name I don't know, sorry, but my pick of the show was Copenhagen fields, a layout which is more or less 40 years old. It sums up the state of the hobby, its more to do with ownership than imaginative art, come on, use this absolutely superb RTR stuff as a gift to creativity and not a possession ( the manufacturers will love me) overall, thanks to Warley club for putting on the event
  8. Thanks, set not to far away, from you, the area is just about clinging on to a little industry, on the aptly names Pear tree lane
  9. Thanks for the nice comments, the chap waiting for the pub to open is Cyril, its 6 in the afternoon and he needs to get his 8 pints in before he clocks on at the foundry for the night shift! Search my name, handle whatever it is, and you should find some more of my modelling
  10. don't know if i have posted tis on before, anyway, Blackbrook halt, the Black country
  11. as you will probably know, the traditional post exhibition debrief was held at Ma Pardoes
  12. for those who have not seen the opening ceremony https://www.facebook.com/reel/778096233983125
  13. Hi all a big thanks to every one who visited our show yesterday and made it a success, there was a issue with car parking, something we had no control over, but we have already taken the problem up with the site management, who have assured us that it won't happen next year. I would also like to take the opportunity to thanks every one who contributed to the show, the club members, exhibitors, and the catering team. One last thing, something that needs to be said, Dave Stringfellow has now hung up the exhibitors hat, he has certainly had an impact by having moved our shows from the old community centre to our venue for the last two years, again thanks Gary Hinson CHMRC Chairman
  14. personally i have two exhibits, Blackbrook, halt, as already mentioned and the smallest layout in my collection "Enville hall" an 0-9 pizza layout
  15. Attended the show yesterday as a club exhibitor, overall a good show, put on by the Stafford team, there looks like there are accounts of it been poorly attended, but the large isles diluted the crowds, if I have a observation, its the smaller exhibits and often the gems, of the show, are lost in the vastness of the thing.
  16. Less than two weeks to go. a real Black country feel to the show this year, with Jim Smith Writes "Brettell road" making its first appearance in its extended form, and my very own "Blackbrook Halt"
