    Hello,

My wife and I think this is wonderful fair play to you, you've really created something with just so much atmosphere.

Enville ... "The Six Ashes Pub" is that right?

    Cheers - Jim

Thanks, the Six Ashes is a little bit further on, the pub in Enville is the Cat, i was in there on Saturday night, and the wife and i had our wedding breakfast there

  2. Visit to Warley NEC and looking for the wow factor, first, lots of moaning about parking charges, these are set by which ever body, contractor, sub contractor, sub sub contractor, and whoever else can make money out of it, and not the show hosts. Entrance price, cheaper than a premier league football match and much more entertaining. Now, just to add, the event is organized by a club, not a publisher, or a profit making promoter, so 100% of the fractional profit will go directly back into the hobby.

So, having said that, what did I think of it, Quality of exhibits, good, quality of traders abysmal, the small to medium sized traders have been priced out of the event, which has left this kind of detached trade show.

So layout wise, now this is not derogatory of any of the exhibits, but I found it difficult to pick out one with the wow factor, Bron Hebog, perhaps, there was a very nice circular 3mm layout woes name I don't know, sorry, but my pick of the show was Copenhagen fields, a layout which is more or less 40 years old. It sums up the state of the hobby, its more to do with ownership than imaginative art, come on, use this absolutely superb RTR stuff as a gift to creativity and not a possession ( the manufacturers will love me)

overall, thanks to Warley club for putting on the event

Lovely modelling... I grew up in Langley Green, even into the 1980's you could still find areas with this atmosphere (mostly sans railway, sadly). It reminds me of the area near the old drop foundries by the crossing (now a massive housing estate).

Thanks, set not to far away, from you, the area is just about clinging on to a little industry, on the aptly names Pear tree lane

Beautifully observed modelling, full of atmosphere.  I particularly like the wonky fencing and the texture of the roadway but my favourite is the fella paused at the door of the pub looking down at the cat.  Superb.

If I have one criticism it's the Austin / Morris traversing the level crossing which is a bit of a modelling cliche, but that's a very personal view.  I'd love to see more of your work.

Thanks for the nice comments, the chap waiting for the pub to open is Cyril, its 6 in the afternoon and he needs to get his 8 pints in before he clocks on at the foundry for the night shift!

Search my name, handle whatever it is, and you should find some more of my modelling

While you're talking to the venue about car parking, can you also mention toilets?  A tiny one-trap-wonder (presumably the same for the ladies) for an entire exhibition really isnt enough and as it's a school - sorry; Learning Campus -  there must be plenty more on the premises.

Apart from that it was a very good venue and an excellent show.  I'd be hard-pressed to pick a favourite layout.

Hi, note  taken about the toilets , glad you enjoyed the show

  6. Hi all

a big thanks to every one who visited our show yesterday and made it a success, there was a issue with car parking, something we had no control over, but we have already taken the problem up with the site management, who have assured us that it won't happen next year.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thanks every one who contributed to the show, the club members, exhibitors, and the catering team.

One last thing, something that needs to be said, Dave Stringfellow has now hung up the exhibitors hat, he has certainly had an impact by having moved our shows from the old community centre to our venue for the last two years,

    again

    thanks

  7. Attended the show yesterday as a club exhibitor, overall a good show, put on by the Stafford team, there looks like there are accounts of it been poorly attended, but the large isles diluted the crowds, if I have a observation, its the smaller exhibits and often the gems, of the show, are lost in the vastness of the thing.
