  2. My new layout, a delve into the world of Colonel Stephens light railway, knackered locos and rusting corrugated iron, Clun Castle? The terminus of the Clun Valley light railway on the Shropshire hills, first instalment for “ Clun castle” starts with a Grainge and Hodder canopied board, with a bit of custom modification, thanks to Allen at G&H , and a little more customising from me. A cut out in the front of facia was produced for the control panel, this has a piece of 9 mill ply backing it for strength. The entrance to the fiddle yard was cut out of the end board, and the whole surface covered with a sheet of 5mm grey foamboard, note, the small piece of ply in front of the FY entrance, this is to give the track and something solid to sit on at the joint
  3. the layout is built into a Grainge and Hodder 900 x 400 Canopy Module, and the track is from the Peco bullhead range. As i have said, it is set deep in the Black country, with the scene captured from the Bumble Hole line, and its branch Withymoor Goods Station (railaroundbirmingham.co.uk)

  11. One of the gems making its final appearance at out show An award winning Modelmaker is bringing his layout to what is scheduled to be its last ever exhibition. Chris Peacock’s layout ‘Calstock Halton Quay will be at the Cradley Heath Model Railway Exhibition on the 8th October at St Michaels High School, Rowley Campus, Curral Road, Rowley Regis B65 9AN for what is possibly its last ever showing. Based on the Tamar Valley in Cornwall the layout not only shows the port and the way that goods were transported in Briton before the advent of the juggernaut, but also show the myriad ways of life shown at that time. Chris who hails from North Devon became fascinated with the way of life shown by people in the 1860’s and set out to capture what he saw in old photographs in 3D. Not only successfully doing this but he also learnt a lot of the stories that surrounded those pictures and lectures around the country about copper mining and the way of life that the men, balmaidens, and children suffered under.
  12. four years ago, i rolled out some lining paper on the floor, and started messing around with a track plan. The completed layout was first introduced to the public at Liverpool show last year and took layout of the show, along with me been awarded the prestigious "Hub cap trophy", which i shall go into latter in the thread. Its OO set deep in the Black Country, era, 19650s-60s Western region BR (please don't tell anyone about me modelling Western region BR). i have attached two photos, the first taken during the planning session, and the second of the layout at Stafford show at the weekend
