  1. I was on Rugby station today and there was a class 86 lurking in the bushes. Anyone know why it is there? Graham
  2. When I caught the no.20, I was going to Cov. If I went "into town", I was walking to the middle of Bedduth. Graham
  3. The X1 bus between Cov and the NEC on Sunday was OK (I arrived at the NEC at 8.45 and left at 16.00). Parking is £1 all day on a Sunday at the Cox St car park which is adjacent to the Pool Meadow bus station in Cov. This is another viable route to the NEC avoiding the heavy traffic near the NEC and the expensive car parks. Graham
  4. Are trains running OK on the Sunday? I was originally planning on catching the first train from Tile Hill to Intl on Sunday morning but I don't have much confidence in there being a normal service so I'm going to use a bus instead. Graham
  5. Elaine found a spare gear for me and brought it to the Solihull show yesterday. The loco is now running much smoother. Brilliant customer service, thanks Elaine. Graham
  6. I'm going on the Sunday so I hope the traffic will be quieter.
  7. Thanks for this Robin. The X1 seems to have a decent Sunday timetable with regular buses. I live in Rugby so I need to drive to Pool Meadow (Cox St car park is £1 for the day). I have a bus pass so it makes for an even cheaper alternative to the train. I think this is a plan! Or will the bus now be full of RMWebbers?🤨 Graham
  8. I was intending to go on the Sunday, catching the first train from Tile Hill. I rather suspect that the early morning Sunday trains will also be cancelled. Graham
  9. I bought my ticket from Chris M at a show a few weeks ago - before I paid I asked about the Sat/Sun and he explained that a ticket was valid for either day. Thanks Chris!
  10. Yes it looks like the one, 19 teeth. Thanks very much for this, I wonder why it didn't show up when I looked for it. I suspect my search skills are not what they could be. Graham
  11. Thanks, yes I've seen those but don't really want to pay that much. As it happens, I saw Elaine from Elaines trains today and she is confident she should be able to find one in her stock room and will pass it on to me. Thanks to all for your replies. Graham
  12. I've been servicing a Lima Western motor bogie and I've done the stripdown, clean, new traction tyres, reassemble, lubricate, but one of the gears has lost a couple of teeth. I've looked on Peters Spares but they don't seem to have these. Does anyone know of a source for a replacement gear? This photo shows the gear, at the bottom right. Thanks Graham
  13. You sure it was TT? Looked like OO to me. Graham
  14. Sorry, I don't think this is a relevant analogy. East European NG is a rather limited market whereas Hornby are aiming for a broad appeal with British prototypes.
  15. So I can't see the TT range in my local model shop. And I can't see the range at the few large shows where Hornby have a stand because I have to join a club first. How am I supposed to see it at my own leisure? Online does not count - I buy things I can see in the flesh first. I can't help thinking that Hornby are shrinking their potential customer base with these marketing tactics. Graham
  16. I was at Gaydon today and was going to look at the new TT stuff from Hornby, but it seems that you had to sign up for something or other to get entry into the TT room. Are Hornby trying to discourage people from their new model range? Why the **** should I have to sign up to something to look it? I may be an old **** but if I'm going to buy something, then I want to see it first without getting headmaster's SK permission.
  17. It's been said many times before in threads about NEC parking costs for the Warley show, park for free at somewhere like Tile Hill and catch a train to NEC for £2.70 return. I do this for every Warley show and it works out really well. Graham
  18. I'll look out for you next time. My long hair fell out decades ago. 🙁
  19. Glad a date has been set for this, I've been keeping tabs on them for a while. I now need to schedule a trip to Cov with SWMBO, thinly disguised as an xmas shopping trip. Our bus passes get us from Rugby to Cov free of charge so makes for a cheapish day out. Does the 'Evil bus driver' do the '86 service? Graham
  20. No change here. After missing out for two years because of covid, I'm going to go to as many as I want. If I stay home to save money now, what will be the next crisis to stop me enjoying the rest of my life before I peg it? Graham
  21. I have bought a Heljan early Rail blue SYP class 25 and part of the roof is a cream colour. Whether this is prototypically correct or not, I have no idea, but I don't like it and want to paint it blue. I've never done anything like this to a new loco before and I don't have an airbrush so after reading several threads on here, I plan the following; Buy an acrylic aerosol from Riolett, BS 381C Rail Blue 114, with a satin finish. Mask using Tamiya tape. This is a new model and is clean, but I will clean the area with IPA. I presume it will not need priming. Apply a few thin coats - but how long do I leave between coats? and can the masking remain in place between coats? If the colour match is not exact, I am happy to lightly weather the newly painted area to represent a bit of black exhaust dirt. Any advice/comments would be most welcome. Thanks, Graham
  22. That second photo in the ITN news report is the Bath layout.
  23. 170 638 approaches Nuneaton today with Judkins Quarry spoilheap in the background. Graham
