  1. Clean joint.. apply a little fluxite.. weld.. Baz
  2. Ey up! @Erichill16 knows all about drivers who stop at a roundabout which is empty.. its a Barnsley thing.. happens all the time. @polybear you were ripped off.. my "Brietling " cost 5 ringitts and lasted 25 years from a stall in KL.. Today will see some wire strangling and a bit of grass cutting (if the mower doesn't sink!) One of my items which represent a vehicle used as a braking device was accidentally totalled at York. A replacement kit has arrived.. from Judith Edge.. unfortunately its a plastic set of parts not her usual etched metal creation! Time to drink my tea and gerronwithit. Have a great day! Baz
  3. HUNSLET works will be in use. Free entry, free car park. Second hand sales will be in place. Baz
  4. I always try to get people to havexa go at weathering (indeed there have been cases where people have bought second hand items to take their attempts homecwith them). There are loads of techniques to weather items.. I see my role as being one of providing a foundation of what weathering is all about (ie getting some good colour photographs and on servation) then building confidence in doing the weathering. At Warley I regularly came home with a few part weathered items.. never set out to finish any during the show.. Baz
  5. Ey up! Lots of people off to sunnier climes from Leeds Bradford. Why are Aitbus A321s so much quieter than Boing 737s?? Lots of things to sort today. Two zoom meetings to organise, info regarding a cricketbissue to sort, some bills to sort (and I await a refund from Trans Pennine Express for a strike cancelled trip.) Cricket around here is heading for a disaster zone due to.. rain.. loads and loads of it. Most of the Leagues are hoping to start on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.. no chance... I must also check the preparations for taking an object based on Chapel en le Frith (Central) to Bristol... only paperwork received on that so far is... a Risk Management questionnaire.. wonder when joining instructions will arrive?? Still feeling less than well following my trivandrum fall at Easter. Everything is slowly heeling. Time to finish my tea and gerronwithit! @polybear her indoors has sorted a lot of donations this week. One had nearly 90 very nearly or actually new items of very clean clothing.. seems like Easter weekend was clear out weekend.. Baz
  6. Ey up! Not a lotn9n today.. but I need to get a wiggle on to be ready for the return of her indoors from moreasons.. TTFN Baz
  7. I made the mistake of reading the book.. it didn't shape up well against some of the other books on the Eighth Air Force and I didn't bother to "pay to view" the series on TV. Band of Brothers was a different kettle of fish. The author (Stephen Ambrose) talked to a lot of veterans from that story.. Baz
  8. Late back from my course tonight. Some interesting driving techniques observed on the A1.. indicators are not optional! Time for some sleep. Baz
  9. Ey up! Positive thoughts to @Dave Hunt.. hope it gets sorted pdq.. nut.. I am still editing from an ecg scan last December which means I have a very large travel insurance quote which will only reduce when the consultant remembers he needs to action these..pah! Great day yesterday. Progress on layout made by red leader..food and tea were consumed and even the sun came out for a while. I really don't get the need for AI generated pictures.. must be my engineering brain is not switched on by them.. but other ERs seem to have the same opinion when I PM them to find out why they are missing.... just saying.... Long and busy day ahead so.. Stay safe! Baz
  10. And , unlike @St Enodoc @LNER4479didn't break the layout.. I now need yo do more wire strangling to get the diesel depot on line. Baz
  11. Great visit today from Red Leader who has completed the diesel depot track laying among other work. He has taken a few photos which will, I hope, be seen on here soon. Thanks for the hard graft Graham @LNER4479. Baz
  12. Ey up! Busy day yesterday and the "business" will continue through the next few days. Local cricket Leagues are already starting to delay the start of the season.. my first two (non League) games are likely not to happen.. Good.. its horrible umpiring on wet pitches. @BoD I rambert the wheeled stands. At first it had a large Black and White TV on it. Then a colour set, then a VHS recorder was added.. happy days catching up with Pugh, pugh, barney magrew, cuthbert, dibble and...... visitorbis already en route. Need to get my skates on! TTFN! Baz
  13. Ey up! Very busy weekend. I travelled up to Northumberland yesterday for a day taking part in the methods you can use to defuse situations in sport.. excellent work. Did you know that every year 7000+ football referees pack in refereeing? The FA manage to train enough new referees to fill the gap but until recently no one knew why they had the turnover. Everyone assumed it was down to disclose... nope its people giving up for the fact "they don't enjoy it anymore".. ECB have no ideas on turnover of cricket umpires or why people jack in but very much assumebits down to lack of discipline.. could be a major foobar there. Very windy on the A1 and A19.. worn to a frazzle on my return. Enjoyed my snake, pygmy and dumplings tea.. A bit more tidying up to do today a report to concoct then.. whatever I want to do is open to me to do in the rest of the day. Stay safe! Baz
  14. Ey up! Recovering from a horrendous trip back home from the Bay. The A64 was awash with caravans and very slow moving cars.pah! At some point Vickers bought Roneo and used the brand to supply various types of office furniture. They had a separate printing division (Howson Algraphy) but had started to run that bit of the business down as the printing processes were changing so rapidly. Worst printing process was the one used for copying A0 drawings at Barnbow.. it cleared the sinuses pdq. Got a lot of tidying up to do as my friend Red Leader is here to do m9re work on the layout. That's after a day trip to Northumberland tomorrow. TTFN Baz
  15. Ey up! In between getting soaked by the sea fret and blasted by the wind an enjoyable stroll to see some friends was achieved yesterday. This was followed by tea and wads .. including a rather nice piece of simnel cake. Today will involve packing, shopping and a return to home where washing will be undertaken. A good few days away.. but boy 4 days at York Railway show was so tiring! Our 1920s house was well laid out and included a space to extend into the loft. We had a set of stairs fitted which now leads into my loft workroom, a bedroom (full of railways currently) and an en suite. 4 bedrooms, a house bathroom and a separate loo on the first floor. Ground floor has entrance hall (with piano as it was the music teaching room). A kitchen, a a store room, a dining room and a sitting room. A small conservatory acts as the laundry/drying room. Does for us! Stay safe! Baz
  16. Not all acrylics are water based and IPA is good for removing lining from somecRTR items so be careful when using it... Bas
  17. It's great walking a lot around nice bits of countryside but.. After my accidental fall to the floor last Friday I am more in the mood for sitting and watching the world go by... Hope things start to fall into place @Erichill16. Baz
  18. I can remove Indian ink wirh water and cif. Never tried acrylic instead but if its not water removable I wouldn't use them. Remember if I do a commission and the owner doesn't like it I need to get the weathering off!. Baz
  19. Strange.. at the Show the jiggle was only seen occasionally.. but once or twice when no locos were anywhere near a signal.. Bit of an emc review to take place.. Baz
  20. Bit foggy in the Bay... Baz
  21. L9oks like cast pewter. You can bend that Hurricane .. gently.. using your fingers. Warming it up (warm water?) May also help. Superglue or araldite should be ok for fixing parts together. Baz
  22. Skate and chips for lunch at the Magpie in Whitby. Excellent!! Baz
  23. So popular that.. there seem to be few layouts around being exhibited wh8ch cover this period.. Baz
  24. Ey up! No chance of catching up on here. Hopefully @Dave Hunt has had a successful op. A busy weekend in York followed by an interesting drive back... ever been down the road into the Hole of Holcomb at 15 mph?.. total muppetry! Now to catch up with my friends here.. my hand is still swollen from its meeting up with the solid stone paving flag last Friday.. but its getting better! Time for a brew methinks! Baz
  25. WHITE APRILS FOOL RABBITS! Baz
