  5. Looking at that Flickr link, the tanks appear to have bottom/side discharge via the silvery caps visible? Is that allowed now then on Class A fluids? (presuming that Jet-A1 is Class A)
  6. At least the wagon handbrake is on plus I think the ice cream van was parked hereabouts so nobody overheated.

  8. The Standard Railway Wagon Co Heywood Works book by David W Tandy ISBN 9780955235429, attributes the build to Silcock & Colling / Railease. "They were converted at SRW Heywood and Reddish Works." "This fleet was originally designed for the carriage of vans, Range Rover and Land Rover vehicles, too big to be carried on Cartic type wagons" "They also carried Vauxhalls and Renaults spending most of their life working to and from Perth, and Bathgate to Garston and Dagenham Docks"

Perhaps these (I don't have the book either): In March 1957, 20 x 20T Hoppers (LMS Type, ex iron Ore) were lettered "Empty to Helston WR" They were used on "Serpentine" Stone traffic to Oughtibridge Silica Firebrick Company Ltd at Steetley ER. 100 tons was passing weekly in these bottom discharge hoppers.
