Rail Ex Taunton - October 21st & 22nd 2023
mudmagnet replied to Captain Kernow's topic in Exhibitions
I only took a few photos over the weekend - not too much spare time as on my stand most of the time. -
I'd agree with Rob, that probably worth extending the bridge to the front of the board, then turning the siding into a heavily overgrown siding, perhaps with an old wagon in poor state!

A long overdue update - will be attending RailEx Taunton Sat 21st and Sun 22nd. Will be taking full range and several new products. Photos and details to follow.

Building another O gauge micro layout and weathering stock
mudmagnet replied to Nick G's topic in 7mm+ modelling
Another image from Stafford show, with my 03 and Garmpus. Nick's layout is really fantastic, great subtle weathering and detailing. Oh, sky replacement ......- 681 replies

Yes, a pair of Grampus wagons from Parkside / Peco. -
Looking great. Hope to catch up with you somewhere.

Yes, like wise! I will bring a few bits with me, but if you wanted anything specific, then let me know and I can bring with me. I might bring my 08 and 03, if I can get the latter weathered beforehand. Both sound fitted. -

Looking forward to seeing the layout at Stafford in a couple of weeks. -
Orchard Road TMD - BR Blue - The Story Continues

Great to see that you are adding parts / details to the layout to enhance. I had thought about adding working lights, but something that I never go round to doing. -

Excellent Nick. Almost as many Wickham as 08 now? -
Beginnings of 2mm finescale journey - layout started.
mudmagnet replied to mudmagnet's topic in 2mm Finescale
A start has been made on a small layout. Scenic board 800mm x 225mm, plus a fiddle yard board - 200mm x 225mm. It is envisaged that the main scenic board will fit into a 'really use full wrapping paper' plastic box and a second (probably smaller) for the fiddle yard and other parts. This is being wired for DCC using MERG system, plus servo driven points, again using MERG servo boards (each with built in relay for frog polarity). I will have a small parcels depot at the rear siding with the front for the goods wagons / permanent way. Possibly with a loco refueling area on the kick back siding or may end being a small goods shed. If the latter, then may add a further track fed from the fiddle yard only for loco refueling. I have also just completed assembly of three mineral wagons, ready for painting and fitting D&G couplings. I will order a few more kits in a week or so including a pair of GUV vans.- 19 replies

Unfortunately I will not be able to get there this weekend as started my 2mm modelling projects and loaded with questions! Will have to wait until another time!

Beginnings of 2mm finescale journey - layout started.
mudmagnet replied to mudmagnet's topic in 2mm Finescale
I purchased a GF class 37 at the weekend and replacement have been ordered, so conversion hopefully will get completed at the weekend. Need to make a start on the D&G couplings as well. Assembled one buffer kit, have another couple to do. Working out a small track plan progressing, having completed three point kits and a few lengths of track. Again hoping to make a start on a small baseboard at the weekend. Thinking around 1m long x 200mm wide, so will fit onto a shelf in my office at home. -

Yes, on the list to get, but will probably get a rtr loco to convert first and get an 08 later. Fantastic service, first order received today! -

Well ordered a few track parts and points, as well as a couple more mineral wagons and DG couplings. Hopefully will start looking at a small layout in the next couple of weeks. Just need to get a suitable diesel loco for conversion ..... -

Membership submitted, so hopefully will be ordering a few track items and a couple more wagon kits soon! -
I will be attending the Exeter show over the weekend 22nd and 23rd July with my sales stand. Working on several new products which will be available at the show and will add to the website Friday 21st. Photos / details to follow after the show as unlikely to have time beforehand. Adding to the website to make easier for sales at show through my card reader app.

S&W couplings do work really well, just need setting up to the correct height. Also need to ensure that ends of wagons are protected when packed to prevent being bent. Just need a wire loop on the loco buffer beams. There are probably some videos on YouTube showing these in operation.

Beginnings of 2mm finescale journey - layout started.
mudmagnet replied to mudmagnet's topic in 2mm Finescale
A little bit of progress on a small diorama, laid the short length of track, painted and weathered before being ballasted. I've taken the plunge and submitted my application to join the 2mm Association and will then get a few bits ordered. Got a few vague ideas for a small layout, but will want to get a diesel to convert soon. Also been scaling down some of my 3D printed items to 2mm, including wheelbarrows which have come out exceptionally well.- 19 replies

Oops, sorry wrong Jerry ... -
I blame Jerry ..... I recently purchased a starter / tester kit for the track and mineral wagon, which I have assembled and painted. The short length of track will form part of a small diorama, with the single wagon. My intention will be to include a few of my own 3D printed parts as often asked to produce items in 2mm scale, so looks like a perfect excuse! The etch chassis kit goes together really well, although not perfect, for me a great introduction to 2mm finescale modelling. I'd missed a few minor steps during construction, but will know for next time. Will there be a next time, yes, is the answer. I'm going to order another one along with the 'getting started' and very likely membership, after all only £20, which looks to be good value. Perhaps then a bit more track and point ..... I have thoroughly enjoyed putting the kit together and runs beautifully along the 120mm of track!

Class 37, by Accurascale
mudmagnet replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Very pleased with my 37026 (sound fitted) received from Colletts Models in Exmouth. Fitted the Accurascale crew - easy to unclip the body to fit these. Also fitted the pipe work, which was a little more tricky than the Deltic where the buffer beam is removable. Obviously removed the tension locks. I will make up wire coupling bar so that can use tension locks on the wagons / coaches being coupled but yet to determine the best way of mounting said wire, although thinking about utilising the holes where the snow ploughs are fitted as these not being fitted to my loco. Some experimentation and trial and error to follow. I've run mine on a short length of track, but first impressions, very good and sounds superb. I do like the fading of the lights when switching on and off, plus the automatic cab light switch off when moving off. Runs smoothly on my MERG DCC system. Waiting patiently for the next to be delivered from Accurascale, part of the next delivery due. Tempted to get a third ....
