  1. Gaugemaster now doing a BR Blue one though it is pre-TOPS. Still time yet for it to appear for elsewhere! [as 02003]
  2. Taken the plunge - finally gone for a Heljan Blue Circle one and a similar EFE one to match (does anyone know if they are different running numbers please)? Also a third in the original livery!
  3. Waiting for my Collector's Club SDJR one to arrive, soon hopefully. So taken with this model and livery!
  4. Going to be a race to get one of the ones I want as only 150 going to be produced! Trouble is, I am concerned I might miss the starting gun!

    2021 hopes

Well Here goes for me. Most of the below have already been mentioned by others. Hoping / wanting / expecting / predicting, does it matter ~ not worth getting knickers in a twist over: Pre-grouping: 'LION' Caledonian Cardean Caledonian 439 Caledonian 6-wheel Brakevan SECR Birdcage Brakevan Big Four: SR H16 2-6-4T GWR Great Bear GWR Toplights (ornate livery) LMS Big Bertha LMS Red & Gold Coronation Scot set (largely fictitious livery) LNER Raven A2 LNER P2 streamlined LNER Coronation / Silver Jubilee set Lit Pullman's with Cream Top/Cantrail Banner BR: Class 01 Class 06 Class 70 Class 74 Class 80 Class 81-84 Class 123 DMU Class 252 HST-P Mk2 Manchester Pullman (reverse Blue-Grey livery) Mesc: Scaledale Buildings TTS Chips inc. Classes W1 / 25 / 42 / 56 If just one or two make it for the above into the Hornby 2021 catalogue (or anyone else's) I'll be a happy bunny!
  6. Well hopefully it (02003 in BR Blue) is a later choice by our Viking brethren.
  7. As the previously stated by the manufacturer: 2873: BR blue (wasp stripes) 02003
  8. Now showing as available to order from Hatton's. I was surprised not to see a BR Blue variant though of course this may follow.
  9. A friend of mine had one of these in the early 1980's. The motor growled when running and we thought it sounded somewhat like a real Class 31 as these used to run very close to us. I also remember that we use to refer to the centre wheel as a ski-sled or similar!
  10. I also had advice from Hatton's today: Heljan 45403Hel Class 45/1 'Peak' in BR blue with sealed beam marker lights - unnumbered £169.00 Our latest information from the supplier suggests this item will arrive with us between July 2021 & September 2021 Heljan 4712 Class 47/0 47137 in BR blue with glazed headcode panels £186.95 Our latest information from the supplier suggests this item will arrive with us between December 2021 & January 2022 Hope this is of interest!

    2021 hopes

Ah, so that is where the image originates, thank you. Maybe also the source used by Royal Mail for an issue of stamps 'Rainhill Trials' in 1980. The pink coach at the end of the top train is interesting. I recall from the stamps one of the third class coaches having a roof though have also read on this site that this was a later addition not for weather protection but for protection from steam, smoke + soot from the locomotive. Not withstanding historical accuracy I wonder if these could be on the cards from Hornby (as surely not a big adjustment for them to make to existing tooling), with the likes of 'Lion' or similar!

Well - what's the harm? Those that don't like it always grumble and stamp. I always thought those not in favour should just not bother reading the topic or spoiling it for those that do like these things!
  13. Regular and very satisfied customer of Robbie's here. Had a few consignments from him this year - highly recommended!
  14. I ordered mine (6 x yellow strip oxygen) within an hour or so of the add going up and they arrived Friday whilst I was out. Only collected them yesterday morning from the Post Office, happily I got the full consignment. Hope that helps. I note the comments above and think it very possible the Olivia's may well release more of these to Hatton's given the differing price point and apparent difference in rate of sales. Hope everyone can get what they want!
  15. From foggy memory I seem to recall that some BG's were renumbered (into the 84xxx series) either very late 70's or early 80's. This would tend to indicate Hornby have sidestepped a potential pitfall. Happy to be confirmed or corrected, just posting on memory and would need to reference some old Platform5 books in the loft to be more sure.
  16. Just noticed a sale on at Hatton's. Bagged myself a rake of six BOC bogie tankers saving £180! Had my eye on these for a while but previous price was too steep for me. Hope you find something interesting. No connection or kickback - just flagging to fellow RMweb contributors that they might find something they like at a discount!
  17. That is interesting. I have some of their older product which is box labelled as 'Made in Wales' though of course they could have moved since then.
  18. Received mine today [6336], lovely locomotive. Ran it in and then fitted one of Dapol's own 'Next 18' decoders. Even using the supplied tool, I could not shift the smokebox door. Had to resort to part dropping the chassis to pop the smokebox door out from behind with said tool, though not really an issue. I use an ESU ECoS and with the Dapol decoder it can set off very slow and controlled, no noticeable initial lurching forward from standing. My only comment is that the firebox glow is almost imperceptible unless the room lights are switched off, and even then it is still only very faint indeed. I've since looked on the Dapol website for CV setting for their Imperium decoder, and am still none the wiser on how I should adjust to brighten and/or flicker - any ideas please anyone?
  19. Looks like possibly also some Class 25's + Class 45's from Bachmann in 2015, though no reason to suspect anything amiss with those at this point in time - will check and monitor!
  20. Whilst I appreciate you may be right in this instance (£200 barrier), economics tells us that 'supply and demand' theory operates. The higher the price the less demand and certainly taking to logical conclusion I am sure most would agree if a silly £1000 per unit price (model loco) were applied, then demand would be massively diminished. Therefore the elasticity of demand forms a curve whereby demand diminishes as cost increases. There is only a certain price the market will bear for any given supply of any product (or model). If the price is toO high for that supply (read production run of given model), then price cuts would be necessary to sell the over supply (for the given initial unit price). Costs - now that of course is a whole other conversation of course. Tiresome though some on here are with price discussions, economic facts remain !
  21. I didn't recognise the 'Mac Lads'!
  22. If not already planned, how about presenting Sir Tom himself with set number one? (A belated birthday present if you wish). A lovely gesture of thanks and a shrewd piece of marketing also! How lovely for him to have the models on display as a reminder of the flypast on his 100th birthday.
  23. Delighted - was on my wishlist - ordered a 3 car BR Blue one with headcodes immediately. Thank you to our Danish friends! If not domino headcode, hoping not to hard to change. Really happy with a Class 104, will be fantastic. What is more, the announcement photo from Andy is my home town!
  24. 1075 was a special which Hornby renumbered for me with a note from Mr SK himself!
  25. That is a good excuse thanks. I have duplicates - though only the blue and red liveries. Would love one in black. That would look incredible next to the pending black Merchant Navy when I think about it!
