  1. Presumably 2.20 is an extension of the hand of God to a more general body shot?

    WCPR No 5 - part 6

Coming late to this interesting construction, unfortunately. Re ex TVR Coach; I agree that 0227, 0228 is most likely - TVR Diagram 54 built 1885. However it is NOT the case that these were the only TVRs with duckets more central - the TVR diagrams 53 (tvr no 030 ) of 1884, diagram 6 (tvrno 242-248 ) of 1898,and diagram 9 (tvr 39 coaches) of 1886-1910 all had central duckets. As these diagrams were I understand produced to hand over to the GWR at the Amalgamation, there are likely to have been other coach numbers earler. Diagram 9 was a full brake - the others had compartments.
  3. Think Wales, think Gwili😀 NRM ex BR(WR,GWR,TVR 0-6-2T - one off. For an area poorly supported apart from not scale PO Wagons.
  4. Pity - a better balance IMHO than most mags available now. Good amount of text and less emphasis on pictures - and I am not running down the sequential assembly pictures.
  5. What clearance should i have in OO for guard irons above rail - I believe the real thing gap is about 3 inches; giving 1mm in OO; does this work - think 0-6-2T with large overhangs each end. (was aiming at chatting to Tony at Wigan but transport collapse inhibited that) Thanks
  6. For me my attendance not helped by rail strike and weekend replacement buses for me - at least they got my ticket money!
  7. I have recollection of a very spacious P4 do in one of the Heathrow airport hotels.......
  8. Re church models: seem to get by without interiors even in these days of high detail, but https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2757163 Gives a wide range of 3D printer church etc pieces; altars, pews, organ, lectern, pulpit etc. For 4mm they need scaling down - I use 42% on the STLs. Obviously churches are not modelled to be the scale size generally so some imagination is needed to create a "representative" view

The system we have has a Wi-Fi thermostat on each radiator and one for the hot water tank. These are monitored by a central control unit which controls the boiler and feeds back info on each thermostat to a remote centre which a) communicates situation values to mobile phone(s) app and b) stores the preset values we have set which can be overridden for each radiator or for the lot by the mobile. This is a Honeywell system which has saved us loads - I'm just a customer.
  10. SVR; At Bridgenorth the station is directly connected to High Town via a long flat footbridge. Then there is the cliff railway to drop to the lower level. If you want😄
  11. Just returned from Morrisons having eaten a free good lemon Drizzle slice with blueberries and free tea - an offer voucher in the Western Mail paper £3 value - appears to be all day this week....

Fantastic model BUT Night -Diesel Railcar Would the cab light be on when train on the move? Surely the driver would need the dark to help night vision.
  13. Ambis, I think, do/did a chassis kit for this 0-4-0T; p4 afaik
  14. Surely they did not accept pre-orders of 36 times the quamtity they were ordering from the actual manufacturer? It is interesting that Hatttons, the "bad boys" of the Hornby past, seem to be getting a large amount of the over- produced items. Having purchased new Rovex, Triang etc etc over the years I am now restricting what I buy direct from them at least.
  15. Taff Vale had a 4 wheel coach with corridor connection (diagram describes as flexible gangway) at one end; TVR 238, TV diagram 49. Unfortunately not normal - was the Dining Car for the Directors Saloon until 1924, Built 1888 by Metro C&W as brake van, converted in1913/14 at Cathays. Scrapped 1927. It was also unusual in having wallpapered interior. Photos exist
  16. I think youve got the TVR cylinder size wrong; RCTS etc gives 18.5in by 26in. So the RR Riiches adopted Cameron's cylinder size when he moved to the RR. Cardiff Bute Road to Pontypridd gives the As a 20 Ton advantage over the 3MT And, if loaded to 6 carriages, the 3MT was allowed an extra 2 minutes (WTT 16/9/1957 to 8/6/1958) .
  17. I am always suprised that the comparision is between BR 3MT and RR. In my experience the more relevant comparision is with the rebuilt ex TVR Class A which were 1 coach extra capable up the Cardiff Valleys. The 3MT boiler is a modeified GWR and not LMS isn't it?
  18. Having just completed cataract ops on both my eyes in 2 operations DH is absolutely right. Even the requirement to not blink wasn't a problem - no pain and no sight of what went on . Total time for op 2-3 hours but the actual bit where the lens is removed and replaced took approx 10 mins each time. I frankly "enjoyed " the op being fussed over. Most of the time is waiting for the various drops to work. Post op you get a plastic bubble over the eye which stays on overnight- because the eye's mechanisms for protecting itself can be slow to resume, I understand.
  19. While I don't doubt that some coal wagons worked back to mines in the pickup goods, I think it was more common in eg South Wales for the bulk mineral traffic to run in dedicated trains and avoid the complexity of handling goods and minerals in one train

On 4 what on earth was the first ten minutes for, apart from advertising the new Top Gun film? Or were they trying to fill in time?
  21. Bridge re-opened one way (Lear house to Aldi) on wrong side of road; the road surface in the proper side looks unfinished. Reopened IFAIK on Fri 29th; looks ghastly green plastic as opposed to original brick. Pedestrian path on one side but both way 😆
  22. I can't answer the whole question but "An A-Z of Famous Express trains" gives A start date of 1927. Castle hauled to Wolverhampton, where replaced by 2 Dukes. Took Abbey Foregate curve avoiding Shrewsbury. Rplaced by Manor class in 1937 for this stage. Shrewsbury engine change was post WW2. Steamport has replied while I was typing. Edit 1837 to 1937
  23. I was reacting to the official government announcement; Man Vic, Picc, Oxford rd, Airport mods and electrification Liverpool to York etc https://www.gov.uk/government/news/manchester-and-north-west-rail-passengers-to-see-more-reliable-journeys-with-84-million-investment
