  1. Gareth I'm sure that you had a post relating to the conversion of a Bachmann A4 split chassis. That post does not appear to exist anymore. Would there be any chance of repeating it? Regards David

Ivan I'm sorry to hear that any other work would go beyond the cut off date. You really have got the essence of the the quay - we were down there yesterday afternoon. I think that what it needs to finish it off is backboard scenery to the height of 11" along the two far sides ? For those of you who don't know the area, have a look back through Ivan's thread and compare his work with what was and what is now. Ivan, you have made a great diorama, we hope that you finish it off it time for the deadline. Our regards David and Lynda

Ivan Great to see your progress on this. Lynda and I were down there this afternoon and your model really does reflect how the place looks. Lynda suggests that you don't forget the pigeons - they were all there looking rather bedraggled courtesy of some rain showers. It will be brilliant to see the finished model. Our regards
  4. Likewise and it makes interesting reading. I think that if I was going to buy one, it would have to be D5700 - I had the original Dublo version when I was a kid in the early 60's, undo one screw and the metal body parted with the chassis IIRC. I am certainly torn about preordering one and think I will hold off until I hear from the rest of you how this model pans out. It will also be easier on the plastic card  Regards David
  5. From what I have read elsewhere, some models will have two electric motors BUT only ONE DCC socket for both motors. Given Heljan's propensity for being power hungry, what decoder is going to be able to cope with it? Regards David

Ivan How is the model coming on? I ask as Lynda and I were down on the quay earlier today. Lynda thought it might be an idea to put some pigeons on top of the "cyclone" Regards David
  7. Oh dear, it's not supposed to work like that!!!! David

This is an interesting project purely because Lynda and I regularly go to Mistley/Manningtree as we live in Clacton. Your work thus far looks extremely good as it does reflect what is there now and what would have been in the past. Keep up the good work and we look forward to seeing your completed model. Regards David
  9. Nice idea, but surely in a scrapyard would you not have more than two pieces of track? I appreciate that your are limited on space i.e. 11 inches wide BUT, according to the rules, you can have 11 inches long by 20 inches WIDE - if I have read that correctly. Having seen pictures of Barry scrapyard, it is a big wide open space with several loco's stacked one behind the other on several tracks so 20 inchs wide would accomodate you, albeit with one loco on each track. It will be interesting to see how you deal with the backscene. Regards David

    EBay madness

Weeellll don't knock that. I have my own personal ebay account and had a separate business account under another name selling jewellery and watches. Being the scrupulous so and so that I am, the two were alway kept seperate so no shill bidding took place. Whatever an item sold for under the business account , it sold for without any interference from me. The business side has long since gone but I still have my own personal account and retain 100% feedback for buying and selling since heavens knows when. Regards David

By the time you take into account listing and final valuation fees, it's not much of a profit at the end of the day. Going back to my post, matey boy has not replied to it yet.......................shall I hold my breath? ..................No. David
  13. Which you can do down the bottom right hand corner of your picture and also if you go live to the site - you can just amke out the track there. On Wednesday I noticed that there was a thick black line across the bottom right hand corner of the image. I'm just wondering if the lens or the window it looks through has been cracked? David
  14. Just tried the webcam. Am I correct in assuming that there is freezing fog there this evening? David

I think the seller really ought to take a look at what he/she has written. This is on a BIN and yet, the seller states "up for bidding .............." Apart from making an offer, there is no way that you can make a bid on it. As for £112? Forget it. David Edit: Perhaps I ought to make an offer of £30.00? Double Edit: I've made an offer. Let's see what he comes back with.
