Some fantastic scenery in great weather. Hope you have a good trip.

Great work. I didn't know Ratio did a William Clarke station, but it looks like it is going to work really well. Nice to see your Dad's drawings being used.

This is starting to look really good now the detail is being put back on. Wish I had the courage to have a go at bringing on old model up to modern standards. I saw Clevedon at the Epsom show but every time I went to see you, you had gone on walkabout. Oh well next time maybe. Keep up the great work and I cant wait to see Cheddar when its ready.

It really is good to see you back in action with Kingsbridge. The quality of work on the conflat is excellent. I look forward to seeing a train with this in soon.

That's a very clean looking pannier and 14xx in a couple of pictures, and with GWR markings. Strange for that time. Do you remember why they were on Barrow Hill at that time?

The bridge is looking great. It should look superb when painted and in situ. Excuse my ignorance, but is Days Road Bridge near Dr. Day's Junction?

The "Engine Shed" looks amazing and you must be very pleased with the results. Barrow Road is going to look great in that environment. You have one very jealous admirer. Keep up the great work.

That's a great job with the undercarriage, and looks far neater than my efforts. I can't wait to see the carmine paint job. It was a colour I had thought about but opted for lined maroon instead. It will be interesting to see how it turns out.

I love the 14xx conversion. I have two bodies with defunct chassis', I just wish I had the skill the attempt the High Line chassis conversion. Below is my attempt at the coach conversion. Like you, I replaced the truss work as after 32 years or so the plastic was very brittle and broke while trying to clear the battery boxes. I also noted a slight stress fracture in the floor so use a brass sub floor to solder all the underfloor detail to. I found the brake actuating levers a bit to soft and delicate in white metal so I fabricated some from nickle silver etch and brass road, as per the three pictures at the bottom.I can't wait to see your finished item. Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year.

Lovely looking loco. Now all you need is a purple one that goes "Aaagghh" to match it. ;-)

Lovely finish on the loco. I am looking forward to see it in action.

Not good to hear about the damaged stock, but the layout with the new track is looking fantastic.

Looking great. Having seen it in it's original form it will be interesting to see it with the new addition when it cames to the South East again.

You could try and use some artists pastels for weathering, as these tend to have a slight oily base to them and would probably stick to smooth surface where chalk powders wouldn't. For the curved tumblehome have you tried using a round former of suitable size and apply heat to the plastic in the form of hot water or steam to persuade it to curve. Or is the printed surface to delecate for this method?

Thanks for the input about the canopy skylight Tom, I''l have to get a quote. I did see the aerial view of Kingsbridge, what a find. The other station pictures on the site are worth looking at as well. Just saw your blog on the coaching stock and its looking real good.

The station has slowed a bit as I need to sort out the valancing for the canopies. I have had to redraw some of the etches to get the minimum line thickness right. So far the current quote is £30. I am struggling to get the canopy skylight right and I am not sure whether I need to get it etched and then solder it together to form a finer look or try and make it from thin styrene strip. As soon as I have some more work done I will post some pictures.

Try the pages below for information. I think you will find it useful.
MODRATEC Useful Data (otherwise known as MUD) is a series of pages containing helpful information particularly relevant to rail modellers. This page tabulates the colours used for levers in mechanical lever frames as specified in the current British Rail Safety & Standards Board - Railway Group Standards guidance notes.
The changes are looking really good. Can't wait to see it running at a show.

I was looking at the platform valance. I did look at Scale Link but from what I could see they do not match those on the Kingsbridge branch. I suppose I could cheat and use a standard GWR valance as Salcombe was completed late in the developmengt of the branch. Modellers licence. :-)

Hind site is such a great thing and I wish I had gone the route of etched rooflights. It would have made it so much easier, and I could have got the valances done at the same time. I am still looking to get these as they are distinctive to the branch. Any ideas on how tall they were. Judging by pictures I estimate them to be about 3ft tall. Just need to see what else I might put on the etch with them.

The buildings are looking great and when bedded in will look the dogs proverbials. I wish I could have seen it at Taunton.

That's a great bit of painting there Tom. Can't wait to see it in situ on the layout.

Prototype Pictures- Unseen Demolition Photos
in Kingsbridge Branch N

Some great pictures. As always with this branch everything seems to have been done in a back handed way. The demolition of the station buildings and the ripping up of the track just as the fledgling South Devon Railway were discussing with BR about taking over the branch for preservation. We can only wonder what a super preserved line this would have made meandering down the Avon valley. A mainline connection at Brent, 3 intermediate stations and a terminus within a short walk to the ferry to Salcombe. WOW!!!
