  1. Help requested…… I want to separate the Hornby 49DS from its accompanying wagon. I have uncoupled the electrical contacts, but can’t work out how to remove the bar coupling from the locomotive. Any suggestions grateful received.
  2. Thank you both. I have reset the loco decoder but to no avail. Steam running sound controlled by F1, which works OK with other sound locos I have. Thanks for suggestions guys.
  3. Thank you Lemmy282. I have Lenz200 with Lenz100 and 90 handsets. I have researched ‘over the pond’, and as you have suggested, the root seems to lie in the Command Centre, not the chip (make unknown) or the handsets. I have a couple of other factory fitted sound locos that do not appear to have the same problem, so if I was to fix it for this particular loco, then that may affect other locos. I will leave well alone, methinks! Thanks for your interest
  4. I understand that some sound options only continue to sound when appropriate F value has been depressed, and stop when button is released, and some ‘switch on’ when button is depressed momentarily and ‘switch off’ when button is released. On my model, steam running sound will only operate when button is held down, and whistle sounds continuously when button is depressed momentarily and can only be turned off by pressing the button again. these are opposite to what they should be! Any ideas girls and fellas? I have tried resetting to factory settings but to no avail. Thanks
  5. Thanks for suggestions. I have settled on 3mm white faced hardboard, £19 for 8’x4’ sheet, I will cut lengthways which will give me about 16” each strip if I cut 3 ways.
  6. Thanks PJ ……. Remember you from Warley a few years back. I will have a look at their website.
  7. Would like some suggestions for types of board to use as a backing for photographic backscenes. I have considered thin MDF and also thin bathroom panelling, about 2mm as I particularly want to curve the scene around corners.

  10. Not being much of a designer, have settled on one of Iain Rice's published plans that, with a bit more space available, I have stretched slightly to fit my 14' x 9' garden shed. Fully insulated with strengthened floor, and professionally installed electrics I am now starting to install the baseboards. Solid top down one long side with 8 storage lines, this will have a lightweight baseboard above it to carry higher level branch terminus. The layout will represent a South Wales coal carrying line with a junction to the high level with small coal mine, foundry, station and townscape. I am experimenting with KD couplings worked by neodinium magnets disguised as sleepers, and the new DCC Concepts under track magnets to assist trains up gradients. Now back to the L girder open top baseboards for the rest of the layout. Photo's to follow.
  11. Visited Modelzone whilst staying in Chester just over a year ago. Found the staff there had used to have a model shop just round the corner, in a basement if I remember several years ago. Are the same staff at this new venture?, as they were always friendly and helpful.
