  1. Hi. sorry for the delay. I have uploaded the STL files to Thingyverse. have fun :-) search for rumpustrain
  2. Hi again, forgot to add that the control panel in the picture above is removable, so that it can be painted and then inserted. I will also upload the stl files to Thingyverse when I get time. also need to find the appropriate paint in acrylic. Phoenix do it in enamel, but I prefer water based paint. TTFN :-)
  3. Hi all, sorry for the long period of nothingness, been decorating. I would just like to issue a warning for anyone thinking of plastering their ceiling without eye protection....DON'T DO IT. Wet plaster with a PH of 11 - 13 in your eye is not very nice, also my trip to A & E at 2 AM in the morning was not very pleasant either. Anyway back to 3D printing. I did receive the Dapol spine wagon set for my Birthday and so set about redesigning the RHTT bits to fit. They need a little bit of a clean up and then, when I get a few moments spare, a coat of blue paint. I have ordered a set of transfers from Railtec (£14.50 gasp!) and will fix these when I pluck up the courage. That's all for now. Take care.
  4. Hi again, just an update on the resin printed MWA wagons. Only printed four so far....another four to go! Just stuck the man there for scale. I had a fiddle with the original bogies and removed the flat top. I also had a fiddle with the shock absorber mounts, but probably too small to see. Also downloaded these the other day. Oxy-Acetylene bottles and a compressor. Had a fiddle with the compressor to make it less toy like, as it had 5 spoke alloy wheels!
  5. Hi njee20, thank you for the heads up regarding the yellow graphic.
  6. Hi Moonter, Thank you for providing the link. I didn't know how to :-(
  7. Thank you for the offer, but I am doing the "standard?" MWA with the rectangular sign. I have had a go at designing it on Microsoft Word and it looks ok. Just need to print it onto decal paper and give it a go. I will remove the green background and print onto clear decal paper. Your MWAs look good. I used to model in N gauge, but it was a bit too small for my sausage fingers and my eyes.
  8. Hi njee20, Thank you for the link to the bogies. I am presently reprinting the MWA wagons in resin, as I am not happy with the layer lines of the FDM printer. Just waiting for the first one to finish as I type., so may have a go at designing the correct bogies if I can find the time.
  9. Also check that the Z-axis motor turns freely. My prints kept failing and it turned out that some resin had found it's way into the top bearing and it was struggling to turn. I replaced the bearings in the motor and the prints stopped failing. To prevent this happening again, I printed a small collar from Thingiverse that blocks most of the Z-axis hole. My printer is an Elegoo, but shouldn't be to hard to design one for the Anycubic.
  10. Hi njee20, Thank you for specifying the correct bogies, but these were the ones that came in the MWA package from Thingiverse. I am not able to find an stl file for the ordinary TF-25 bogies and my design skill are not quite up to making my own.
  11. With regard to the 3D printing, I have started a new topic in that section..."Layout in a shed Part 2 - 3D printing".
  12. Hi alangdance I have uploaded the servo mount and the 16 Ton Mineral wagon to Thingiverse. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask (not sure how to answer on Thingiverse, so here may be best) Have fun.
  13. Please be aware that I can only submit the ones I have designed, as the others are a paid download from Cults,
  14. Hi again, Sorry, didn't confirm which ones you wanted added. I have added the RHTT bits to Thingiverse, but as I am a new user, it waits 24 hours before adding them for download. "Rail Head Treatment Train Components" As I said above, It is not an accurate copy, just my version taken from photographs. I am a "it looks ok" kind of modeller. If you want any others, just let me know on this forum.
  15. Hi alangdance, I can try to add them to Thingiverse. I will update this thread if I am successful.
  16. Another thing I wanted to make was a re-railer for my fiddle yard. All in place on the main fiddle yard.
  17. And finally some storage lockers? That's all for now, hope you liked what I have done. See you on the flip side :-)
  18. Me again. Then wanted to make some water carrier things. This is just off the printer Painted and sign added With the water containers added (printed in Jayo white ABS like resin). A couple with the tops cut off and filled with stuff to resemble dirty oily water. Then designed some picnic chairs Then downloaded a wagon from Cults ( you have to pay for these ones) Chassis printed in Anycubic black ABS like and body in Jayo grey ABS like resin. Then had a go at End Of Train lamps. The lamp LED is a 1.8mm and it is next to a 3mm LED for reference. Then some cable reels designed on Tinkercad mounted on stands downloaded from Cults. Also downloaded from Cults, some wheel stands Next came a major project, a Rail Head Treatment Train. Also designed on Tinkercad. I know the wagon is not correct, but I am not sure if a 3D printed spine wagon would be rigid enough. Also, as I was designing it from photos, the dimensions may not be correct, but as long as it looks ok I am happy. And here are some of the parts printed. The generator? One of the tanks (still need to be revised) The thing with four holes?
  19. Back again. Printed about 8 of these wagons, but here are a couple on the layout. Next I had another go at the 16Ton Minetal wagon chassis I tried on the FDM printer. This was designed on Tinkercad and as you can see, has much better detail than the FDM printer. So I printed the bodies in resin. The body had one coat of Halfords grey primer. I also had a go at my own magnetic couplings. Just a couple of the 18 that I printed. The stripe has been painted with a draughtsman's bow pen. I still need to paint the chassis and add decals. Next I tried something else. A 21 Ton Mineral wagon and a Dutch wagon. 21Ton on left, Dutch on right. And here are a few 21 Ton wagons on the layout. They need to be painted and have decals added. This is the self centreing coupling mount that I devised for the wagons. When I saw that Hunt Couplings were doing knuckle couplers, I thought I would give it a go as well. Some very cruel close ups of the couplings That's all for now.
  20. Hi all, just thought I would share my 3D prints with you. Started off with a Creality Ender 3 Mk2 (FDM) and had been aching to make a linear point motor mount for a 9g servo. What you see below is about version 15 or so! The purple bit at the bottom is a slide mount, so that I can remove the motor mounts without the need for a screwdriver. And here is a batch ready for installation Only another 45 or so to make and fit! Next I tried my hand a making a wagon. I found a generic chassis online, designed my own body on Tinkercad and gave it a go on the FDM printer. It came out alright, but the layer lines are very distracting. Then I had a go at an MWA that I downloaded. I had to cut it into pieces on Tinkercad so that I could print it in pieces. Again with the layer lines and the FDM printer is not that good with fine detail, such as the bogies. Even so I persisted and made a batch of wagons. At around this point I decided to get a Resin printer (Elegoo Mars 2 Pro) and have a go at better bogies. This is with the supplied water washable Resin which is no good for bogies, as it is very brittle and broke when trying to fit the wheels. I then tried Anycubic ABS like resin and this was much better. Now that I had a decent resin, I tried a bigger wagon. This was download from Thingiverse, bot was a New Zealand Railways wagon, so need a lot of fiddling on Tinkercad to Anglicise it to make it look like a UK wagon. I know we don't have this wagon in the UK, but I liked the look of it and so gave it a go. So I have reached my 10Mb limit. more soon
  21. Hi, also check that your build plate is spotlessly clean. Clean with isopropyl alcohol. If you want to go even further, try sanding the build plate on a flat surface with 600 grit wet and dry sand paper. Sanding and a good clean fixed my issues with models not sticking to the build plate (Elegoo Mars 2 Pro). I also discovered that prints were failing due to the z axis servo becoming sticky. When I took the servo apart, the top bearing must have become contaminated with resin and was really stiff, so that every so often the servo got stuck and would ruin the print. Once I replaced the bearing, normal operation resumed. Also, I only use ABS like resin now, as the normal stuff is way too brittle. I have found that Jayo resin is ok and cheap at £16 for a kg bottle. Hope this helps.
  22. Hi again. Now that I am a bit better at Tinkercad, I thought I would have a go at making a Rail Head Treatment Train. I know the chassis is wrong, but when 3D printing chassis I found that more is better (strength wise), so decided against the spine chassis. anyway, here is the first draft of the model. I did not design the chassis, it is from Thingyverse (Mr Bunsy - OO Gauge Intermodal FSA/FTA ISO Container Wagon by MrBunsy - (OO Gauge Intermodal FSA/FTA ISO Container Wagon by MrBunsy). I have made a few alterations to increase the rigidity. Maybe a few more tweaks and I will be ready to do a test print. I'll let you know how it turns out. Bye for now.
  23. Hi again, Found some wagon files on Thingiverse, but some were for overseas railways, so I took the model, popped it into Tinkercad and anglicised it. This is the original Very rough, but just wanted to have a look at it as a model. A bit of tinkering and this is the next version And version 3 It is a little bit too wide, so have adjusted the model in Tinkercad and just need to print out number 4. BTW, these were all done on the FDM (filament) printer, including the bogies, buffers and brake wheels. Next I wanted a proper British outline wagon and managed to find the files for an MWA on Thingiverse. I had to cut it up on Tinkercad so that I could print everything flat and then had to glue all the bits together again. Printed in low resolution to see if all the bits fitted. Added a bit of paint to the add on bits to see what it would look like. getting there. Next, I really fancied having a go at a 16 Ton Mineral wagon. I found a chassis file on Thingiverse and with a bit of cutting and designing came up with this (the body was designed from scratch) It is not to scale or probably anything like a real mineral wagon, but it looks ok to me. This was all done on the FDM printer, but as you can see, there is no detail. So I thought I would give the Resin Printer a go. All I can say is....WOW. so much more detail is possible. This is a very cruel close up of the axle boxes and brake gear that I designed on Tinkercad. Just needs a coat of paint. Anyway, all for now TTFN TrainShed.
  24. With regard to the rest or the layout, I have been installing solar panels and batteries, so that the shed powers itself (at least during the periods it doesn't require any heating). I have also got back into 3D modelling and 3D printing and will be making various detail bits and some additional wagons. I currently have an FDM printer, but cannot get the detail I need, so I have also purchased (for my Birthday) a resin printer. I am hoping that this will give me much better detail.
  25. Hi Vecchio, apologies for the delay, not been well for a few weeks. The first time I grew seafoam, they started out with quite thick stems, but with my new batch, they have really thin stems, that cannot support their own weight. Maybe I didn't sow them deep enough. I will see how they turn out and probably give it another go next year.
