  1. Cue the "bag of bits" :-) An liberal amount of chocks to be added where needed, job done. Would also complement an ety wagon as these tended to amassed together somewhere on an empty wagon for later use.
  2. Oh dear !!!!!! https://www.flickr.com/photos/hoover29/9996085506/in/photolist-7Du8He-sqeDYj-dMjNvy-7CFuy2-pya5Lx-98xNY7-qEnBWh-9A8mvH-8yCCcY-gejxXQ-dxsJD5-eoX8RF-ptkiFi-eqFRPR-HE4Rds-upVnAA-7rVS3R-dsFCfN-4egK2r-uNEwAH-81r4hU-hzbSty-qtonPR-roBBU4-nnGdMx-qKrU88-gio2hg-pJFK2Y-ixMgQR-kuHeB2-qDeZLg-abfsnx-f7QmKv-aC5crw-dMR2Xt-pCERfv-iWB9Vj-ab7Rpp-pDXccW-ndScDe-q93mr5-d4ReWN-jFjNuy-aykBwA-dvNVuX-4ei22c-pestoS-3FhXrd-Huae1W-4bjF7P Scott
  3. Indeed Andy, but as I have said that used GUVs to convey the cars. The car traffic to/from Harwich seems to be solid Cartic 4 or the Procor single version (Procor 80s ?). I did wonder whether Range Rovers may have been loaded onto motorail flats for export via Harwich, but as I have said, despite trawling the pics I have accumulated over a number of years, of both freight & passenger consists I have drawn a blank so far. Still looking :-) Scott
  4. Yes I think Transits may possibly be my best option. I suspect the Railease version may be my best bet, maybe delivering Ford Transits via the speedlink network from Southampton via Whitemoor to Norwich. I have trawled through literally hundreds on East Anglian freight images without seeing a single motorail wagon as yet, so if anyone fancies lightening my wallet somewhat by evidencing that these worked in East Anglia in the 1980s I would be grateful or maybe not depending on number required. The obvious train, the Ely-Stirling motorail used GUVs to convey the cars so no good there. Looks like the warflat may be a better bet for me, but I would need to use the heavier pewter scorpion tanks by the look of what will be available in resin. A good call on both counts though. Scott
  5. Olive green was certainly a 1970s livery. Dutch on the other hand wasn't around until the mid 1980's. HTH Scott
  6. £19.95 was announced originally IIRC assuming the delay hasn't made them subject to a Chinese workers salary %age increase. Looks like they will be worth every penny though. Scott
  7. That would indeed appear to be the case Tom. As a result, I have just re-ordered my chosen items from a different shop. Scott
  8. All removed from Hattons website along with the RTC liveried Mk1s and the RTC class 24 by the looks as well. Strange ! Scott
  9. I have emailed Bachmann to enquire directly. Scott
  10. I had an email from Hattons earlier this afternoon informing me that my pre-orders for the Capital Connection Network South East & Night Mail parcels sets had been cancelled. I gave them a call a few minutes ago to enquire as to the reason why and I was informed that Hattons have been advised that Bachman will not be producing these items. The helpful guy I spoke to went away and double checked and confirmed that is what they had been told. They still show on the Farish website, but hey, wouldn't be the first time it hadn't been updated, even though it shows the NSE 101 as available now. Wonder if the items will be wiped from the catalog or now produced as individual items ? Scott
  11. Bingo, I thought my luck was in, but on checking I am in need of the earlier variant, batch 92500-92588. These look like they may be a reasonable starting point however ? Could do with a black one sitting on black Y25s though. Is there a massive amount of difference between the earlier variants and these, initially the brake wheels and number panels are located differently from what I can see. Regards
  12. Me again. Looking at the 47 that you say is Reading West, compare the trees in the distance with those in the "Harbury" shots. You have clearly walked down the line so to speak away from the bridge as they are surely the same trees as those by the bridge. Scott
  13. Really not sure about those two being Harbury Cutting to be honest Mike, assuming you mean the Harbury cutting south of Leamington Spa. I am fairly local to that location and just cannot visualise where it would be in the cutting, which I think is also deeper than those images portray. Those Tilbury stone hoppers used to run from Westbury to Barham in East Anglia IIRC. That coupled with the London based (Lxxx) DMU and the double track (rather than quadruple GWML) would lead me to hazard a guess it is on the Berks & Hants maybe ?? Could be totally wrong of course. Regards Scott
  14. That is a much more earthy looking shade than the first one, I much prefer it. Out of interest Jeff, which brand & shade of paint is it ? Scott
  15. Hi Clive and All Personally I find the fact that she was right irrelevant, BTW, did she also check the badge on the helmet was that of the local force LOL. How far do you take something ? surely that is a personal choice and should be respected. "If" I exhibited and somebody approached in a polite manner then I would be likely to listen to what they had to say, and if it was likely to enhance what I had modelled then that would be fine and they would be thanked for their assistance, I guess along the lines of what you describe with the kit bags. If on the other hand somebody pointed something out in a "point scoring way" then to be honest I would be very unlikely to give them the time of day. I remember standing watching Acton Mainline once and being stood next to a chap that had great pleasure in stating to the owner (and by that I mean the original owner before it changed hands) that he had lived in the house at the west end of the yard at the end of the overbridge and that the modeller had done a great job on its representation. A very long conversation then ensued as the models owner sought more info about an area of the model he wished to improve the detailing on. Now if that chap had of pointed out the errors and the areas that had not been modelled correctly I doubt very much the conversation would have continued at all !! Now to me "representation" is the key word here after all you seldom get a 100% reproduction of an actual place. Mike's layout is quite obviously Dent, anyone who has ever been there or seen a picture of Dent would be able to tell that. Not only that, it is a stunning representation of said place and the fact that a cyclist is about to be wiped out by a parked car or if a bobby had the wrong uniform on really doesn't bother me one jot. Note I said parked car, as having parked more or less in the position of the car on more than one occasion whilst photographing WCML diversions over the S&C, I had interpreted this particular cameo as the lorry struggling slowly uphill and the moped rider overtaking it. Mike, re the number of people at Dent at once, back in the 80s and 90s during an average day I guess you could be on your own for long periods of time, but when those diversions were on it was more akin to Piccadilly Circus both in number of vehicles and lack of parking, so once again, a situation to model it how you want whether that be based on fact or Rule 1. Modelling in N gauge there is a limit to what is available to me, what is actually modelable by me and I suppose an element of can I really be bothered to represent that particular detail, or should I just get on and play trains, and whilst I can accept somebody may be correct in pointing out a uniform as being incorrect, if all that is available to me is a generic policeman, then so be it. The lady clearly recognised it as being a policeman to go on and point out the issue with the uniform, but I suspect going back to the start of this, even she didn't spot that his badge was probably wrong. One last point/question for Mike, is the registration plate on the car one that was actually carried by that make, model and colour of vehicle ? Do I need to inform the local constabulary (checking his uniform is correct of course), that there may be a case of stolen registration plates ? I jest of course, but I think you see where I am coming from. Best regards to all
  16. And I know what I would be telling this "Miss Rivette Counteer" to go do with herself, or perhaps "get a life" would be more polite for her !! Such people must find it incredibly difficult to get enjoyment out of anything they come into contact with. Scott
  17. I suspected as much, it really does look the part. Which variety did you opt for ? Thanks Scott
  18. Lovely Job. Who is the manufacturer of the ballast please ? Regards Scott
  19. I took the pic of the 47 on the Bangor - Aylesbury and can confirm it was more often than not a class 25. Scott
  20. I agree with the 104, but let us not forget that the shrink ray has also yet to target the 105 Cravens. Scott
  21. I would be very interested in seeing this Ben as I am in the process of doing the same by the sounds of things, except mine will be in Redland Pea Green. I would also be interested in seeing the etches you have designed. Many Thanks Scott
  22. Maybe try dimming them a bit as well Dave as that will alter them as well. Scott

    BITTON

Yes indeed Andy, they carried granite from Croft Quarry to Bishops Stortford & Bow. Never china clay though. Scott
  24. Talking of wasting wood Jeff (although I reckon it finishes the job off myself) I think I would be cladding that bit of remaining breeze block too :-) Scott
  25. Not a problem, just wouldn't have been any heat. Quite a common occurrence for a 40 actually especially in summer months, where the lack of air con would have been more of an issue.
