  1. All the best Mr.T. Have enjoyed chatting mate, but like Jaz and a whole load of others before me, cant stomach the people in charge on here anymore. Hopefully, somehow, I'll be able to keep checking on DP. Keep up the great modelling. Dave
  2. With regret I will now close this topic and end my membership with this site. Simply asking a question about the ludicrous prices of models has brought the immediate and expected censorship by the management on here, who in my opinion, are far to close to the manufacturers and retailers to allow anyone to even question something which effects us all (not them obviously); that being the cost of models. To all the genuine average Joe modellers on here I will say goodbye. Plenty of other sites out there with much less biased moderators .....so that's all folks! Dave
  3. This weeks progress...finally got the MPV I've had for a few years up and running. Floodlight equipped too, but as its a day scene didn't use them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyqyQ2qgxEc Dave
  4. Finally the layout's up and running again, after finishing the TMD extension. 6 months...cant believe it myself ! On to the next project..(MPV). Dave https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lUgnHg0qMQ
  5. Looks good... platform looks great..very realistic. Is it scratch built or a kit? Loxley, by the way (Of Robin Hood fame) is in Sheffield, not 2 miles from me. Dave
  6. thanks VPF...yes ideal for spottin....as its turned out, it reminds me a bit of the grass banking at Tinsley shed, many moons ago. Dave
  7. This weeks progress :- Nearly there..just got to clean the tracks and the get the trains running!!! Dave
  8. Thanks Steve, George. Had a bit of advice on the Pway & Signals section, as to what was required for entry/exit of a TMD branch...2No.shunt signals, a Stop board & a trap to protect the mainline. Dave
  9. Highest order landscaping Mr. T. A 'Tall-order' and it looks like you've got it licked!! Love the rock texture and the grass is spot-on! Dave
  10. Thanks chaps. Inspired by your thread Sam with the shunt signals! Dave
  11. More progress this week....finished & installed the shunt signals....fiddly but worth it....completed & installed the partition wall between TMD and Minsterley Station and weathered the track. Dave
  12. Thought you'd modelled me for a mo, there Mr. T. Wonder what they're setting out??
  13. Thanks chaps. I'll own up Sam....there might be a bit more than a weeks work in there . Been at it now, since the new year...so its all condensed a bit to make me look hard working..lol Brian, the layout is about 25ft x 9ft.
  14. This weeks progress on the TMD extension......home-made lighting towers, trackside equipment & OHLE. Dave
  15. Hi Rod. The TMD concrete is Wickes plaster with a bit of acrylic black paint added. Pour it into the matchstick mould and get as smooth as poss. Leave it for a while to harden a little, then, as you mentioned, press the building/structure into the top to make an imprint. While it is still wet, run a wagon along the tracks and use tip of matchstick to clean a groove out between the running edge of the track and the 'concrete'. When dry, trim off and use sandpaper to get a smooth finish. Then paint with thinned paint washes. For the fuelling point concrete I used MDFcut to shape, sprayed with Plasticote suede and painted. Gives cleaner edges. Dave
  16. Thanks chaps. Little secret is that the project is well advanced on those pics. I've lots of later pics, but that's for another day. That's a nicer site than I'm used to Mr.T. Would be tempting, yes. The track is actually laid on 2mm thick polystyrene sheet, which comes on a roll; as is the rest of the layout. In the pics is been painted a dingy brown so It looks like its just bare boards. Provides good sound insulation...and it's cheap too! Dave
  17. Piles can be a pain in the btm ! Take it from me....I've suffered from both types. Plenty to get your modelling teeth into there Dave!! Dave
  18. The street scene with the Range-rovers is right up there with your Petrol Station James. Brilliant! Dave
  19. Many thanks chaps...glad you enjoyed it, Dave
  20. WB Terry. Job & house stress...., no-wonder you've had a break mate. Many congrats on the MR Article...highest order quality!! I'm sure everyone here wishes you 'calm water's' now. Dave
  21. Latest vid, showing the layout just before closure and during the start of the TMD extension work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ifxasOumJo Dave
  22. Many moons since last posting. No trains running for some time now, while I get the TMD extension finished. The project itself and work commitments is making this a lengthy one. But I have made some progress. Below are some early pics showing the start of the extension build. Dave
