Quick question if anyone can help on the same topic? I think 56036 was the first to be painted in LL at Stratford. At the time this was described as an experimental livery. When Doncaster outshopped 56084 onwards and the refurbished 50's starting with 50023 Howe is was described as slightly revised livery. I have spent 45 years trying to work out how the slightly revised version differed. Anyone know?

The freight traffic as none stop in the early 80's and bringing Eastern locos over the Pennines after Woodhead closed. Think that is the underbridge to the transporter bridge? 5 years since I went down there and you could see evidence of a track or trackbed leading up to it. The road bridge I am thinking about was underneath the station. I saw it my own eyes although I was very, very young.

Thats what we were told after bunking Eastfield 1981 and one idiot (aged 12) left his school rucksack containing his grandads expensive binoculars on the floor at a bus stop. Guess what the postman delivered two days later? Yes, the rucksack and the only thing missing was my sandwiches with a note explaining they had been thrown away to stop them going mouldy and ruining the contents of the rucksack. Sometimes the more dodgy the area the more ethics the people have living there.

I had the same problem when I sold off most off my collection that I would never use. They will hold the money back for 10 to 14 days until you have sold 10 items. However, they are really helpful and if you phone them. I was pleasantly surprised that if you request a call back that they call you within a few minutes and if you have sent it tracked and received feedback they will release the money early. Give them a call.

Seeing a 06 shunter trundle past Springs Branch Wigan towed by a 40 with a few brake vans and a 25 in tow.1981 March or April would stack up. Can anyone add any information on how 06002 and 06003 made their way to Reading. I know for certain one went past Springs Branch and what a sight it was. Up there with Tulyar on a diverted Sunday Liverpool to York.

However, in need of a set of steps for a Hornby 08 and not having a cheque book I bought a friend a couple of pints and he kindly wrote me a cheque for the said sum which was posted with a covering letter. a few weeks later the cheque was returned in the post with a covering letter explaining that because the name on the cheque was different to my name (delivery address) the supplier did not wish to cash the cheque as I may be committing cheque book fraud. I tried to call the supplier, no answer! We then posted the cheque back to said supplier asking for the goods to be delivered to my friends house and included a copy of my friends council tax bill proving he lived there. 3 weeks later the cheque was retuned back to ME! stating that the cheque would have to be reissued because it was out of date! This had now become laughable down the pub! Step ladders £12,99 at B&Q!!! Hes put you on the naughty step! Eventually, I managed to speak to the supplier and pointed put that I had worked for Close Brothers Merchant Bank for 30 years and a cheque was valid for 6 months which the said supplier did not believe. I politely asked if we sent the cheque back would he please take it to his bank and point the date out to the cashier. 6 weeks later I finally received the steps with a letter explaining the postage delay due to having to wait for his statement to check the cheque had cleared. It took nearly 3 months for a part that cost less than a tenner. Never again!

Hi Roy, I must admit, I did miss the Lima 08. In my day it way an 09. Good call though! Wren may have had one and of course Kit master,. Time for a new thread I think. Interesting discussion

Crikey! I am starting to feel old! I remember the Lima model that was released in 1990 and the reviews of the Hornby model claiming it to be the best OO model of its time and a game changer. It looks like we are on the 3'rd generation of loco's and I wish Cavalex all the best with this one. Wondering if any loco has gone through 4 remodels. Time to model Snotrag sidings I think.
