  1. From my memory, all WestCountry class names were red plates with gold letters with same coloured scroll below. Looking at Fox Transfers etched plates the Calstock plates are red with no alternative colour available. Hope that helps
  2. Newly added to the fleet, my 37418 sits in the Network Rail siding with Caroline
  3. Never had any cut outs since fitting them to my 37s but I was getting cut out at start up every time prior to fitting on my 6 locos!!
  4. I would try and rub lightly with a cotton bud dampened with thinners. If that does not work try the least obtrusive area with a cotton bud and T cut and if that removes marking it is likely to leave a shiny area which can be flashed over with an air brush and satin varnish. You may end up re-varnishing the whole body once all marks removed but should be easy enough on the air smoothed model. Hope that helps John
  5. Hi Bob using a cotton bud and T cut you can easily remove the old warning flashes and a nice shiny surface remains to put the replacements on John
  6. Shawplan do the etched discs and they are easy to fit. I did all my early batch ones I think it may have been Railtec who did the 3D decals
  7. Hi Fran wouldnt a replacement Accurathrash speaker rated at 8 ohms do the business and prevent the trips and potential decoder damage? John
  8. Hi JN I bought some superb coal loads from smuggler7 on EBay. He has also done loads for many other wagon types and they are excellent without being over expensive. John
  9. Cannot get over how superb this loco is. Round so smoothly and great set of functions. Could not resist putting Robin on the cement today!! 😃😃
  10. Really nice work Iain - a massive difference between the two and impressed with the detail you have applied. Looking forward to seeing your next project completion. John
  11. Completed loading the Colas 56 into my ECoS and detailing number 1 end along with fitting the nameplates. What a stunning model and the sound file is second to none. Well done Cav and Alex, cannot wait for the 60s I have on order!
  12. Hello Andy and Gents I have been trying to upload a couple of photos from my files and they all end upside down whether loaded from my PC, ipad or iphone. What am I doing wrong as cannot see the ability to edit on the actual forum when uploaded. Many thanks John
  13. Hi Ben have you tried putting body in freezer for 20 minutes and if that doesn’t work IPA 99.9% thinned with 10% water is a good paint stripper for locos that does not affect the glazing but may well loosen it refards John
  14. I have 14 behind a class 60 in Puma livery. See Instagram johnclark568 john
  15. This is a problem with the Hornby class 60 couplings. I have changed mine to the Hunt magnetic pivoting coupling and Magnetic couplings on my TEA tanks and the rake runs a treat. Had to go this way as was having problems in my helix of uncoupling and riding tension locks
  16. I saw the 47s at Warley last year and thought they looked really good. Manufacturers must get really frustrated when people on this forum knock the loco before it has even been on the shelves. I thought the new Heljan 47 was superior to the Bachmann one and intend buying a couple.
  17. Also worth a check with Richard Croft at Roads and Rails as he has done many tests with different speakers in different locomotives John
  18. McC is correct on this. I did remove the small sugar cube speaker on one of my 37s and I can say with certainty, the sound did not improve! I quickly re-installed it!!! I have 7 Accurascale 37s and did notice that the sound was brilliant on the factory fitted locos but quieter on the retro fitted Accurathrash decoders and speakers. This was soon sorted by changing CV32 =1 and CV259 = 255. They sound awesome after this. also, if you have the ECoS controller, ensure you update the unit to the latest firmware that came out on 13th September. The unit then recognises the modified ESU V5 decoder as a V5 Loksound which it was not doing prior to new firmware. John
  19. I have just followed the instructions and never had a problem with any of the firmware updates. Have also uploaded a few of my own loco icons and it really makes the ECoS even better! john
  20. If my memory serves me correctly, there was an issue mentioned in this forum regarding the inability of the ESU ECoS to recognise the modified V5 Loksound decoders as fitted in the Accurascale class 37 locomotives. I believe McC mentioned new firmware was due (already introduced to LokProgrammer) in the near future. In case anyone has one of these controllers and has missed any update news, I have just downloaded the latest firmware to my ECoS and it now recognises the new Loksound decoders. New firmware was on the ESU website 13th September. John
  21. Hi all If you don’t already know, there is a new firmware update came out on 13/9 which now enables ECoS to recognise modified Loksound 5 decoders John
  22. Hi Chris apologies - it was a typo and it should have read cv 157 and cv 29 the default on V5 Loksound V5 decoder are CV157 = 0 and CV29 = 62 For Legomanbiffo class 20 sound where locos are paired or consisted, set as follows Lead locomotive - CV157 = 1 and CV29 = 31 Rear locomotive - CV157 = 3 and CV29 = 30 I have not got a LokProgrammer but looking at V5 manual, CV 29 is a configuration register and, I believe, determines loco direction. CV 157 is part of the CV suit 155-170 where sounds can be selected and assigned to different projects. Anyway - I have used these two settings on my 20s and they work perfectly in consist with lead loco starting first followed by trailing loco start up. With regard to speed matching, I have not had a problem other than when trying to start the locos moving too soon. As one lags behind the other on start up you need to give them time to settle in tick over mode and then they do start moving together OK. Hope that helps John
