  1. Just google blood sugar monitor. They vary in price from less than £10 to almost £100.
  2. If you know what it is its a bargain so I've put a bid in for it.
  3. You would think with such a valuable classic they would take care to park it properly.
  4. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis wasn't as active this morning but is still there, Nurofen has been taken as a precaution. My mate is redecorating one of his bedrooms, he bagged up the old wallpaper stripped from the room but the refuse collectors refused to take it. Fortunately there's a couple of skips near to me and I'm friendly with both users so I will ask permission first and dispose of the bags there.
  5. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Had an enjoyable evening at the SEERS track night this evening. My new locomotive ran like a sewing machine, very good considering I paid less than half price for it. I took some surplus GER Journals to give away and came back with a handful of different mags dating from 1953, more interesting reading.
  6. And the Tollesbury light railway although they ran in mixed rakes with ex W&U bogie saloons and even in mixed goods trains. They were heavily modified however with smaller wheels/raised buffer beams and fitted with end doors for the conductor-guard to walk through the train.
  7. Arthur Itis is now in retreat, but I suspect he'll jump out on me when I least expect it. Normally would have been BIN day today but its a day late due to Monday's unexpected bank holiday. Now to get a bite to eat before getting ready for the SEERS meeting tonight.
  8. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis is still hanging around so more Ibuforen has been taken. Need to go shopping now to get some more bread and eggs.
  9. Four and six wheelers were common on East Anglian minor branch lines until the mid fifties when most of the branch lines closed.
  10. Not only humans but dogs are living longer and like humans their mobility declines as they grow older and they sometimes need assistance in moving about. I know of at least two dogs that are taken out in pushchairs. One, she is 16 years old, deaf, almost blind and suffering arthritis and the other is also an arthritis sufferer.
  11. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis was in full voice this morning but a brace of Nurofen and moving about a bit put him in its place. SEERS track night tonight, watching the weather forecast as last time it was pouring down as we left the meeting. The cold front and rain heading this way tonight shouldn't reach us until after midnight but fingers are crossed.
  12. For dog lovers. They don't show the bit where the dog snaffles the ice cream.
  13. The detail is amazing, the Rolls Royce kits include a tool roll.
  14. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Completed reading through the pile of the GE Journal I purchased at the Shenfield show, very interesting and informative. Arthur Itis has been suppressed by Nurofen and more will be taken before bedtime to keep him quiet.
  15. They used to strip them for spares and dump what was left into the North Sea.
  16. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Arthur Itis is kicking up a fuss again, not surprising with the weather swinging one way then another, now for a bite to eat, a slice or two of quiche.
  17. The original paint or from the car?

The piston effect is used to ventilate the system. There is quite a draught when a train is approaching even at a maximum of 25mph*. Any faster and its possible to blow passengers waiting on the platform over. It also had a disastrous effect on the Kings Cross fire as the piston effect pushed air into the base of the fire. *As the trains are slowing down to stop the speed would be less than 25mph.
  19. Has anyone looked into putting the 'Stove' body on to a Hornby or Hattons chassis?
