  1. Evening all from Estuary-Land. I'm sure Captain Cynical employs an equivalent of Q who could surely come up with a whisky glass holding device. Anyway, Norris is through to the semi finals and England beat India so good things do happen (unless your names Boris Johnson). One of our ward councillors (a Tory) died a few weeks ago and the poll for her replacement takes place in two weeks time, be interesting how it turns out. Rather unusually the poll is on a Wednesday (the 20th) rather than a Thursday.
  2. I had the same problem with an easy chair. It was solved by putting a slab of stiff foam under the cushion.
  3. Special delivery for Simon Kolner.
  4. That was what I was thinking, the tractor rounded the bend and the driver couldn't straighten up. A similar occurrence happened near me about twenty years ago. A car came up the road on the right and took a right turn at the T junction. Instead of taking a ninety degree turn the driver took a hundred and eighty degree turn and piled into the front of the first house (with the silver car on the drive). There is no doubt about the cause, the woman driver was drunk.
  5. For really small flat glass windows cover the window aperture with a post-it note (the sticky bit) then rub it with a soft pencil to transfer a replica of the aperture onto the post-it. This makes a template that can be applied to the glazing material to be cut out.
  6. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. I had a young man come round last week to give the lawn weed patch a shave. There was a large ant hill found and that was scalped by the mower but still stood proud by about six inches. Since then the fox cubs have taken it down to ground level looking for the grubs. There is now a new ant hill a few feet away from the demolished one. The garden certainly needs a drop of rain but if the forecast is anything to go by it will be some time before it rains.
  7. Morning all from Estuary-Land. The fox cubs were up and about playing in the garden earlier but are now in hiding. The hay fever is starting to hit so the G word is out today. According to the forecast the weather will be getting hotter over the next week even hitting thirty degrees a week from now.
  8. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Despite this afternoons forty winks I'm still feeling tired. At least there's little or no hay fever at the moment and Arthur Itis and Si Attica are asleep. Found another old wooden box that is also going to become another bee hotel. More here about life expectancy in England and Wales. https://www.kingsfund.org.uk/publications/whats-happening-life-expectancy-england
  9. Actually the ones that I use are homeopathic but they do ease the symptoms somewhat. I cant see any active ingredient listed on the packaging.
  10. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. Another do nothing afternoon. What with the blocked up nose from hay fever and the anti-histamines I drowsed off in the chair. Feeling refreshed now but can't stop yawning. Interesting conversation on alternative histories. I sometimes wonder what would have happened if Harold had defeated the Normans at Hastings. Time for a cold (none-alcoholic) drink, be back later.
  11. Or if your designing a fictional railway in an actual setting. I would like to build a layout based on this:- http://www.simonknott.co.uk/ipswichunderground.htm When you look into it it does get a bit complicated, you have to plan where the line needs to go and what connections are required. I have a micro layout, Minerva Lane set in East London based on a railway that the build actually commenced and was abandoned. It was intended to connect Whitechapel on the East London line with Cambridge Heath north of Bethnal Green junction.
  12. In the listing its described as a 'station'?
  13. It can be a trailer or a motor but not both. I think you've got it.
  14. Morning all from Estuary-Land. Bright and sunny this morning but a bit of cloud hanging about but no rain predicted. @jamie92208 Nice to see the young lady being set on to the right road and @NGT6 1315 is that your daughter in the pic in the background?
  15. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Things were going OK this evening until Si Attica jumped in. A couple of Nurofen have been deployed and if he doesn't go away its time to bring out the heavy artillery.
  16. I Googled it and all the answers were in Chinese or Japanese.
  17. Evening all from Estuary-Land. Not done much this afternoon except watch a bit of Formula one on the telly and watching the fox cubs playing. The little one was having a battle with a strip of carpet but won in the end. I also watched Countryfile where Alan Henson was looking for a new sheepdog (old age is catching up on his existing one). Its amazing how even young puppies at about eight weeks old have the instinct to round up sheep. Now to tackle Farcebook, be back later.
  18. The hay fever prevented any of the G word today. So I spent some time moving items from one box to another (larger) box.
  19. Afternoon all from Estuary-Land. None of the G word today because of the hay fever so transferring a few items from one box to another. I had some items stored in a medium sized box but that was getting rather full but fortunately I had a spare larger box so everything was moved to the larger box. I also have stuff in a smaller box that was overflowing so the contents were transferred to the recently vacated medium box. The now empty small box isn't going to stay empty for long.
  20. That might not be the only problem.
