  1. First of all a Merry Christmas to everyone. I know the Topic Title is possibly not the best but just to try and explain and bit better what I am after. I currently have an O Gauge BR Blue Class 08 from Dapol which is currently number 08173. I was looking at renumbering my Class 08 believe there are two types of Drivers Cab Door that were used either the wooden door or the steel door. Now, as I do not know about the history of the Class 08's did the early builds all receive wooden doors up until a certain date before the steel doors were introduced after a Works Overhaul? Is there an easy way to identify which door is fitted to a Shuner (Class 08), as I have not been able to identify any difference either on Google Images or Flickr? Eg position of door hinges? I am specifically looking at Shunters from the 1980's onwards and have not included the Class 09's only because I have not come across a modification kit with the MU pipework. Many Thanks In Adavce, John
  2. Towers first batch is now due sometime between Christmas and New Year as Heljan currently have sent these but it is not know which ones they are. First of two batches is going to all model shops so do not know about Hattons Disc fitted examples. Information taken from Tower Models Homepage. I am in no way connected to Tower or any other Modelshop!
  3. Many Thanks, I contacted PHD regarding the steps as they are not obvious on the website and I was just sent a link to the 7mm section.
  4. This has been very helpful Jim. Currently the 37 has had the tailights set independently on F19 & F20. F12 now turns on the fan sound on the decoder and also the motor. Just needs a resistor replacing that got removed before it then moves on to stage 2. Stage 2 will be the continuation of the the removal of the black paint around the buffers. Hopefully be able to provide a couple of pictures of this stage and also the weathering process. Stage 3 will be the fitting on the transfers and the BR Driver, before Stage 4 which is the weathering stage possibly next year.
  5. 1) People who cannot come up with their own ideas so just keep copying and pasting ideas from previous threads or posts like this one! 2) Like Ebay. The minority of Rmplebers who think they are professional weathers yet they must weather in a darkened room, or there guide dog has got lost in the fog! 3) Posts that are incomprehensible due to mysterious text or special characters. 4) The fact the my transition to O Gauge was later than I hoped. So, missing certain R-T-R models, which seem to be produced in limited numbers yet other scales are produced in larger numbers, and liveries each year. 5) Apparently if you are good at building Airfix then you should be ok at kit building.... Well I was not very good at Airifx kits and was only successful once 20+ years ago! 6) Tailchasers at exhibitions where the operators do not understand the concept of scale speed! It either goes really fast or it sits in the sidings
  6. I wonder if there is someone who could help with a couple of questions please? I currently have the Heljan O Gauge Centre Headcode Class 37 in Large Logo livery and I would like to know how to remove the Headcode lens without damaging it if it is possible as I have not come anywhere that does replacement lenses? Also as Heljan painted the skirt around the buffers black. Does anyone know how to remove the buffers without cutting them off or damaging them please? A friend at my local Model Railway Group has been helping to remove the black paint around the buffers, to reveal the original Yellow Paint underneath as Heljan just painted these black, but it would be easier the remove the buffers in order to complete this without them getting damaged. TIA John
  7. First batch now due early January 2018. Second batch due Late January/Early February 2018 according to recent Tower website update. Fortunately mine BR Blue domino Headcode 20 will be in the first batch
  8. Modelman14, please can I ask how did you manage to remove the Headcode lens without damaging it and do PH-Designs still do the Class 37 steps as these are not listed on the website? Also do you or does anyone else know how to remove the buffers without cutting them off or damaging them? I have the LLB Heljan 37 and with some help will be doing 37183 which has the black headcode panels with domino marker lights. Currently my model has the EM3 speakers WHL Sound Legoman Decoder (speaker fitted in the fuel tanks). Instead of reprinting the black bufferbeam cowling, this is currently carefully being removed to reveal the Heljan Yellow underneath with a fibreglass pen. Then any minor issues corrected with a dab of Warning Yellow paint. As 37183 carried both the Highland Stag and leaping Salmon this gives two options for the 37 as I plan to model it before it lost one of these emblems. Then it will be fitted with a BR Uniformed driver, the loco weathered, the horns on the cabs replaced for cast horns. Then snowploughs added to both ends.
  9. Just a quick question, if someone could please help with some advice? Within the Fox Transfer Pack F7418 - RF Petroleum/Trainload Petroleum (Larger Size) Symbols, are there two Trainload Symbols to fit on a Class 60? I am having to order some transfers for my Loadhaul Class 60 which is going to be repainted and numbered 60002, and due to there being a few similar products on the Fox Transfer page I just want to make sure I order the correct item. Many Thanks, John Arnold
  10. Is it possible someone can confirm if 7F-048-004 is the HBA with canopy (flame red) as advertised on Hattons site and on the start of this thread, or the HAA with blue cradle as advertised on Antics and Tower Models... #Confused! I was hoping for the HAA with Blue cradle but also would like the HBA as an extra wagon so planning on getting four wagons to go with the O Gauge Class 60 which I recently purchased.
  11. Many Thanks everyone. May just have to do a standard heavy weathered Maroon instead. I had also thought of doing a Blue Wessie with small Yellow ends but with carriage wash bleaching but may need to rethink this as well.
  12. Slightly off-topic but still relevant. I have a Dapol un-numbered Maroon Western with small yellow ends which I was planning on numbering/naming D1019 Western Challenger as I already have the numbers/name which I purchased last year at Warley. I believe this was one of the early ones to be scrapped but I do not know if it still carried this livery when it was scrapped. Are there any pictures of any heavily weathered, faded or bleached colour pictures of Maroon Westerns that can be used as a modelling reference? I currently do not have any books on the Westerns and the Railways Illustrated Magazine Back Issue on the Westerns is Sold Out. I would like to weather my Western and hopefully have it bleached similarly to what usually happened to the BR Blue Westerns, a few Class 03's, and other loco's that have passed through carriage wash plants a few too many times. So, instead of making a fictional weathering job I was hoping for a more authentic look if possible. The second number/nameplate which I purchased at the same time was D1057 - Western Chieftain. Although I have yet to purchase a second Western. Am I correct in thinking this was one of the few that carried a different version of BR Blue as searching the Internet says it was open to interpretation that some carried a lighter shape of blue. Was D1057 cut up in this livery of did it get repainted to BR Blue later on?
  13. If a product is faulty then you have a right to return that product, but it could be a grey area to return an item due to the colours not being correct, although you could ask to exchange it, but it would have to be returned to the shop it was bought from and not the manufacturer which I think has been mentioned before. See Martin Lewis website for more info. as the laws have changed with regards to the sale of goods etc.
  14. Well hopefully when your Modelshop Class 73 model was delivered the box didn't look like it had been sat on by the delivery driver! As I was not in when mine was delivered this week and someone else signed for it. Had I been around I would have rejected it as UK Mail had not only damaged the outer box but also the Dapol box containing the Class 73. Fortunately the Class 73 was undamaged, but I was less than happy as I prefer to keep up all boxes and would like them all in excellent condition in case I want any of my models repainted, or if I have to sell any models in the future. Luckily, my E6003 which Royal Mail delivered arrived in excellent condition and I'm unsure whether to keep it in the current condition or update it Sir Herbert Walker with Yellow ends.
  15. Some are due within the next couple of weeks although cannot confirm which models, as I do not know. I also enquired about the next batch of models and the livery I was enquiring about should be available in the second release of class 73's. I wish I asked now if this was the only addition. I would expect it may be popular when released whatever the number is carries.
  16. The Electric Blue Class 73 E6047 is due in next two weeks or so as I have received an email today stating the following.... "We have today been informed by Dapol that the Limited Edition Cl.73 E6047 will be with us towards the end of next week. We will be dispatching them in Limited Edition number order so please be patient as it will take a few days to process all orders. For those who have paid a 50% deposit we will be in touch regarding the settling payment. Once your loco is processed you will receive a dispatch notification from us. For any further enquiries, please contact us Many thanks THE HOBBY SHOP "
  17. Olivia's site now have these due around September. Nothing as yet on Dapols site to say any other the other Class 73's have been delayed but don't quote me on this. Maybe they have gone back to Dapol's version of Loughborough Works for modifications like the real Class 73/9's
  18. Olivia Trains have said they have yet to sign off there painted samples. There website has been changed from a May release date to July release, if this does not slip to coincide with the Warley Model Show later in the year.
  19. I hadn't realised that E6003 was going to be released in SR Green. I have already got the OT 3x on order as well as E6047 so I cannot afford any more. As I have already paid for the OT trio, I am willing to swap GBRF 73205 & First GBRF 73141 with some if possible please? I will swap one of the remaining two for 73138 in Civil Engineers livery please.
  20. I'm not sure but didn't Preston Station at one point have a couple of abandoned GUV's in the Stations Parcel bay? I think they were in Saltlink livery? Unable to find any pictures but I was sure there had been a couple around the 90's. Also for almost 20+ years there were the BOC wagons which used to be stored in the sidings to the west of Barnetby Station which were there so lon they rusted to the rails. They all finally were removed by road for disposal end of last year/early this year I believe.
  21. Local news... BBC Look North has reported trains will be routed via Gainsborough Freight line to Knottingley before reversal to Doncaster but drivers will require training on the route, whilst Selby Swing bridge is repaired. Couldn't Selby Swingbridge be craned out and replaced in a weekend with a newer bridge which is dual track as surely this would also improve the amount of traffic flow through the station, freight and passenger?
  22. Here is my picture of Whizzo p@rn.... EWS 37427 Bont Y Bermo & D1015 @ Llandrindod Well Station on 3x Day Railtour from London Paddington to Exeter, & Cardiff via the Shrewsbury.
  23. Well the Railtrack, Network Rail & also Loadhaul Bubble cars have definitely been across to East Yorkshire in the past 5-6 years. Especially into Hull & probably on the Hull to Beverly line, this was when the NR & RT was were out based at RTC Derby.
  24. Will Boxshifters Pandora feature the track camera, spot lights, modified exhausts, & Pandora name in the Headcode box or have they just chosen the Railtrack Blue/Green Livery and the extras have to be purchased as a kit from a 3rd Party? Just want to know as may change my order or not, if Dave or someone could please let me know thanks?
  25. If to Err is human... & to foul up requires a computer. What do you explain the Duke Of Edinburgh or George Bush's gaffs?
