  1. That's really odd as the prototype, 353224, has them the same side. The side without the drainage slots. 375000 really is the odd one out.
  2. It runs weekly either Weds or Thurs a.m. https://flickr.com/photos/nat37670/51314007698/in/dateposted/
  3. Hi, Yes Parkandillack is currently out of use for rail loading. However Parkandillack is used on various systems (ie Real Time Trains) for any train going onto the Parkandillack Branch, Treviscoe is still in use as a loading point, but workings show as going to Parkandillack even though they don't! So this week three JIA wagons were loaded at Par Harbour on Wednesday (my photo) then today, Thursday, another 8 were loaded at Treviscoe. This is the usual weekly set up, two days of JIA loading Wednesday and Thursday at Par Harbour and Treviscoe but what day is where can swap. In both instances when things are normal the trains leaves St.Blazey after 07:00. N
  4. This weeks china clay empties from the Potteries ran apx 10 hours late due to staffing issues. Unusual to see the empties in the daylight, this meaning a nice long 18 wagon train. The loaded is restricted to 11 wagons to Exeter. 66125 at Dobwalls on Wednesday. On arrival at St.Blazey the loco took three wagons straight into Par Harbour arriving apx 17:15. Giving this view, unusual to get the sun around the right side as this is usually a morning job.
  5. Neil, The photo in that article is rather old, the single CDA behind is prototype 353224, ex HAA coal hopper which was preserved and moved a few years ago now.... The first built 375000 is still there in store, been pushed up from where it was. Should be visible from the road, it's right up next to the 'wash apron' in the line of stored examples running from the signalbox gate towards the traincrew block. N
  6. Good job the rails are still in the crossing of the Par Harbour line as it's still in use I'm always surprised Dunmere Crossing still has its rails as it's easy to ground a low vehicle on them......
  7. Wales & West never had a depot in Cornwall so DMU fuelling, servicing, cleaning was contracted out to either First Great Western (Long Rock, Penzance) or EWS at St.Blazey. The DMUs belonging to Wales & West and then Wessex Trains were a common sight within the freight depot at St.Blazey until 2006 ish. Then the local services were merged with the Intercity services (First Greater Western) and they did their own servicing in house at Long Rock or Laira (Plymouth).
  8. I've plenty of recent pics (https://www.flickr.com/photos/nat37670/albums/72157688447525915) but would prefer the original blue on my layout. Won't be able to give the Hornby ones away now though
  9. If I didn't work on it, I'd avoid it. Sensible people and stupid people mixing, doesn't go well. Endless confrontation, abuse, numbers are not as high as they should be but prob around 75% in my area. Official figures are based on ticket sales so probably won't be anywhere near accurate in some areas as most are travelling free as staff are still distancing themselves and not carrying out revenue checks.
  10. almost certain, although not 100%. Once it was blue sure the only difference was it's ladders and the fact it kept its original HAA number (unlike the other HAA converts).
  11. The new Hornby three pack is a typical Hornby cock up, not numbered after CDA's at all. The prototype 353224 went into ECC blue with ECC logos about the same time the production batch was delivered, don't think you'll find any photos of it running in red with ECC examples, was pretty much just for the initial trials.
  12. Had a scramble up on that one over the M5, September 2018....
  13. Excuse mega low res of the photos, but here is the loaded and empty train from St.Blazey in the same spot near Liskeard. No runner wagons.
  14. 22/07/01 fGW hauled rakes were formed as follows: OC81: 9481 5631 6203 6202 5669 6722 3232 OC82: 9488 5632 5740 5657 5744 6723 3255 OC83: 9480 5710 6221 6213 6206 6724 3261 OC84: 9494 6200 6207 5636 6226 6720 3241
  15. The MEA rake is indeed the Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen to Onllwyn anthracite rake. The rake and associated spares are dumped at Swansea Burrows Yard today, technically abandoned as the last loaded train from G-c-G was May 2019. The Yard is still used to run around the Onllwyn to Immingham coal (HTA wagons) and any aggregate train ex Neath Abbey Wharf have to come here to run around before returning back to Briton Ferry and the mainline. If you are looking for abandoned wagons in S Wales the old Marshalling (Hump) Yard at Margam Moors/Kenfig is usually full of disused stock. N
