  1. Starting to look at railways for Cakebox. Think I going to rebuild this old Triang Mk 1 coach end into a US style subway car been a part of a wreck / rubbish in the scene. Needs corrugated siding added. Building from a Hornby Diesel Depot walls. Not bad for bit box finds. The rest of the Triang Coach is going to make a Steampunk coach for a Dinosaur Hatchery train.
  2. Just been sorting out photos as upgrading pc. Found some more earlier photos of Ipswich Wet Dock and grain handling. Also some photos of 08 on the upper end of Ipswich Docks Branch crossing River Orwell nearer the station.
  3. Here more from today walk the 1st photo is the St Peter Wharf area around Stoke Bridge. The 2nd on of the few convert Warehouse Structure on the Waterfront on Albion Wharf. The St Peter Quay area is the next to be re developed.
  4. Just had a Boris-time walk the pillars are about 12 ft apart as a single small fence post with chains in the middle between pillars. In that small area are 3 different style of pillars 1st the old style with peeling paint, then modern concrete one then the older cast but clean up large ones along a short section of Albion Wharf.
  5. Here the area at top of St Peters Quay at top corner of Ipswich Wet Dock taken last month. The new Highrise towers are called The Mill & The Winerack, the Winerack was Knickname given by the locals to when work on the concrete under -structure was stop by the late 2000’d crash leave it looking like an oversized Winerack. It has since been finished.
  6. Here are own photos of Stoke Bridge area of Wet Dock Ipswich taken before the quayside track was lifted. I'm local to Ipswich Wet Dock or Waterfront and this is one of my regular allowed COVID Lockdown Boristime Exercise locations so I can take photos if that helps. https://www.carendt.com/micro-layout-design-gallery/dockside-layouts/
  7. During Lockdown I built another Cakebox but this time for the vehicle models I have done for Tabletop Game Gaslands. During Lockdown I found Gaslands UK which is doing a monthly Car of the Month build. So I've built a few. I even built a Steampunk Mobile Cannon to go on Cabbage Brewery. Cabbage Town Watch have had the assistance of Hogsmeads 1st Mouth & Foot Steam Cannon seen on my Cabbage Brewery Cakebox micro. While building the Cyberpunk Flying Media Car I came across the AMT/Airfix Giant Mantis Kit, box unbuilt second hand kit, a kit which was on Bucket list. So I built a Dystopian City Scene with Giant Mantis a crashed Transit Bus the Flying Media Car. I have built 6 vehicle for this idea building a 7th this month. I have plans for 2 more Cakebox to form a larger City Scene. The middle one is featuring a old rail served warehouse from Hornby Diesel Depot walls. I'm think as it will have some track going into the warehouse I might be able to do it as both a Gaslands & RM Web build. The rubbish might be easier than the 2nd railway item, the Giant Mantis can have trampled a Nuka Cola billboard making it rubbish. In the Cakebook I've included references to both films Blade Runner & Fifth Element plus game Fallout with the brand Nuka Cola. You can see I used railway items in the build like telephone poles the small building is a N gauge boiler house Builtez flat. Cybergoth Plague Hunter 2020 buggy spraying poison on the Giant Mantis. Nuka Cola Delivery Truck. This Cakebox will be the left hand one. With the middle one featuring the old rail served warehouse, the righthand one a urban housing buildings. I currently building a flying Takeaway ship a nod to Fifth Element, at one of the windows.
  8. Hawkins Indiana plays home to another Gaslands UK Car of The Month July 2020. Here is the Might 959 with its Pit Crew and Local Police.
  9. Over the last month I've added another item to Cabbage Brewery setup. During lockdown I found the Gaslands UK site so have done a couple of month Car of Mouth Models for August 2020 was a Steampunk inspired car. So I've added a Steampowered Cannon & Gunpowder Trailer with Dinosaur Riding Officer, belonging to Hogsmead 1st Mouth & Foot. Using the troops from Carry On Up the Khyber as inspiration. So here they are joining the Cabbage Town Watch.
  10. Have been collecting for this layout. Done a bit of work over last few months. So have been doing a it in small stages. This going to be a layout which can be operated even simple rather than a diorama. The Fishermans Cottage is complete but needs painting. The Cafe Tea's & Ice Cream is basic walls . Some of the rolling stock has come Shapeways HO NG stuff. The plan is to do a few different sized MIcro of Stations on the freelance line Owenahincha Halt been the smallest. I plan to have at least 3 locos a Kerr Stewart Steam loco, but on a Kato chassis & sideskirts. a small Railbus & Freight Van, as seen in the photo Kato chassis Corgi Ford box van modified which can pull a single wagon. The most complete building so far is the Smokehouse a Woodland Scenic small whitemetal kit, along with a PeterPig 15mm shed. I know I shouldn't have really painted any of the figures, but I wanted one in the open smokehouse doorway as a bit of a view blocker. As can be seen in the following photo. I also painted the Nun & Priest with orphans on holiday which will be on the Halt platform. The next photo is mainly the Smokehouse with it workers & some fishermen. The Smokehouse worker with various boxes of smoked kippers are PeterPig 15mm figures 2 have new longer legs, seen around the smokehouse. The fisherman lifting the fishbox is a skier but without ski's & poles a fishbox is idea as he has a welly boots & a woolly hat. Also in the scene are a couple of Sgt Mess 20mm items the row boat & handcart. The Kipper box around are from a small crate pile cut about, The Woodland Scenics Smokehouse is a good small item which I bought S/H so the stove was missing I had to stratchbuild a small stove from plastic parts.
  11. Don't usual comment on these sort of things. But have followed Laurie stuff via You Tube, Thinks it a brave move, as an lone wolf unconventional modeler well done for giving it a go. Railway Modelling isn't all Rivet Counters or Box Collectors, it should be a broad hobby as the Cakebox have shown. . It about using your imaging nation feels it going back to the Battle Space stuff of yesteryear, like others have said I wonder if Hornby still have the tooling for them or Triang Trans Continental Range, great second hand models to kit bash . I hope this open the door to non railway modeler the Table Top Gamers, to check out the new Hornby Ranges. Many of my own parts come from the Plastic Kit Modellers & Wargamers as the different to normal railway ranges. I wish Hornby well.
  12. More in keeping with the issues of introduction. The 3-car 755/3 seem to becoming the norm for Felixstowe Branch. Now had 755 336, 755 327 775 332 for rides. 755 336 Felixstowe 755 327 Trimley 755 332 Ipswich With a link to my Flickr page. Only one not yet on Felixstowe 755 410 on the Gt Yarmouth.
  13. Dickon Keep a look out in the post some 15mm engine crew plus other 15mm figures which could be converted into lumber jacks or loggers.
  14. Had my 1st journey on 755 410 today 30/07/2019 on 10:36 Norwich Gt Yarmouth 11.17 Gt Yarmouth Norwich. Then back to Class 90 haulage trying to avoid the 321 EMU sets. 1st every Bi-modal BMU, so will wait to see what the future brings.
  15. Been in the spares box & found a rather ancient Airfix Thatched Cottage well 3 walls & a roof, think with some other parts will become fisherman or crofter cottage. Keeping up the tradition of a Airfix/Dapol modified structure. The Tea/Ice Cream structure I'm using a FOS Scale craftsman building as a guide, as i got FOS scale Building a month set so fancy making as many buildings as I can using the kits as a template of more buildings. Got a few things on order a Woodland scenic Smokehouse to make a small Kipper smokehouse, plus some Peterpig & Sgt mess parts & figures, both 15mm & 20mm. The corgi bus will make a railbus on a kato chassis. As I want this Cakebox to operate, I have also a shoebox which is going to become another station on the line at Glandore. Need to lok at a few wagon not sure what route to take with them. Perhaps some TT scale wagons on a n gauge underframe, even some shapeways TT wagons. Waiting for the orders to come so I can plan the placement of the scene. As I said i want to keep it a lot simpler than the previous 2 Cakeboxes, as Cabbage was a very cluttered scene.
  16. Work has ground to a halt on Spingfield Monorail. I'm had a idea for a small South-west Ireland Co Cork HOn3. A more basic rather sparse set up a simple beachside halt perhaps with a single siding. Set in Owenahincha Beach Co Cork with a fisherman cottage, simple halt a smoke house & tea & ice cream shack. As if there was a narrow gauge line from Clonakilty to Leap via Rosscarbery & Glandore. Set in late 1950's summer with a few holiday makers, perhaps even a young Father Jack from Father Ted & some Nuns.
  17. A little progress on Springfield Monorail. 2nd popular culture reference I have a 3D printed. Big Foot so thought of Harry & The Henderson. Could have the Henderson looking for Harry behind Moe's Tavern. Have found a Matchbox School Bus & RV plus a estate station wagon in collection. On order is 1 Dapol, Station Footbridge for Monorail Depot, keeping up the tradition of having a modified Dapol kit on each Cakebox.
  18. A little update, although Cabbage Brewery has been entered there were a few small jobs left to do. Which I'm in the process of finishing, copping stone on Brewery boundary wall, wood store shed then adding a bit of snow on the roofs. After that I'm planning a large board extension still a micro of Cabbage Station of the Cabbage Light Railway. Even found some wagon chassis for the Dundas Irish NG wagon Hornby GWR shunter wagon nice narrow short wheelbase the Dundas bodies look to fit straight on them. I have the 1st booking for Hawkins Indiana & Cabbage Brewery on 22nd June here in Ipswich will be taking Coquimbo Traction out as well. Plus how far I've got with Springfield Monorail.
  19. I had a thought after doing Hawkins, Indiana & Cabbage Brewery to keep it simpler. So again using the idea of popular culture reference & going for The Simpson as I already built a Moe's Tavern to fit in the space of the Diner on Hawkins. So thought about the one with The Monorail when the Flim-Flam Salesman drops the idea of a total pointless Monorail. As The Monorail would be new hence within the brief. The idea would be a new Depot with part of the Monorail above street level on Main Street Springfield with Moe's Tavern in the background, I've got the Depot building a 28mm 1950's Gas Station laser-cut kit.
  20. The Giant Snail sorted of happen by accident, I had work out I wanted a few figures for the Town Watch & was looking at the 15mm PeterPig range & stumbled on the fantasy section. I had settled on the War of Roses Crossbow Men & English Civil War Gun Crews which i thought would make good dwarfs for the Brewery. Then I saw the Gnome Rider & the Gnomes are 15mm Dwarfs. Then the Town Watch sort of became the Home Watch, which meant i could have a bit of a rag tag selection of uniforms & weapons. The fact that Captain Manning is arguing with the Snail Rider to who has the best Red Hat, would something you find Mainwaring doing in Dad's Army.
  21. In the Small Town of Cabbage the locals are waiting for Local Pick Up Goods which will collect the loaded Barrel Wagon from the Cabbage Brewery, and bring a Hopper of Fuel for the Brewery, of Dragon Dung & a Salt Van for the Cabbage Home Watch. Cabbage Brewery is a HO scale Cakebox Challenge, combining the fantasy of Disc World with the Home Guard of Dad's Army. It has a small street scene with 3 buildings Home Watch Tower, Shop & Inn. Around the track is the Brewery Yard, with Main Brewery Building including Power Plant & Chimney Fuel Drops, Stables Dray Shed, Gatehouse with Office Cooperage & Barrel Store.
  22. Nearly finished Cabbage Brewery. The waiting for the train, is the next freight train from Cabbage Light Railway to collect the loaded 3 axle Barrel Wagon, bring a loaded Hopper of Dragon Dung for the Brewery & Salt Van for Home Watch to deal with Gnome Snail Raider.
  23. With streetscene nearly completed work has tuned again to the Brewey area more cobble setts have been laid eyes plus a single straight of track. Work has started on the coal drops using wood from coffee stirrers & matchsticks. The lean to at the top of the shop house has been built. Coal drops in place on cobbled floor unpainted. Largest mainline wagon loade with barrels. After a coat of paint to cobbles, setts & coal drops Stables & & back of streetscene with lean to at top of shop staircase. Work continues with a from above view of whole diorama. Loading dock & steps added to upper Brewey level.
  24. Cabbage Brewery workers now painted might needs touching up after this photo. All painted street & brewery figures together all that is missing is the 5 already in Home Watch Tower & shop. Liking the way the bright uniforms of Home Watch & Gnomes contrast to brewery workers & street people. Brewey workers all 12 of them, all PeterPig 15mm figures 8 English Civil War Gun crew some modified some ramrod S have become shovels for boiler house workers, 3 Vikings 2 with barrels including a head swap for Drayman one, 1 ECW farmer. The Draymen have been painted with green jackets rather than the drab Browns of boiler house, stables & cooperate workers. Also 1st photo of 2 plank 3 axle barrel.wagon still needs work to underframe, started as a Triang short wheel base underframe with stretch built body. Barrels plaster cast load. More work required on this.
  25. Some more work done on Cabbage Brewery, street scene is coming along. The Home Watch Tower is nearly finished it's 1st building glued to base. Mocked up the Bolt Cannon crew & Sentery Spear, look closely Man at Arms Jonas, is shouting Don't Panic from the Tower. More work still to do pavement painted etc. I have also been.working on the Shop & Inn. Street scene next job was some of the Brewery dwarves, PeterPig 15mm mainly English Civil War gun crews, farmer & a few Vikings carry loot which included barrel & sack,. Also down a few people for inside shop mixture of Airfix & 15mm one which should be seen through shop larger window. Undercoated figures with start of basic painting. Brewey workers will be in drab colours compared to Home Watch & street ones.
