  1. Here a link to Hat WW1 British Infantry (Tropical) which might be of use. I'm using this set for 4mm Brazilian Coffee Plantation layout crew. I could pass on you a single sprue which has all the different poses. http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=2103
  2. Work has started on 1st railway wagon, a large barrel carrying open, made for the bigger Railway starting with a old tri-ang chassis with load of Plastercast barrels. Made to look like a 2 plank wooden sole bars might have a middle axle added plus double set of buffers for 2 different railways, Think the cal railway wagons will be to a slightly smaller loading gauge. I have also found some 1950's plan to build your own L&M Rocket & open tourist coach & simple open wagon. Think the open wagon have potential for bring the fuel, to brewery.
  3. Painting in progress on town folk, wild gnomes & Cabbage Home Watch. Town folk a mixture of plastic & Peterpig figures the pair of drunks have new legs. Next row Gnomes & Giant Snail plus bolt cannon . Home Watch from left to right, 2 figures for Guard Tower, 15mm Peterpig figures 1 War of Roses Bowman, ECW Gunner,Bolt crew ECW gunners with plastic legs from Airfix sets, Captain Manning Peterpig Sudan figure with extra middle, Sentry Spear Pirate Sentry with Airfix legs, 2 Bowmen Roses Bowman with Airfix legs Roman archer WWI Doughboy, Musketteer all plastic conversion.
  4. Been work on Town Watch or Home Watch, as Cabbage's patch have problems with snails & slug so why not the town of Cabbage have problems from local wild gnomes & their snails. The idea is a few gnomes including a snail rider have enter Cabbage & the Home watch have meet them. The young lad Spear has been posted at the Guard Tower end of the street, with Cabbage Home Watch favourite weapon the bolt canon. Men of Arm Jonas is up in the tower shouting down encouragement to Spear like Don't Panic & They don't like it up them. Old Hogfour is keeping watch down the street, but would rather be at home with a nice cup of tea with his sisters. Captain Manning & Bowman Doomonger the coffin maker are challenging the gnome rider, but the gnome thinks Captain Mannings Fez, is a poor copy of a pointy red hat. at the other end of the street, Alderman Wildaughter is making sure the street is keep closed, and is awfully sorry to be doing this to the good towns folk of Cabbage. Well that the history around the Cabbage Home Watch with the part paint figures added to the street scene mainly from Peterpig range with some plastic parts mainly legs. Expect Alderman Wildaughter who is the plastic musketeer conversion.
  5. Thinking about the Town Watch figures might do the Discworld version of Dad's Army & have. It made up of young boys & old men. So like Heawkins I have almost have 2 cultural references. Started yo paint figures.
  6. Peterpig bundle has arrived so 1st to be work on are some for the Town Watch & street scene. To add a bit of height to 15mm figures which is along 4ft tall in HO some plastic legs & parts have been used. Captain of Guard is in a long coat but has a fez, 2 Musketeer, 1 loading 1 in sentry stance, 2 crossbow men, I to be looking through window of Guard Tower. Also a bolt thrower wheeled, a gnome on giant snail 1 drunk asleep & begger. More to follow as they get painted.
  7. I have been posting about this challenge & Cabbage Brewey on another forum MTI Forum so have linked to it. http://forum.mtimag.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2181
  8. More done to 3 street buildings, altered some of the windows in Dapol Inn, filled in some parts, work done to 2nd storey of shop large window added at front in place of door, door to be used at rear. Start of chimney stack at back. Guard Tower some work done to finish off chimney. Brick base added for Inn on the slop with celler door & paving stones. Start made to street from Willis sett sheet with some cobbles to side alley. Some figures on way 15mm Peterpig for Brewey drawfes, town watch plus other fantasy types.
  9. Work has been continuing on the scenic side. With building up the different levels using various thickness of foam sheet. Overall view of diorama from above, Brewery Yard on left, street scene to the left. Much of the work has been to build the base for the street scene. Base for building cobbles between building base for Guard Tower, using Willis cobble sheet plus an old Pola base for square tiles base cut down for Guard Tower.
  10. Work continues on Guard Tower, nearly finished the stone work for the tower, church walls for 1st built part of tower, later stone work on chimney, staircase & upper level armoury. Just need outer part of chimney added & green stuff filler, then can have a coat of grey primer. Before wooden upper walls & roof. Also so been converting 1st town guard a Musketer for one of the upper opening in the wooden top. Again one of my real mixtures, built to about 19mm tall for 1/87 scale . converted out of Airfix bowman grey torso & head & helmet, pink leg & armour skirt from Esci Barbarian , arms loading musket cut down rifle yellow from Hat set used on Brazilian Coffee railway staff, plus thin strip of stone for over the shoulder ammo band, think he looks very English Civil War. Need primed & painted, place at one of the opening & wooden upper part finished. Well that the plan at this stage, things are changing as I build it. Have posted link to MTI Forum getting positive feedback, from fellow modellers whose work I have followed & aim to copy like Giles Barnabe.
  11. Work has started on Town Watch Guard Tower, Tri-ang & Airfix Church walls aroun central tower section. Two of the Airfix walls have a single window lined up with resin section. Main door in from Tri-ang window section. Next to be added stairs & chimney tower from different stone sheet. Then wooden covered top with small widow. Started looking at figures for Town Watch, bowman to have crossbow or musket added. Also looking into some 15mm figures for dwarfs at brewery think Cabbage Brewery might be a dwarf run. Peterpig figures look like possible source War of Roses or English Civil War might be about the best dressed for Discworld era.
  12. Been doing a little more work found a resin small house which was more an ornament than a scale which is going to become Town Watch Guard Tower. So it was a case sawing it up into small piece which could be reassembled into a Guard Tower. This feels more like doing war gaming than model railway. Once into parts work on tower can begin, walls from Tri-ang & Airfix Churches plus other spare box parts. Even looking at Town Watch figures bowman to become musketeer.
  13. Start on the scenic base for what I think I'm going to call Cabbage Brewery. The scene will be on different levels the lowest been the Brewery Power Plant, the Copperage, then main Brewey Yard with stables & loading platform. with the street scene on a few deferent levels to make it look a little more houchpotch in style, as if the bBrewery has been squeezed into available land.
  14. After an I forced break for some family time. Return to planning for Brewery Siding. Going to use 16.5mm track but Irish OO9 wagons made standard gauge more HO. Some more parts found in spare box, factory chimney, walls with iron fencing & steps. Been having a mock up in Cakebox. One of the houses to become Brewery gatehouse. With room for the 2 shops house plus possibly a small structure.
  15. More work done to 1st building, ground floor using Willis stone walls & shop parts. 1st floor built from HO European house walls which I had to hand, cut to fit. More work needs to be done. With roof added starting to look the part. Separate ground floor & 1st floor Without roof With roof popped on more work need to extra parts stairs etc.
  16. After a little thought Winter Maltings might not be a Victorian Era model following the popular Culture idea from Hawkins I thought about a Discworld Inspired layout. so I can be a little more off the wall with ideas. 1st I've cut apart one of the shops removing the roof which is going to be modified unto a 2 story building with ground floor shop. Making it taller & narrower with original roof turned around. Using other plastic walls to do this. I have also got the figures which I had offered HonestTom for his Discworld inspired layout. The wagons on the layout will be Dundas 4mm Irish ones made to fit 16.5mm track. So might be 1/87 scale layout again. The Malting/Brewery is a plaster cast building which will need a I closed life added to right hand side to cover the glue marks. The left hand side been a boiler house taking in some sort of fuel, perhaps dragon dung or something like that rather than coal. I want to see how much I can use from my loft full of over 30 years of model train collecting.
  17. Thanks Phil, I just was a little confused & imagined that I had read it some where. Quick question will the 2018 Cakebox Challenge be in the next issue. Thanks again Confused of Ipswich.
  18. Quick question are any of the Cakebox Challenge going to actual feature in the BRM magazine. As I got the latest Issue February 2019 thinking that, the 2018 Challengle would be in it. I thought that Phil had mention that it would feature in this issue. Having scanned it cover to cover I can't see any 2018 Cakebox Challenge in this issue. Confused of Ipswich.
  19. Having had a look in my spare box for parts I think I'm got buildings to make Victorian Era Winter Scene of a Maltings or Brewery with half timber house & shops from an earlier Christmas layout. So I could have the Malting / Brewery Yard awaiting the arrive of a wagon or loco to collect the wagon. Perhaps on some different levels to give a bit of height. plus a few people in Victorian clothes to fill out the scene. The half timber house is from Dapol Inn but made smaller the shops are cheap plastic children toy
  20. had planned to visit Peterborough on Saturday. But family crisis came up. I was Peterborough Station for a little while. Helping family during crisis. Think modelling might be going on hold for a while. Would have been nice to put some faces to names. Perhaps another time in the future.
  21. Been sorting a few older models out, here is the level of detail I hope to work too on the various Brazilian Coffee Plantations layout. Here a close up of Coquimbo Traction a Chilean Urban Shoebox Micro. The FCE rather well worn 0-4-0T switcher shunting the factory siding above street level.
  22. Undercoated 4 new figures railcar engineer & conductor plus passengers, engineer from Hat solider, conductor Hat Dapol conversion, Sgt Mess & Unknown white metal figure altered to seating
  23. Completely new set of figures got for the Pith hats & shorts ideal in hot climbs, Hat WW1 British Tropical Troops, 2 conversations started a seated engineer & conductor for small railcar slightly smarter than Ruston crew, the seated engineer started as kneeing solider much altered & conductor from standing solider legs & head with Dapol driver body.
  24. Work continues on Drovers Van & Tank wagon. But here some view on the basic layout base of Them along with Hospital Railway Road Van OO, Traction MoW van & Ruston diesel.
