I note that you say you increasingly use Hunt couplings for 00. They now produce 009 couplings which might be worth trying. These have the advantage of also coupling to the \Peco/Bemo style couplings.

Love the computer generated sequences of what could go wrong but didn't know full size locos have tension lock couplings. Also I didn't know 'The Large Prairie'was the name of the loco. Will now get my coat.
