  1. Oops forgot to mention to make allowances if modelling in OO or EM. Tony
  2. All you Midland Modellers might be interesed in the structure clearances used by the company so I have attached a drawing of these. Please note previous comments regarding the drawings and that permission must be obtained from the MIdland Railway Study Centre if used for commercial or other than personal or research use.
  3. Well done. My system was always a bit Heath Robinson so I'm pleased theres a satisfactory outcome. Look forward to seeing how it all comes together. Strap rails whmm! Better give it some thought. Tony
  4. Back to the permanent way. I have taken the liberty of publishing a drawing of the points and crossings of the Midland Railway Company to assist modellers in getting them right. Needless to say and this I must emphasise this information must only be used for personal and research purposes. Those wishing to republish or use commercially must obtain permission from the drawing holders, THE MIDLAND RAILWAY STUDY CENTRE.
  5. Hi all There is a difinitive work on the 700 class Goods "Midland Engines No 4" available from Wild Swan or the Midland Railway Soc. Book Shop. It is very comprehensive and worth every penny. Tony
  6. Needless to say this drawing must only be used for research or personal use and may not be used for commercial or profit purposes without the permission of the holder- The Midland Railway Study Center Tony
  7. Now as they say something completely different. For all you Track building masochists out there a General Arrangement Drawing of the Midland Three throw Switch as used in sidings all over the system.
  8. Oh God, not more track building!!! Tony
  9. Thanks for that Stephen. The Jenkinson, Essary book only has diagrams of the 54ft and 6wheel versions. Tony
  10. As said previously the Midland built quite a few. Branchlines do an etched kit for the 48ft saloon. Part No. 4.47. in 4mm. They also do etched sides for 7mm Scale but you have to scratch build the underframe and roof etc. I can't find a diagram in Midland Carriages though!
  11. Firstly for those wanting information on the Society, the website may be accessed thus: http://midlandrailway.org.uk For those wishing to join the Society contact the membership secretary at: Email:membership@midlandrailwaysociety.org.uk Regards Tony
  12. I have just been appointed Modelling Co-ordinator of the above Society. My aim is to make available through Society publications information which will be of use to Modellers and will involve details of buildings, structures, rolling stock and anything else relevant to the construction of a believable model railway. For this to work I hope that people will treat this topic as a clearing house for information. So many of us have content we have collected over the years which it would be nice to share. I also propose publishing on this Website. See Topic: Midland Railway Company Regards to all Tony aka. Technohand
  13. According to all the published information he was fairly open minded but in comparison found fuel and oil consumption was inferior. However it must be remembered the locos were only a stop gap to overcome a supply problem in the British manufacturers. Tony
  14. All you Midland Railway Modellers. There is a topic: "Midland Railway Company" which is starting to come alive which will hopefully become a source of information. I am informing the Midland Railway Society of its existence so hopefully it will access a wider more knowledgeable base. Regards to all Tony
  15. had a look in the Midland Waggons Vol1.Does'nt appear to be anything like it. Have you looked at Southeast and Chatham Railway records? Tony
  16. Please note that the above pictures are reproduced for research and non commercial purposes only and may be subject to copyright.
  17. I started the Midland Railway Company Forum as there was little information on RMWeb on this company. There were some posts mostly about rolling stock as you will see if you go on it. I have copied the pictures from this site as I am sure other modellers are just as interested in the Midland way. If I have inadvertently breached copy right then I apologise. I thought that as they are effectively in the public domain no one could be offended. It is not my intention to make money out of the actions purely to add to the knowledge base. Regards Tony
  18. Further to my post I have taken the liberty of copying some of the pictures to The Midland Railway Forum and refered to these articles as a valuable source of information. Thanks Again Tony
  19. I have copied the above attachments from the "Stretcher Bars of the Midland Railway" Topic as I feel that all people interested in Midland Track Will be interested. There is a lot of very useful information in this Topic and I suggest every one reads it. I hope the authors of the topic don't mind the liberty I have taken.
  20. Thank you all for the information in this post. As a fellow Midland Railway modeller I have had great difficulty getting information on the way they did things especially regarding track work. This post has been of tremendous help. Thank you all
  21. What you need is some nice track to try it out on. Weather permitting I may have just the thing! Regards Tony
  22. Finished with 5ft Gauge American Railways for the time being. Hope to get back to constructing a Johnson 0-4-4t in EM. The chassis is a bit of a nightmare but I'm going for full compensation as per MRJ No3.Hopefully this will keep all the wheels on the track!
  23. We'll see how good the workmanship is when Eric completes the layout!
  24. Points are done. Seem to work OK. Mint gauge goes thru fairly well and some bogies to the right back to back go through the crossings and over the switches without falling off the track! Eric will do the pictures as its his model and I'm not clever enough.
