Different processes of formation @Andrew P.

The majority of mountains on Earth are the result of plate tectonics and associated volcanic activity, together with millions of years of weathering and erosion.

The craters on the Moon are predominantly the result of impacts from asteroids/meteors (one name applies and I’m not sure which).

Thanks to the Moon and the atmosphere, Earth doesn’t suffer a huge number of significant asteroid impacts - the Moon catches the brunt of them or they burn up entering the atmosphere - and the craters produced by those that do hit the ground, tend to get obliterated in short order* thanks to the processes of weathering and erosion. The Moon has no atmosphere and has been tectonically inactive for a looooong time, so there’s nothing working to obliterate the impact craters or produce mountain ranges like on Earth.

*a few million years - short in the geological sense of time.

Thank you, great answer, makes sense to me now. Cheers.

And you know this how, exactly?

Until more information emerges, I'd suggest that you desist from uninformed speculation about a potentially sensitive subject.

I was just surmising that it might be almost nothing, but blown out of all proportions by the press. He might just have said one wrong word.

I don't believe the FIA have any locus in this. It is an internal RB Team matter and does not affect RB's legitimacy on the grid. I suspect tales of Jos The Boss and Marko ganging up on Horner are wildly imaginary, but make good copy in this era.

More than likely he just told a member of staff to do their job properly, and that person got offended, and so complained that they had been told off.

As much as I don't like Horner as a person, if all that he has done is to tell someone off, then HE is doing HIS job properly, and so no case to answer.

However, a lot could depend on the manner of the telling off, i.e. swearing unnecessarily or in front of other colleges, then it becomes a different matter and takes on a new meaning.

Craig Slater's update on Christian Horner's hearing.

The interview with Horner, who has denied the alleged offence reported by a Red Bull employee, concluded before 7 PM London time this Friday, having lasted around 8 hours. No resolution has been reached at this point, a long process can be expected.

Christian has continued to maintain his innocence in the matter and wants to clear his name, however the timescale of the process is independent of Formula 1 and its season ahead.

This suggests the ongoing investigation may remain over the team's launch of the 2024 car on February 15th:

“My understanding is this will operate to the timescale which the investigator sets, not to a Formula 1 timescale. It means there’s every likelihood it could still be ongoing, this process, even as Red Bull are launching their car next Thursday, which is the 15th of February."

"It could even still be ongoing as we enter Formula 1 pre-season testing in Bahrain on the 20th of this month. It may be carry on towards the first Grad Prix of the season on the 2nd of March."

"It's awkward for the team but paramount in all of this is that there is fairness to the parties involved and that’s why they employed this independent investigator in the first place.”

Wasn't Horner's hearing supposed to be today?

I guess that if we don't hear anything, it was just another nonsense story from the media.

Ongoing and details and results some time next week, OR Maybe after Testing starts.

Auto Motor und Sport reports that hearings on the matter involving Christian Horner are due to take place this Friday at the Red Bull factory.

A possible decision could be made quickly, preferably before the team launch on February 15th.

Christian Horner is still continuing his responsibilities as normal and was present the F1 Commission meeting yesterday.

Like you and alluded to by Rich, @MarshLane above, I have done very little on my "Tonleigh Bridge" project due to playing sometimes 3 nights a week and constantly having to learn new songs for backing Different performers, all in the name of F U N. I hope to see US BOTH back on here again soon mate.

Yes that is me hiding at the back.

As daft as the name is, the livery isn't terrible and the blue harks back to the Toro Rosso days, a livery I liked.

    Jo

It IS the 2nd best Livery of those launched so far IMHO, with Stake still out front.

  10. BREAKING: The British Grand Prix is confirmed to stay on the calendar until 2034. The historic Silverstone Circuit will continue to give us wheel-to-wheel racing for 10 more years!

We need paint to be excluded from the minimum weight regulations because most teams are skimping on paint (there's a lot of black this year). It's ridiculous.

More Sponsors = More Stickers = more weight.

I wished that stayed with the pink or the Renault yellow, we have too much blue on the grid.

    Totally agree with that. 👍

Maybe THE NEW Merc will be Red and the Ferrari YELLOW which is an original Ferrari colour before they went to Red. And Red Bull could be Pink, i.e. faded Red. And McLaren White with red bits. 😂

  13. Sauber C43 vs Stake F1 C44:

Many changes to STAKE, inc cockpit height and lower rear wing height. it could be interesting.

    PLUS
The front wing maintains a close resemblance to the 2023 car, but a noticeable change is evident in the front pull rod configuration.
