  1. What else did Japan get from the Austin rover range? I know they had MGRV8s and Rover tomcats as these sometimes appear for sale in Jap spec. Would be nice if they'd had metro turbos but I doubt it
  2. What are those GB 73s doing up there, have they got GB drivers on them? I was on the RTC last week first with the saloon and then with the 68s, wondered if I'd see you was with Tim Howlett and we got Mike Jones as our IM driver
  3. There was an electro diesel trolley bus in this country . It's preserved at the sandtoft museum in working order https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:SYPTE_trolleybus_2450_(C45_HDT)
  4. There were no drainage channels with most if not all aftermarket sunroofs as they actually sit slightly proud of the roof unlike the factory ones which sit flush and can retract under it. Peugeot 205s and 309s had glass panels which slid along the top of the roof
  5. I had a maestro EFi back in the 80s which had the largest sunroof britax made, it used to leak so I took it to a britax specialist and was told the hole was too big! I cot it too seal in a fashion with a load of silicone but really it required a new roof panel
  6. I was at Leicester on Thursday, at the end of platform four in the cess is a hydrant with a hose still attached to fill boiler tanks on loco's
  7. There used to be a daily two way job from Doncaster to Heaton service every day in the 80s conveying stuff to and from works
  8. I like the 70s custom idea. Not keen on that vinyl roof especially on the pillars as any rust in the seems is A not going to show itself until it's got advanced and B would be a sod to put right, and you certainly don't want to de-seam it. Insurance companies get a bit funny about that. I've seen some where the car is almost held together with filler!
  9. Very nice Nidge . Are you putting UK spec number plate lights of leaving it as it is?
  10. Looks like it's having a pretty comprehensive restoration
  11. I can't remember the railscout one that must have been before that strange continental unit. The 121 has had some serious body mods. What happened to it?
  12. Whilst I enjoy summer motoring in my MGf with the top down sometimes it is nice to enjoy the coolness of aircon
  13. It was flattened I think but it may just have been buried. I actually worked in it when as part of my YTS I had a placement on the down hump. Happy days
  14. My A series has about 115 bhp , I quite fancy some vehicle for the summer with aircon. I'd like it on the van but there was never a pump that I know of for a Perkins prima
  15. Excellent pictures David. Trying to work out what's going on with the down hump cabin in the first picture there are steps to the roof and a rail round it. I can't remember seeing it like that it may have been something to do with the developers who built a huge mound there
  16. Factory aircon on an A series, sounds interesting if I could fit the cooling matrix in my metro heater box that could be interesting. There was an aircon kit on eBay a few years ago for a mk1 metro but that hat a separate box under the heater with cooling ducts
  17. Seems strange to only give the 2600 marina a single carb
  18. Love those pictures of Ipswich depot, Freightliner could probably use that these days. I always find it a little strange that no 15s ever received blue. For many years I thought they had as black and white pictures of them in green with arrows can be hard to determine the colour
  19. A few interesting points there Is the E series actually lighter than the B? The E series is a serious lump of metal! Austin rover did a V6 version of the V8 for the 6R4 but that was 2991cc , the first two prototype cars were still 2 valve heads the rest being 4 valve and quad OHC Were the Australian v8 '1800s' front wheel drive? Interestingly the V8 will sit on the 1800 gearbox with a few mods to the primary gears, I've seen a few minis in magazines using that arrangement. BMC did two Austin three litres with Rover V8s but was considered too close a rival to the P6b Were the v8 1800s ADO16 bodies or Kimberlys?
  20. A few years ago practical classics had an item about E series marina's asking if anyone had had a 2600 one and survived due to the dubious handling!
  21. Why do none of the present day liveries look anywhere near as go as the original ones. Note to high paid livery creators loco's and units do not have lots of curves!
  22. If it doesn't damage the pan or the overheads that's ok
  23. I wonder who will be the first to run an 88 off the wires thinking they were they were in a 68 ,other than the panel to the right the controls are identical
  24. Ford transit engines strapped underneath them ....!
