  1. If you were starting from scratch couldn't you use the Cobalt Ip Digital motors? Only GBP3 more expensive than the Cobalt Ip Analogue version and includes the decoder..

  3. We will also be stocking Peco bullhead flextrack and turnouts when they become available. Steve Model Railway Imports Canada
  4. DCC Concepts No Clean Flux now showing as in stock at Gaugemaster. http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=DCDCS-SFNC&style=main&strType=&Mcode=DCC+Concepts+DCS-SFNC Steve
  5. Hopefully Gaugemaster will stock it so that we can get it from them as we want to be able to stock a complete track system.. We currently stock the Gaugemaster Non-Acid Safety Flux - perhaps this is the same thing with a different label? Perhaps Richard can let us know what the status of the flux is? 6. Thanks Richard, That was a very useful and complete answer. We specialize in the supply of British model railway products here in Canada and are planning to stock your track and turnouts. Knowing that it has been so well thought out and contains instructions with every length is encouraging. As long as Gaugemaster will ship us your No-Clean flux we should have no problems supplying everything the modeler needs to use your product. Steve Model Railway Imports Canada
  7. Hi Richard, The Hattons ad says the rail is stainless steel. In my experience, soft soldering to stainless steel is difficult - how do you envision making power connections? Thank you, Steve

    Q6

Well let us hope that ALL retailers will get their orders filled from this delivery and it will not just be Hattons, Rails and the Hornby on-line store. Sounds like a desperate attempt to bring in some cash before month end.
  9. Hello, I have 1 x CC1004 and 11 x CC1002 wagon kits in stock. Unfortunately postage from Canada may be prohibitive but I would be happy to give you a quote if you let me know your requirements. Items shown on our website are in stock, we promptly reply to all emails and always ship within one business day of receipt of payment. http://www.modelrailwayimports.com/products.php?BID=12&CID=15 Steve Model Railway Imports Canada
  10. Hi Shaun, Hopefully your repair method works but if not I still have Bachmann J72 and other Bachmann split chassis gears and spacers in stock. Steve Model Railway Imports Canada
  11. Sorry. I thought we were talking about how Hornby could improve revenues - not how individuals could get their toys cheaper. Steve
  12. If you do not have a local hobby shop it is just as easy to buy on-line from any number of hobby retailers where discounts are regularly given as it is to buy direct from Hornby. In my opinion (as a hobby retailer), Hornby should always sell direct at full RRP or not sell direct at all. Steve
  13. I think a re-release of EM2 or the L1 4-4-0 could be very successful judging by how fast they are snapped up for good money when available for sale on eBay. Steve
  14. When we started our model train business 10 years ago I thought exactly the same thing and I did not stock the 4 wheel coaches or Smokey Joe and several other 'toy' items. After getting a few requests for the above I started stocking them and since then I have sold more 4 wheel coaches than any other single Hornby coach. Sales of Smokey Joe are only exceeded by Flying Scotsman and Mallard. Who would have thought! Steve
  15. There definitely needs to be a "WTF" button!
  16. Photo I took of Sir Nigel in the York roundhouse - spring of 1967 - in the same condition.
  17. The company I last worked for decided to do the same thing - circulating all reports. etc. electronically. What actually happened was most recipients printed everything off on their network colour laser printers negating any savings!

    A3 Book Law

Has anyone returned their A3 to Hornby or reported the errors in livery and assembly to Hornby? Just curious. Steve
  19. I am 100% sure they did :-)
  20. Hi Jason, Will this be another exclusive commission/joint venture or will retailers have the opportunity to sell it too? Steve Model Railway Imports Canada

    Hornby K1

Instead of removing metal from the high points of the chassis, is it not possible to shim the main contact points a few thou to raise the body?

    Bachmann 1F

Thanks John, Compared to the several dozen photos of 1Fs I found, the Craftsman chimney appears to be the correct width. Not sure if any one makes a turned 1F chimney I could replace the warped one with. I have not seen a photo of 41661 so it is possible it had a slightly slimmer chimney. I wish more kit manufacturers would include backhead detail. Injectors, water gauges, fireholes, etc, take almost as long to make as the rest of the kit. Luckily I have a good stock of Mainly Trains detailing etches so handwheels and reversing levers are not a problem. Steve

    Bachmann 1F

Here is my Craftsman 1F 41838 with Bachmann's 31-431 41661. Both were Stourton locos for a while during the '50s so this may be a prototypical scene. The Craftsman loco has had many detail parts added that were not included with the kit and I think the two locos compare quite well although the Craftsman chimney is a bit wonky which naturally I did not notice until I saw the photos! Ask Dave

Hello Dave, I emailed 'info@djmodels.co.uk' regarding a trade account about a week ago and have not received a reply - I just wanted to make sure that you have received it. There is some interest in your new products here and I would like to be able to start taking orders. Thank you and best regards, Steve Model Railway Imports Canada
