  1. Hi Lez, I built one a few years ago and have attached the instructions. Cheers! Steve, Canada MPD_3F_Page_10001[1].pdf
  2. Thanks Mike, That is pretty much the same conclusion I had reached. Unless some irrefutable evidence is found in the meantime, I will be using cream. I do enjoy reading your about your NER loco builds as my interests are very similar. Cheers! Steve Canada
  3. Hi Mike, Do you know what colour the number and British Railways would have been - white, cream or yellow? I will be painting my Arthur Kimber Q5 in the same early livery and see Modelmaster have the 3 colours available. Thanks, Steve Canada
  4. I received the following email from ModelMaster on October 4th shortly after the email saying nameplate and tranfer production was ending: " The 4mm Scale ex North British Kits are still being produced, but I've lost one of my cad designers (he works in pharmaceuticals, so he's a bit tied up at the moment!) I'll send updates every couple of weeks - there's no changes to prices, nor to specifications! I'll STILL be producing transfers for them, despite my earlier announcement, Best regards Jim Grindlay"
  5. One of my customers had a similar problem with a Hornby loco a few years ago. When I removed the motor and looked at the gears I found one of the body fixing screws stuck to one of the gears with the grease. It would rotate half a turn in each direction then jammed. I removed the screw and all was well. I hope it is a s simple for you Rob. Steve Canada
  6. Looks great Jonathan! Steve C. (retired) ex. Model Railway Imports, Canada
  7. The picture is shown reversed - look at the numbers!
  8. Agreed Jeremy, the Tamiya stuff is definitely the best, but I have successfully used the green stuff without issue. I think a lot has to do with how well the primer has adhered... Cheers! Steve
  9. I cut a piece of masking tape the same size as the buffer beam with two holes* for the buffers to poke through. Then wrap a strip of tape around each buffer. * They don't need to be circular holes, just a cut X centered on the buffer will work. Cheers! Steve
  10. I saw several withdrawn A4s at the Plant all complete with their nameplates and other bits.
  11. As a Canadian company specializing in British model trains, I have to purchase much of my stock from the UK and Europe. I pay all my invoices by credit card in advance of shipping and pay my credit card bills promptly which gives me almost 30 days credit, and I get cash back on the card I use the most, with no interference or service charges from the bank so possibly a solution for yourself?
  12. Hello Robed, I built one of these a few years ago and recall it was quite a challenge and the instructions were not a lot of help. I believe I had a very early version and possibly later versions have been improved. My memory is not the best but I think the back of the boiler butts up against the front of the firebox and is secured with a bolt through the formers. The other end runs all the way through the smokebox and is covered by the etched wrapper. The boiler was not included and I rolled my own from 10 though brass - the small dent was removed later. Good luck with your build! Steve
  13. Thanks Mark, That is really very interesting and I am looking forward to seeing your photos. Your help is very much appreciated. Steve Canada
  14. Thanks Frank, I will get my friend to check.
  15. My friend picked up this diecast 0-6-2T at an auction here in Canada and we have been unable to identify its make or type of loco that it represents (if any). It looks similar to an early Dublo N2 but there are some differences to the body and chassis. The motor drives the central axle rather than the rear axle of the Dublo N2 and there are no makers marks inside the body, The photos show it next to a Dublo N2 for comparison. Any help with the identification is greatly appreciated.

  20. Unfortunately even though we are one of the largest stockists of exclusively British model trains and accessories in North America this will not support a storefront. However if you are in the area - you are always welcome to call ahead to make an appointment to visit and pick up items or take a look at items in stock. 21. Hello George, If you asked me I would tell you :-) I recently purchased the entire stock (>5000 items) of a local British model train business as the owners wished to retire after over 40 years in business. There were quite a lot of Cooper Craft wagon kits included in the sale and I wasted no time in uploading these to my website. These are mainly kits from before the Paul Dunn era. http://www.modelrailwayimports.com/products.php?q=cooper+craft&s=5 There were many other vintage and discontinued items included in my purchase and these will also be uploaded to my website as time allows. Everything had been carefully stored in the owner's home (not garage or damp basement) and is in excellent condition. Anything in less than pristine condition is being sold off at local model train flea markets. I hope the above solves the mystery. Steve Model Railway Imports Canada
