Hello Alan, great to see you have been model building after Factory Lane Siding was sold on.
I do like the small but beautiful layout approach you have made, it does look that it will be very interesting to operate.
I'll add this to my "ones to watch" list.
Stay safe
Regards
Thanks Mark. I have been following your progress with the build.
Stay safe yourself.

Hi Alan
Any chance please of the track plan, or a overhead photograph.
Many thanks
Terry
"Back of a fag packet" layout sketch - not to scale though. The two headshunts are deliberately short to take just a tank loco and one wagon to make shunting the front siding awkward.
The loco pushes 3 wagons in from the fiddle stick and then swops them with the 3 already in place. It's possible to have 2 wagons in either the front or rear factory siding.

Thanks, Yes good now cheers and we cant wait to get the Band back with some rehearsal's again soon, even though Pubs and Clubs can't do bookings yet.
Keep well and Stay safe.
2020 been a real wipe out from a music perspective. We played our last gig on March 7th and had a pretty full diary booked but all cancelled of course. We did manage one rehearsal though!

I do like that, very simple, but also very inspiring.
Thanks Andy. Hope things are OK with you now after your recent scare.

This is my O Gauge Cameo layout that I have been slowly working on for the past couple of years - still much to do I am afraid. Updates will probably be sparse as I currently do not have much spare time.
The "white" square in the first pic is where a builders yard premises will eventually stand. There are still fences, gates and general clutter to be added at some point.

Hello Tomathee. I've been a bit 'out of it' so not up to date. The only other one I know for certain is Modelshop-Northants on the Wellinborough Road, Northampton and also some vague memory of a place in Brackley.
Clearly I've missed one or more somewhere. Could you please enlighten me? Ta.A&H Models are in Brackley.

My previous layout Factory Lane Sidings (since sold) was freight only and only 11 foot 6 inches long. Might give you some ideas:

MRJ is proper old school, fortunately the same sort of school I went to.
Cow gum and non-repro blue pencils and if we was lucky a copyproof machine (for growing massive crystals in).
I know what you mean but I think it works perfectly the way it is.
We were slightly better as we had a waxer!

Hi Don, one thing I have learnt is to ensure that the scalpel blade is sharp but I have also read advice that it is a good idea to paint both sides of the board to avoid warping. Have you found this is the case as it could be a problem painting the inside when the building is complete and ready to paint. This would also apply , I imagine, if you are covering the outside with modelling clay as well. It may be a good idea to add additional bracing before completing. All interesting questions that come up when you are working with a new material. Any help and advice would be appreciated.
Regards Rob
Hi Rob,
Another foamboard user here. I normally clad in plasticard and add an internal layer also to combat warping. I have also recently been using UHU por glue which is foam friendly.

Thanks for all the comments and likes for the cottages.
Though to most they looked finished to me they weren't, so over the last few weeks I have been working on them.
Not fully finished, because do we ever finish our layouts?, but to nearly finish.
I have added, seats. washing lines, bikes, dustbins, chairs, gardening tools, wheel barrows, actually fixed the building to the base and sealed the gap at the junction, shrubs, more plants, weeds and things I have now forgotten about.......!!
So here are a few of my favourite views.
Hopefully, the modules will not be removed again, easy to do but heart in mouth job nevertheless as one slip and.........
Fantastic modelling!

Looking good Rob. I also use the building mock up methods. I like layouts where the locos and stock dive between buildings etc.

Which area did Barton cover ? Was it mainly the Midlands ?
His office was in Chilwell, Notts at their head office but he covered all of their routes as far as I know.

O.K. Tony, I'll build ONE MORE Layout, and you can come and help Dee with the final packing etc, haha.
Keep well and safe.
Hi Andy,
You could build a micro, I am sure it would be finished by the end of the day!
Good luck with the move.

It would be an eye-catching way to take a layout to shows...
Off topic, but I understand Neil Young and his band used to travel to bookings in a hearse with their gear in the back in his early days.

Only just found this great little layout. Very nicely done. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Alan long time no read, have you started any new projects yet?

EDIT just had a look at your profile on here and can see you have been posting. Some of the topics look of interest to me so I'll be visiting them. Also there are a few names on there that I remember that I seem to have lost touch with since the server upgrade.
Hi Mark,
I have a small cameo layout on the go but progress is very slow. I haven't got round to starting a thread yet.

Only just discovered this thread. I also remember the old layout at Slaters and have walked the route a couple of times.
Thanks for sharing the build.
