  1. An excellent show this year, well worth a visit. Two of my favourite layouts Copenhagen Fields and and Mostyn together with other great layouts makes a great show, it will take some beating. Halifax King Cross deserves a mention, first time I have seen this layout very impressive. Well done to all who made it possible.
  2. A bit more work on the layout, really have struggled with the track plan. Each to their own but single track terminus does not inspire me. I always want a lot going on with a layout, nothing against people with more patience than me!! I was going to have just a goods yard but again the interest in operating a 20 foot layout for four sidings became a no no. Anyway I have opted to double track the terminus with a parcels depot and a small MPD. Here are a few pics of progress. Next jobs: Finish baseboard joints. Finish laying the track Wire up the layout A good tidy up and test - simples!!
  3. I spent yesterday a great show well worth the trip. A very good balance of layouts and trade, thanks to all who made the show possible. We had an in depth conversation with Roy Jackson on the art of coach building, very interesting and I will be having a go. The hobby is a fascinating one and is always full of surprises and it is exhibitions like this one that keep the interest and give inspiration. Oh and star buy was for me a GNR tender kit from BRANCHLINES, being after one for ages and the guys face when he realised he had a sale and took money off a Yorkshire man = priceless!!! Anyway I can now build the snowplough for Finsbury Park
  4. This is my first starting from scratch topic, see how it goes. A while ago I bought an unfinished layout on e-Bay. My intention was to use the SMP track and point motors on my next project Finsbury Park, however when I met the seller he mentioned it was to have been a L & Y branch terminus and he had hope the buyer would finish the layout. A ha an idea, as I had nor built a layout for while and I have chosen to go for scale track 4mm I would complete the layout as a practice and test track for the bigger project Finsbury Park. Excuse the mess in the background in the railway room as I have not finished the house yet and there is quite a lot of gear in there that should not be!! The pics below show the layout as bought with an extra board at the end. The construction is with sundella board, which I am not a fan, but I have a few extra boards from a friends old layout which I am recycling for the fiddle yard on FP. I have posted this as I hope it will gee me up to make some progress at a reasonable pace!!
