  1. I hesitate to reply as I fear this will divert the thread (again) from "Things that make you :)". Not being a military expert, it isn't something I was aware of. I can't imagine that the Ukrainian military haven't thought about the problem and they have been clever and adaptable so far. A couple of thoughts come to mind: there may well be bridging equipment going with the tanks and I am assuming the tanks will arrive by rail and be transported nearer the front line by rail and the railway bridges support locomotives which are heavier than tanks aren't they?
  2. That's it. Rub it in, why don't you! 😉 Still waiting for mine. ☹️ P.S. Hope you're over the worst of the flu.
  3. This made me smile. In this article about the Ukrainian tank crews currently being trained in the UK to operate Challenger II tanks. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-64748450 "Sasha raves about its suspension and manoeuvrability, and easy access to the engine. The driver is also the mechanic. But he particularly likes the fact that inside there's a very British piece of kit to heat water for cups of tea." I couldn't help thinking that if the leading comedy writers in any other nation in the world were writing a sketch about British tanks a distinguishing feature would be the ability to make a cup of tea! Excellent. Proof that the British military can get the specification correct. What a morale booster.
  4. I'm not a GWR modeller, so these may not be suitable for locos: https://www.dartcastings.co.uk/frogmore.php
  5. Win 10 with FF 64 bit ver 109.0.1 like you, Keith. Wouldn't play for me - play arrow in middle of blank screen. Turned off ad blocker (uBlock Origin), reloaded page, played without any problems. Anecdotally, I have had a slight increase in the number of websites having similar problems recently and have just been putting this down to either newer additions to the list of what is blocked or more websites looking for ad blockers. The problems remain insignificant and I still have no intention of turning off my ad blocker as I find adverts too intrusive. (I can't even stand watching tv channels like itv these days and not just because most of the programmes are low quality.)
  6. You'd think the axe would have been enough to put people off!
  7. I'd be happy with a match where I could see what England's attack plan was! As is often the case, he has a good squad, full of quality players. Can Borthwick and his coaching team (and the players) mould a team from them? At present, I feel that is the difference between England and the effective teams of Ireland and France.
  8. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-63952492 'Eden' and 'Morecambe'. Two words I didn't expect to see together.
  9. Is that Irish then to avoid Scottish whisky? 😀
  10. Ah, I wasn't aware of Dombrandt's injury but then there is almost three weeks to go. I quite like it when Simmonds comes off the bench to offer a different style of no. 8 play. I wasn't actually thinking of the Scotland match but simply having some fun trying to pick a 15 from the squad. As you say, Smith and JvP aren't the finished article but they are both very talented and need international game time in a World Cup year. I agree completely about Smith and Farrell not gelling as a pair. Much better to use them interchangeably to vary the style of play. Plus it presents the option of playing a proper pair of centres. I like Farrell but he is not a running threat. Whether Slade gets a run may depend on how various centre combinations work in training. He's a classy player who can feed 11, 12 & 14 around him if they're running good lines and can also put in some nice little kicks. As for the Scotland match: Russell seems to still be in form so I suppose Borthwick has to decide what to do about their controlled chaos. A lot of people seem to think Borthwick prefers a more old fashioned game but I think he's smarter than that and I'm looking forward to this 6N. 6N thoughts (in no particular order): England - Will be under some pressure to perform but perhaps relieved a little by it being so soon after a change of management that no one expects things to work so quickly. Ireland - Current world no. 1 in the rankings, they need to figure out how to perform (consistently) without Sexton. France - Possibly the best side in the world at present and they'll be the World Cup hosts. Wales - Gatland back and they need to shape up. Italy - Still keen to show they're not always going to be wooden spoon winners. Much improved and they still want to beat England. Scotland - I doubt anyone will be betting on them to win the 6N but they're capable of beating almost anyone.
  11. I was looking at the squad list yesterday and attempting to predict the starting 15 but found it difficult to do. It's a quality squad but who can tell if they will gel as a team? I only got as far as: 1 Genge 2 George 4 Itoje 5 Hill 6 Lawes 8 Dombrandt 9 van Portvliet 15 Steward I found it particularly difficult to figure out 10, 12 & 13 but then so did Eddie Jones!
  12. A sheepy version of this? https://visitwalesimages.thedms.co.uk/eandapics/MW/vlarge/0827299_1_8.jpg For some reason I'm reminded of Monty Python.
  13. It's hard to tell what is going to be turned out. This page shows 5167 in LNER green: https://railsofsheffield.com/blogs/news/sonic-announce-oo-robinson-lner-class-a5 This page shows 5167 in GCR green: https://railsofsheffield.com/collections/oo-robinson-a5-gcr-class-9n It also has no. 6 in GCR green and I can't help but wonder why there would be two variants in this condition but the descriptions match the photos. I'm glad I ordered an LNER black one. 🙂
  14. You may well be correct but the painting was probably done in the ex-GCR workshop at Gorton so it seems odd that it differed.
  15. I don't think it is a sample. Rails describe it as "GCR green", so it represents a locomotive shortly after grouping, re-lettered as LNER, but prior to receiving LNER black. There appear to be two variants in GCR green with LNER and the slightly earlier L&NER. I'm puzzled by the GCR one though as it is shown with less ornate lining below the smokebox. Perhaps we will just have to wait a little longer for updated photographs before we know exactly what's coming?
  16. Steps - see earlier post by Woodcock in this topic: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/topic/150513-Hornby-w1-hush-hush/?do=findComment&comment=4694288
  17. A couple of ideas come to mind. Neither of which I have tried in this context though. - Use a scalpel to cut thin strips of double-sided tape. Apply strips of various lengths around the opening before pressing the mesh into place. - Use a soldering iron to melt the nylon. Rather than achieving a complete fix in one go, use either of the above methods to spot fix the mesh into place before using adhesive, paint or varnish to finish.
  18. Click on the link to open it in One drive. Towards the top left there is a download option. This assumes there is nothing preventing you doing this from down under.
  19. Anyone else worried about how Martin's mind works?
  20. I am reminded of somewhere I once worked which had a high level of security. Part of the set up was a tube-like door. You stepped inside, the door rotated locking you in, you applied your thumb & id card, the door rotated again allowing you to exit on the other side. Only one person had trouble: an occasional visitor from the US who always triggered the "only one person at a time" alert. He always had to wait for security to check his credentials and let him through the delivery entrance.
  21. Somewhere where people are very large. 4 people weighing 250kg each! Is it a lift in a hotel for sumo wrestlers?
  22. We also have a stainless steel mesh peanut feeder. The woodpeckers have no problem with that. They also seem to manage to clear up some of the spilt food on the main seed feeder that is caught by the tray under the base. The peanut feeder also attracts squirrels who stop in for a snack. They appear to be able to gnaw on a few peanuts but the mesh is too small for a whole peanut to pass through so it prevents them emptying the feeder. The main users of the peanut feeder are the blue tits though. I wish the niger feeder attracted more finches. They seem to have been in reduced numbers around here for the last few years.
