  1. I'm surprised that no one's mentioned yet that the sublime beauty of the spatial relationships contextualize the distinctive formal juxtapositions.
  2. KK has a PhD in Economic History. Surprising, therefore, that he didn't notice an absence of historic examples of trickle down economics working. His thesis was on the Great Recoinage of 1696. An(other) example of economic failure. I wonder if future undergraduates will have his example of how not to construct and announce a budget included in their BA syllabus?
  3. Chimney - I am undecided. Not so much about whether it is correct or not. More about whether it bothers me. I'll just have to wait and see, I think. Red buffer shanks - Definitely out with the black paint. Handrails on 5045 - Bright metal and grey plastic? If that isn't just the individual sample, some more paint will be needed. Smokebox door handle - Appears to be a solid moulding thereby making it more of a challenge to restore a nice finish if one chose to replace it with something better. Coal rails - Distorted and crying out for replacement with brass strip or maybe just some straight plasticard. Aside from the above it looks impressive and I'm looking forward to receiving the one I ordered.
  4. I'm starting to wonder if the Lib-Dems have activated their sleeper agent.
  5. The double white lining is a Gorton oddity. 5045 was turned out in 1925 with GCR style lining. I don't think any others got this. I understand that the outer lines would have had a vermillion edge too but presumably Sonic have omitted this because it was very fine. I can't find a real life example (not that reds came out well in photos anyway) but here's a model of a Q4 showing the vermillion edging to the double lining on the boiler bands and tender: https://www.facebook.com/653950138060160/photos/a.804228879698951/3556645164457295/?type=3&is_lookaside=1 Where have you seen "yellow/gold" lining? LNER goods locomotives were black with red lining up until a 1928 economy measure removed the lining leaving them in plain black. Secondary passenger locomotives retained the red lining.
  6. Which, of course, reminds me of the Not The Nine O'clock News version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS2N1mBsEdM
  7. Correct but only for light road vehicles (presumably one lane in each direction on the remaining cariageway) and no detail on whether they are using one or two of the rail lines (to me the photos appear to show clear damage to the walkways at the side of the rail lines but no clear shots of the lines themselves). Even if the Russians get everything up and running again it should still add to the nervousness amongst troops in Kherson about being cut off, which can only be a good thing. As a bonus, there is the boost to Ukrainian morale too.
  8. Sad news indeed. A truly inspirational modeller who, through his gentle humour and easy to read articles and books managed to make the most atmospheric finescale modelling seem accessible and achievable.
  9. Sewage disposal appears to be deregulated already. Without the law being applied firmly enough the water companies can just carry on as they have been doing, i.e. pumping sewage into the rivers and the sea whilst maintaining shareholders' dividends. The same seems to be true of waste incineration and energy generation.
  10. I am struggling to visualise Johnson as Ringmaster rather than as a major element of the lions' new diet.
  11. Not as cheap as Jason's example but when my last tube of the Bostik equivalent of UHU ran out I bought some Wilko own brand adhesive. I'll be sticking with it from now on! (Sorry.) https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-all-purpose-clear-adhesive-67g/p/0150158 https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-all-purpose-clear-adhesive-32g/p/0081178
  12. I think you're right to feel undecided about the reply, Mick. To me the addition of "for yourself" makes it sound like one of those non-apologies i.e. "I'm sorry if you feel offended" rather than "I'm sorry for the offence I caused". I suppose all you can do regarding the postage is complain again and request a refund and never buy their products again. It's galling when retailers and manufacturers just don't care.
  13. I cannot answer your question specifically but TV5monde is viewable on YouTube which may provide an alternative way of viewing it via your TV.

    Little Muddle

Will the thatch have a signature? I believe thatchers finished a roof with something that identified it as their work. For example, there is a thatched cottage near us that has a fox standing on the ridge. I have also seen birds e.g. pheasants, owls etc.
  15. And 'as before' you've done an excellent job, Chris. Keep it up and you'll soon be back on track. 👍
  16. It appears our new Chancellor's PhD was for a thesis on the Great Recoinage of 1696. Does that make him an expert in economic disaster?
  17. Near to the explosions, Bornholm was soviet for a year, so they ought to be on the alert for unexpected referendums.
  18. Really!? Interesting. Tell me, Hrothgar, what do you know about pipelines?
  19. Putin blamed the Anglo Saxons earlier this afternoon. If anyone has seen these people please inform, the Danish navy.
  20. I've just noticed that your fish-related costs are split into three components and, if they are added up, move to the top of the table. My fish knowledge is limited to filetting and cooking them. Perhaps there are more efficient tanks and accessories?
