  1. I worked for Post Officce Telephones in the early sixties ,lots of mud .horrible lorries, clothing not much cop, but we had a good many fun adventures .We used do three days trenching and then went rabbiting with some of the lads.We always left at least four chaps working on site in case the inspector appeared. The rabbits were shared out amongst those on site as always about twenty were captured and on a good day thirty. Happy days not like now,
  2. Market Garden could have been a success if more detail had been observed from further to Arnhem information that came from the resistance plus of course the landing grounds should have been moved .I feel that to much was hurried without taking into account the enemy ,I had a long talk a good few years ago when on a visit to the Netherlands were I stayed with a lovely familyhem they were children near to Arnhem . They wre pleased that the British attemptehen fighting with resistanced the battle but afterwards the famine was terrible and no help came from the occupiers as they were having a bad time as well .The faces were pictures of joy when describing the drops of food the Germans did not interfere with them ,but they were also sad thinking of friends who lost thier lives when fighting with the resistance. Thanks to everyone who has cotributed to this suibject I feel strongly as a meber of my family did not make it out. Thanks
  3. Winats Pass is a hell of a climb, used go there in the sixties and seventies to ride cycling hill climb races up it always middle of field of 120 used to race these events all over the country but enjoyed the northern ones best.Sometimes we drove around Mam Tor nice views but occasionaly they were working there on rebuilding it overall its a very nice part of the world.
  4. Glad you are feeling better it will do you the world of good to work on the layout ,but just run trains for now you got plenty of time to work when you are fully recovered . Keep well Chris
  5. Perhaps you should go to a locam model rly club and they will help you to understand about modeling plus read as many mags you and go to exhibitions

Wendover this morningI and the new road is all ready for use and the exit into Wendover is ready as well opposite there is a enormously deep cutting emerging from the chalk the exit from this is starting become obvious . Will see next week how much further progress is maybe the new rd will be open ?
  8. Get some more brewing and creosote the fences with the old stuff😉 You have to admire his determination hes been there for weeks!
  9. Think thats Cambridge the flour mill was a customer of my company when I worked in pest control ,filthy place no end of probs.
  10. Theres one of these in Hemel Hempsted fun in the rush hour but it works
  11. Went to Wendover today and after a long time went via Butlers Cross as we arrived into Wendover you come to left hand bend and traffic lights ,on the right there is a very big removal of the embankment and it is now a curved area,On the left you can see clearly the road that will take you around the houses but I cannot see the area where it will come out in Wendover this looks ready to use . But where the road will start has not been made ready for connection to the Butlers Cross road this will not take long to do the work. The line where it goes alongside the bypass is being readied for the next level of work. I dont think working on HS2 would be for me looking at all the mud !!!

  13. Agree with you but I can rember the government of the day pushed the decion to open into the dustbin many many people protested about the decision but were ignored as is the norm today.I can see rail investment halting after the next election as rail will be forgotten as other projects take over with billions wasted and no value to the people poloticians have shown with HS2 that they are not to be trusted,
  14. Like the story line and the layout looks really good shall followmthis.
  15. This section is looking really good sorry to see the problem but the answer seems to be a good way of curing it ,I had a problem with pony trucks becoming derailed as they turned towards platform.Found that I had not pinned the track and the whole section had moved but have now sorted out it and am happy again. It happens like that an d is a pain but at least it makes you look harder at the layout . I enjoy looking at your layout as this a part of the world that is so beautiful and amazing , my own layout is set north of the border in the south and I feel as though I go abroad everytime I unlock my shed !
  16. I like the way you are doing the scenery the whole layout looks really good and is developing well and must be very satisfying to complete more please.
  17. About time is the go slow finnished now?
  18. Several of the cats I have had used to enjoy helping me with my layouts a couple liked when I ran trains would sit alongside and tap them but not knock them off ,a niegbours cat joins me in my shed and sits on the door mat whilst I am in there.
  19. Good to see this layout back always enjoyed reading the updates and the laughs plus seeing the shots of trains running glad that its in for a refresh as they say ,bring it on !
  20. Glad the first section is coming together well but the arguments around the last section are worrying it seems that the relevant people in charge are unable to make a decisi on this is a bad time for the project. Its a real shame that the DFT did not pursue the project twenty years ago but hindsight is a wonderful thing as costs obviously would have been lower and there was a need then for the line. I hope that the Aylesbury extension is built but I am not filled with hope. There seems to be a view within Daft that its not a project they should promote ,typical where Aylesbury is concerned . Over the years a bypass has put on hold and other nescary works have been pushed back ,if the line to MK is opened and promoted in an energtic way passengers would be forthcoming .But with the attitude of Daft we are going to be waiting for a long time and I have a feeling that they are not really interested in a scheme that could take many cars off the road and also add many more journey options for the people of Aylesbury ,but dont hold your breath !!!
  21. Take care of yourself its good to see you back posting like the last set of photos thanks.
