Well, After great visions that the blog may help me move thyself.....I have failed.
At least I am putting up an entry. It is unfortunate that I keep forgetting to take pics although there are a couple here now.
Work is progressing on the layout.
I have even managed to put down nearly a packet of DAS Clay....looks like I have done nothing though.

Now I have to pull it up....why you ask.
Dumbo here, had been moving things about and did NOT double check the alignment.
Maiden Newton Goods shed is NOT aligned to the rest of the sidings as such. The line is on a curve. This also throws out the stub siding into the end of the platform for the cattle dock. It should run parallel to the mainlines and not kick back as in this pic. Ho Hum....
    I continue...........

I have been working on the road overbridge as well. The first lot of brick supports were Ok, well passable. So i have made new ones in a lot thicker styrene.

The above shows one under construction...I remembered to take a pic

Kept making one mistake and when you look at the photo's (noticeable in the pic looking side on of the bridge, I keep putting the bricks on the WRONG side of the supports....namely on the side you don't see....... I only noticed this while resizing to publish here.

And for the hell of it, the branchline terminal station was Bridport and then Westbay. For the purposes of my modellers license I am modelling Tetbury. Trackwork is done. One pic below.

Hopefully, I may be able to update a bit quicker...one consolation I will get there, so long as I don't croak it first!

Below is the link to a post, I posted in Hints and Tips for making the Toplights on Toplight Coaches.
If you read it you will find my first attempt is missing in action.....Still under something to keep it straight. That was over 12 months ago and I am yet to find what I did with it......some wives do have them and my wife has me

I will post images etc here so I can keep track of them and what I post etc.
I have used suburban body shells as the basis and while they may bulge a bit, they do look the part for a reasonable kitbash.
Two bodies to make 1 coach.
The images below really tell the story:
Compartment side. I have removed the material above the door vents for the length of the coach that has the Toplights. This equates to a 60"strip that needs to be put in after the cuts.

This is the corridor side that has still to be completed.

Compared to my scalpel work this paper cutter leaves me for dead....hopefully i will live long enough to have these completed and the layout completed and the yard and garden etc, etc etc

    Well, I bit the bullet!
One of the reasons the layout has been taking so long was that I was not happy with one of the baseboard joins....Weeeeell , actually I stuffed up. It turned out I had not put enough adhesive at some of the joints which allowed sag. So at the join I cheated and sanded the cork down.
    WRONG move!
When I found the issue I sorted it out but left the cork and just put packing under.

Now I have said I am not into DCC...that is partly due to a fear of electronics (is that electrophobia), although I have no interest in DCC anyway. So I have gone merrily on my way and made my points and single slips etc.

Because I started this blog to get me fired up to try to keep it updated I started to wire it all a couple of days ago.
Got one track going but wasn't happy with the performance and so this set me about pottering trying to sort the issue.
I cleaned the track, I recleaned the track. I used the multimeter on it, it showed power. I reused the multimeter, no power?????
Aha, At the tiebar, I found the faintest of spark...not all the time but it was there.
    That's not right!
The PCB tiebar has a cut in it to stop shorts..........
I have used pins for the rail to be able to move a bit rather than solder it sold
DING, DING, DING....Dopey Dimwit here has, made the cut at the top but forgotten the bottom which also has a copper coat.
After unsoldering the tiebar, sure enough it wasn't cut, so I duly did the next and them the loco's crawled along...BEAUDIFUL!!!

Well like I said above, I have bitten the bullet, lifted all the track in the area of the down end of the yard, replaced the cork so it is all correct now, and put the cuts in the bottom of the tiebars for the other points and single slip.

So while the glue is drrying a bit on the cork, I am sitting here having a cuppa, writing this before going out and tackling the reassembly of the trackwork.

    We live and learn.....

Well, this is my first blog, and I shall see if I can manage to keep up some momentum both workwise and blog wise.
I would not hold my breathe awaiting me to write something continually.

I asked some questions on the Modifying and detailing board re the Westward dressup kit ofr the Lima GWR Railcar and at the request of one of the members I posted a couple of photo's of progress:

The rest will be posted here on the blog. This way hopefully I will be able to keep things together.

I am modelling Maiden Newton in the very late 30's to early 40's.
For the space of have it nearly fits....but hey, it's only a model.
Track is laid and very sloooowly I am wiring it up.
I have said on groups before I am a heathen when it comes to DCC....just not my scene, sorry!
Slide switches will control points and polarity.
The all important gravity siding at MN will have the coach/s held by a wire coming up through the track centre, while the loco is shunting out of the way, then they will be able to gravity roll to the platform.

The rest of the blog will be about modifying and building things for the layout.
