  1. In 2011, the best half and myself did the trip of a lifetime to the UK. Timed for York amongst other shows. There was a chap there, demonstrating signwriting PO wagons and also lining of the coaches of which you speak.

No idea of his name but he made it look so easy.

He was using a long haired brush that just flowed.......like signwriters used to use all those years  ago, except smaller.

  2. Ray,

Now that there are others at the helm one can only hope things will improve. that said it will still take quite a while for those improvements (if any) show through the system.

As for being produced at a lower standard.....it was supposedly only in the sense of more moulded items as opposed to seperate items as I understood it.
That doesn't excuse the very poor quality control.

When you look at all these things you have to wonder whether they are worth supporting.

As you pointed out bringing manufacturing back to the UK isn't going to solve the issues of quality control, and is only going to cost more for the product.

It looks more like accountants are running the show without having any idea what they are doing!

  3. About 30 years ago, there was a guy at The Croydon Model Railway Club in Vic Australia who was doing a layout with superelevation. All the formwork was done in card. He only had a module there where he was demonstrating what he was doing. Looked brilliant! Don't know what ever happened, whether he finished it or not.

Be good to see this progree and will be watching with interest.
