  1. Two or three people , even four to share the cost and it is a good deal! Surprised there is not more of this happening with modellers to help keep costs down! Khris
  2. Hi all, Does anyone know where to source these....book/other TIA Khris

  4. Hi, Miss Prism, in the The Siphon thread has posted a link that has got me curious, as it features the rooves of some Toplights. https://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrls891.htm The question/s it raises for me is that I understood that originally there were 2 vents/compartment. As such I also understood that 1 vent was removed. I also understood that they were spaced across the coach and not lengthways. If you look at the image above you will find the closest Toplight has blanking plates across the coach and the next one has them lengthways along the coach. The first coach also has 2 blanking plates. Could I trouble someone to explain to me please: 1/ Why 2 plates across when one would assume there would only be one for the removed vent? 2/ Why some are placed lengthwise and not across the coach where one would assume they would be? TIA Khris
  5. Hayfield, All I can say is Thank You for posting all these builds. I have found I have learnt, and still am learning a lot from them. Brilliant for giving encouragement to those who have not tried or are still learning to build there own! Khris
  6. If they want containers they could always go to Melb Australia. They used to complain the railway was unsightly.....now everywhere is just full of containers not going anywhere, but being an eyesore! Khris Khris
  7. Ian, His actual review he has said it how he sees it, and shown the issues he has had with it straight out of the box. You cannot say it is unpleasant....if you don't agree with him. Anyone can post a review like his and it is only their opinion, and in this instance he has physically shown people why he has said what he has. khris
  8. True! BUT at the end of the day, when doing an opening like this, for any loco one would think that it would be shown, up on a baseboard with or without scenery, not on the carpet! Khris
  9. Gave up on Peters when I saw their postage prices. They are so expensive because they use Ebays ripoff Global Postage system. Was looking at some buffers on ebay and postage was going to be GBP 20 odd for GBP4 pack....go figure! Ebay have basically shot themselves in the foot with their GPS charges, that I don't look there much now! Andrew I would suggest buy it from a store/shop NOT on ebay! Khris
  10. You file the face of the side down the thickness of the overlay! Then glue the overlay onto the thinned down side! Khris
  11. Keegs the Factory siding needs to be a point off the up line!
  12. There is no reason you cannot have more than one of any dia of brake. Just different numbers! Khris
  13. Probably why Ashburton was so popular as it could be built as a scaled model without compression! Khris
  14. And here I was thinking you had the body
  15. Or just drill out the end vents! Khris
  16. Passenger door also looks wrong! Once seen you cannot unsee these things! Khris
  17. Yes it is a real worry, especially with the passing of Gordon (Eastwood Town) in recent days! Khris
  18. Thanks Andy....Khris

Lucky devil. With luck mine "may" arrive tomorrow. I am not surprised at how quick it has been. Anything bought from shops and businesses like Wizard, alan Gibson, and the like don't take a lot of time to get here. Purchases from ebay on the other hand, take a while. Khris

  22. Wishing you a quick recovery, if that is at all possible! Off the machines and all that. Khris
  23. Will probably add further iputus for the large retailers to keep commissioning models! The modellers and collectors get what they want and Hornby dip out....ho hum Khris
  24. I thought I prefaced my comments with: At the end of the day it is up to Hornby to get their act together BEFORE telling others how to do it. Biggest seller of model railways or not, there business model in recent years has NOT been the shining light to look up to. The fact that they cannot even order sufficient stock in the first instance is damning evidence that they do NOT have the capability even now of running the business properly, let alone forecasting their own needs!
