  1. Excellent news, many thanks for that, I'll keep an eye on your website. That signal box should be ideal for a plan I have in mind. Clive.
  2. Some very interesting items there. Would there be any possibility of the 7mm Onibury signal box being done in 4mm scale please? Clive.
  3. Mike, There is an article, with scale drawings of 0-8-0 Sentinel 10143 / Army 610 in issue 98 of Narrow Gauge & Industrial Review. Please get in touch of you'd like more info. Clive.
  4. Thanks for the heads up, you have a PM. Clive.
  5. Hi all, Probably a long shot, but does anyone out there have an OO Ian Kirk LNER Quint Art 5-car articulated set kit that they might be prepared to part with please? Regards, Clive
  6. Hi all, I was wondering if anyone has a Rosencombe Replicas Hymac 590 kit that they would be prepared to part with if possible. Many thanks, Clive.
  7. The IRS South West book agrees that the 0-6-0 Thomas Hill is TH 261 V of 1976. The dates given for it's hire spell at Whatley are 7/6/1987 until 9/7/1988. Clive.
  8. Invicta now have painted samples showing on their site; http://www.invictamodelrail.com/exclusive-models-117-c.asp So hopefully they're not too far away now. Price now showing as TBC though. I enquired about this at the Chatham show and the bad news is that they reckon they may be in the region of £35 now and at that level they wouldn't be able to honour the pre-order price without suffering a loss on these models.

  11. Looks like Shawplan have just released Laserglaze for the Hornby Sentinel; http://shawplan.wordpress.com/2014/04/ A vast improvement!
  12. Yes, it is at the Diesel Gala, they're in the Booking Hall at Swanage station. Sorry, no sign of any of the SR Utility vans though.
  13. In Bachmann's display cabinet at Swanage today was this....
  14. This little thing made me chuckle...... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/009-HOe-Scratch-Kit-built-DB-Railbus-locomotive-/310651735984?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4854494fb0
  15. Many thanks for the enlargement Ernie. Sixbellsjunction also lists Wadebridge to Wenford tours on 27th April 1963 'The Camel Valleyman' and on 31st October 1964, the 'Commemorative Steam Special' both hauled by 1369. The latest dated photo I can find of a railcar with whiskers (Branch lines around Bodmin) is of W55001 at Boscarne Exchange Platform on 24th July 1964. Freight services over the NCR ceased on 7th September 1964, so it's fair to assume this view is post this date. I just thought that Covhop's had been banished from Slate Dust traffic by this time. However with the forthcoming Bachmann model I'm certainly not complaining..
  16. Going back to slate dust traffic, have we had this picture before? http://www.flickr.com/photos/irishswissernie/5732822011/sizes/l/in/set-72157626748755256/ Presflo's and a Covhop at Wadebridge!

  19. A little bit of digging led me to this article on the Rolls Royce Sentinels from a 1968 Council of Industrial Design magazine; http://vads.ac.uk/diad/article.php?title=233&year=1968&article=d.233.43 Clive.
  20. Been doing a bit of measuring too, scaling the CAD against a scale drawing. Assuming Hornby have the length over bufferbeams right (??) that puts the model's wheelbase at 24mm. It should nominally be 26mm. The 'front' axle is in the right place, but the one under the cab is wrong. Also the ride height seems a little high...
  21. That's a useful and reassuring update from Simon Kohler, many thanks for that. (Can't see the flywheel either though....) Loads of prototype inspiration to be found here; http://www.flickr.com/groups/1814638@N20/pool/ It would appear that the side sheets were quite often removed when air brakes were fitted, the compressor etc went in a box alongside the bonnet although patterns varied, choose your prototype carefully.. Incidentally there were scale 4mm drawings of a 4w chain drive and 6w rod drive Sentinel in Railway Modeller June 1968.
  22. Well, it's nice to see progress with this model, but oh dear those axlebox covers are not good..... They should be like this; Not the massive thing they seem to have come up with. Perhaps that nice Mr Edge can do us some replacements from his kit?? The only view they look vaugely similar in is this of the Durham one; https://www.facebook.com/DurhamLocomotivePreservationGroup#!/photo.php?fbid=486493968064625&set=a.471510249562997.101076.424895680891121&type=1&theater Is this different, of just a wide angle close up? Then again I'm just nit-picking really, who'd have thought we would get this in RTR.
  23. IRS 'Locomotives of the Ministry of Defence' (1992 edn) gives the history of the two 4w Sentinels in MOD use as follows; 242 / 244 (Duplicate series) ROLLS-ROYCE 4wDH 255HP 242 RR 10242 1966 (running number carried from c /1986) (Rebuilt AB /1986) ex Thomas Hill, Kilnhurst, 6/4/1972; previously Manchester Ship Canal, DH28 Quedgeley; to Glascoed c9/76; to Caerwent 3/78; to Chilmark 5/82; to Andrew Barclay Kilmarnock, for overhaul 14/2/86; returned to Chilmark 5/12/86; to Radway Green, Alsager 17/2/92 244 RR 10244 1966 (running number carried from c /1986) (Rebuilt AB 6528/1987) ex Thomas Hill, Kilnhurst, 6/4/1972; previously Manchester Ship Canal, DH30 Quedgeley; to Marchwood 31/8/76; to Chilmark 12/3/79; to Andrew Barclay Kilmarnock, for overhaul 1/12/86; returned to Chilmark 22/6/87 Unfortunately I don't have details of what became of them beyond that.... The original Nos 242 & 243 were 150HP John Fowler 0-4-0 DMs built in 1939, No 244 was a 1963 Thomas Hill rebuild of a 1942 Fowler. Hope this helps, Clive.
