  1. without a link to see it, "gauging wagon" sounds like loading gauge which checks the width and height of structures surrounding the track like platforms and bridges
  2. just one thing im wondering is that the breach end needs more support under it because its heavier, a bigger saddle and another axle or 2 while this is a lot bigger its the only example ive got is from Royal Ordnance Coventry. note that the breach end has twice as many axles under it
  3. a few weeks ago, a angle pois type lamp arm sat on top of a full skip, i couldnt pass it by just like this but a bit rusty and missing head, foot and 2 springs put on the head from a little flexi stand lamp we're not using, had to shorten the cable length between the head and switch so it sits at the joint. it will be a good replacement for my current desk lamp
  4. ive got about 40 of those Deagostini "Combat Tanks" collection from about 15/16 years ago, but now im having a clear out and have 2 big cardboard boxes of these wasting space. this isnt a for sale post just wanting advice on the right places to look into about finding someone that might be interested in taking the whole lot off me (example photo off the internet, not mine)
  5. ive now found a bit about it using reverse image search which gives a Russian railway forum, "Molodets" at Odessa port in 1869 http://forum.modelldepo.ru/showthread.php?t=9850&page=35&styleid=32

  9. Eyemouth has been booked for Keighley O gauge show in March 2025 In other news, due to a few personal reasons, i have had to leave the club and so i am no longer involved with this layout. this will be my last post here. i could have not mentioned it but someone will likely ask why the thread has gone quiet if there isnt any posts for months
  10. 1906 inside Garston LNW creosote plant London & Birmingham carriage Doncaster 1848 Heysham docks LBSCR inspection railcar wagons at Hull docks, when did NE wagons have an "R"? Kalka station, interchange between the broad gauge mainline line and the narrow up to Simla
  11. spent most of today drawing, ive a gear train sorted but now need to decide on the framing for it and preparing gears; the larger gears are second hand 11mm Heljan, the middle 4 are 6mm cut in half and the 4 smaller cut off the side of a set of 16mm gears. not shown is the 4mm gear on the motor but i couldnt just get 1 so had to buy a pack of them
  12. for a long time ive been thinking of how to get the Moyse running after not being able to get the belt drive working since i built it 2 years ago quick recap since its been a while, the loco in question the old power arrangement of a N20+gearbox driven through bevel gears and then coupled by home made pulleys then last year i figured, the N20 motor would fit side ways in the middle with 2 equal gear trains either way to the axles But i didnt have any suitable sized gears to try out, which i do now. i had to get a new N20 motor as the right hand one has a very short shaft with a brass gear fixed on, so i'll leave t as it is to use on something else
  13. The Engineer 15-9-1871 Woolwich Arsenal with extra buffers, presumably for SG, though it likely didnt last long as all photos of Woolwich locos dont have them 1889 MW works photo without
  14. But that was on the north side of the road bridge, this is south
  15. ive just looked at the nls side by side OS, there's no tracks shown there on the south side of the road bridge
  16. sorry if this isnt the right place to put this i have just looked at the guild website to see the dates of the summer show to find that it has been moved down south, it was the only O gauge show near enough for me to get to and isnt there already quite a few o gauge shows down south? Now northern england doesnt have any shows is there anybody here also in the Guild forum? (i'm not a member) has it already been discussed over there and if management has given any reply as to why it moved so far?
  17. just remembered this thread and came back for research to it as ive recently been given an Edge kit
  18. this photo is from a 1937 Railway Magazine, captioned as a 1849 L&Y 2-2-2 which does look just like what was previously discussed about Welbeck re upload of previous images from before the great photo wipe
  19. One of these days i'll remember to start a UWLR thread on NGRM but maybe wait until ive started on one of the locos first
