  1. Just goes to show that if you contact the manufacturer they will sort it out! I trust Locospotter will now follow this line which should resolve his problem (As long as he does not expect compensation and his legal fees as well!).
  2. Latest info: Models now supposed to be @ Barwell, being repackaged into wooden boxes, staff working over weekend to allow dispatch to dealers next week in time for Christmas arrival @ dealers. However if you are purchasing mail order it is going to be very tight for the model to turn up in your Christmas Stocking!
  3. Actually the whole story is as follows; Bachmann announced the A2 models at their July Trade days in July 2008. At their New Year Show at a hotel in Leicester during February(?) 2009 they were in the catalogue along with the 2EPB. Bachmann invited trade orders and Graham Hubbard himself said that both the A2 and 2EPB would be out by Christmas. Some wit said words to the effect of "yes but which Christmas?" G H almost exploded with rage and said this Christmas. Well that was Christmas 2009 and the trade were lead to believe until very late last year that these models would be out for Christmas 2009, then early in the New Year 2010 etc etc etc. As of today I believe that the 2EPBs have regressed until into 2011 and the Blue Peter model who knows. I do not expect miracles nor am I interested in rushed models reaching the shelves with imperfections. All I ask is for Bachmann to now make a definitive statement as to when we can realistically expect to see these models. Why is simply telling the truth such a problem?
  4. I think you have rather mis-understood my comments. A model being delayed is not a disaster, especially when you take into account what is going on in the World!. What is a could be regarded as a disaster, as I stated in my post, is the Public relations effect this has caused. as another poster commented Bachmann did promise their dealer network that this model would be in before Christmas 2009, and with all the delays we are not now certain that it will be in this Christmas. Bachmann ( as with any business except banks )need the good will of both the buying public and their dealer network to succeed. What Bachmann need to do is to make an unequivocal statement as to what has happened and when the model will be released rather than all the rumour and counter rumour which have, in the main, been caused by themselves or their representatives. It may be frustrating for intending purchasers but a more important point, often overlooked, is the effect on our model shops by the delays by both main manufacturers this past year. Their sales will be down against predictions and, more importantly their cash flow may have been seriously affected. Delayed cash flow can kill businesses!
  5. I just feel that this whole issue is a Public relations disaster for Bachmann. They are generally excellent at model making but poor at marketing & PR. The real issue here is the lack of transparency between Bachmann, its dealer network and the Public. If only they made a simple, accurate and honest statement as to where they are with this model it would do a lot to restore the markets faith!
  6. Interesting! if it had not reached Barwell before why did they put it on their website and why were their reps. telling the dealers that it was in? A big thank you to Andy for obtaining the current truth, I sometimes feel that the way Bachmann go about things works against their own best interests.
  7. Anyone know what is going on with the model of Blue Peter now? It was alleged to be at Barwell 2 weekends ago for re-boxing into the wooden boxes and dispatched to the retailers around the 1st. Dec. It has now disappeared off the front page of Bachmann's website where it was shown as 'ready for delivery within the next few days' and only shows on the due next 60 days list. My retailer has contacted Barwell only to be met with a very tight lipped response to say ' We can't really say what is happening with this model, we are expecting them in shortly, you might see them in time for Christmas'. When he asked why he had been told they were at Bachmann at the end of November he was told again' we have been told not to make specific comments about this release'!
  8. Very tongue in cheek, I just hope the model is rather more reliable than the real thing and does not shake its self to pieces within a couple of months!
  9. One thought occurs with regard to the Model Rail test. Did they replace the screw after removing the front transit 'L' bracket? This screw must be replaced as it secures the plastic lower chassis cover with holds the axles and the front pony truck in place.
  10. I own one of each of the green L1s so far released. They have been run on my home layout, on a large club layout with some very complicated pointwork and even on some track (with points) just laid on floor tiles which was not pinned down an neither have de-railed at any time. All the above have some tight reverse curves (around 2nd. radius settrack) The locos are superb runners, powerful and can cope with 6 Mk. 1 coaches (Mixed Hornby and Bachmann) on a substantial gradient. I can only speak as I find, and currently that is as a VERY satisfied customer.
  11. Already have mine, very pleased, runs well and looks the part! I have all the others on order too.
