Durham & District Model Railway Society
ukmodelshops replied to durham_dan's topic in Club & Society Info
Tried contacting the secretary of this club several times between 2015 and 2018 but did not receive a response. Therefore I can only assume they have closed down. -
The Raymond Walley website has gone.

Is it possible to remove or correct out of date links in RMweb? For example I believe SD Mouldings There are several links to removed or changed pages in the Directory and I was wondering if it is possible to change them please. No worries if not it just means people will not be able to see the correct info. For example in topic 18653 I believe SD Mouldings closed down in 2015.

Starter kits, and kit to get started
ukmodelshops replied to Nova Scotian's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
Good news, following work last night and this morning, I have managed to amend the coding so that when the popup window is removed the links already provided will continue to work. What they do now is take you to the specific kit on the Judith Edge main page. Thanks to everyone who brought this to my attention as I was keen to ensure that those links were not broken. -
Starter kits, and kit to get started
ukmodelshops replied to Nova Scotian's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
It is because the system uses session variables. So when you are first sent to the main page the session variable is set thus allowing the the pop up page to appear when you go back to the link. Unfortunately it is not possible to make them separate pages but all the info required is on the main page anyway. The popup windows were an original idea to allow larger images to be displayed without taking up a large amounts of space on the main page. With the advent of systems such as Lightbox it is now possible to display larger images as an overlay. This has been done with many o -
Starter kits, and kit to get started
ukmodelshops replied to Nova Scotian's topic in Kitbuilding & Scratchbuilding
The reason it is happening that way is because the kits are on pop up windows and not specific pages. Hence the pop up pages only work from the Judith Edge main page. Just go to the main page and search down for the kit you wish to view. Please be aware that for security reasons these pop windows are scheduled to be replaced by the Lightbox system soon but I will ensure the old links are redirected to the main page. Hope this helps. -

Just want to say thank you to everyone who voted for the UK Model Shop Directory as Website of the Year. This reflects on all the many friends I have out there in all the Clubs, Societies and Businesses who support my work by sending in the information that keeps this hobby alive. Hi All, This information has only just been brought to my attention as sadly the organisers have failed to keep me informed despite the fact that I always send all submitters an acknowledgement email with a link where they can very easily keep the details and me updated. Failing that, as OldNick has said, a simple email is all that was required. It has now been marked as cancelled. What I want to know is why they couldn't keep me informed?

Steve, if you read this can you get in touch with me ASAP. Thanks. Best regards, Adrian Hall Exhibition Manager Sutton Coldfield Railway Society

British Model Railway Awards 2018 - The Winners
ukmodelshops replied to Andy Y's topic in Modelling musings & miscellany
Hi Folks, Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for the Directory as the Website of the Year 2018. As it happens the Directory is 20 years old on the 1st August this year as it was in 1999 that I first launched the website. And boy have so many things changed since then. In 1999 there were 627 bricks and mortar models shops in the UK and 11 of those offered Internet ordering or had some sort of internet presence. In 2019 we only have 352 bricks and mortar model shops left but we now have 258 eCommerce model shops, 77 of these being only on the internet -
Advance Notice - The Wishlist Poll 2018
ukmodelshops replied to BMacdermott's topic in Modelling musings & miscellany
Hi Brian, Would it be possible to add a Loco for future polls that is on my wishlist - the GWR 15xx class of Pannier locos. Seeing as how the 1361 class has now been done by two suppliers and that only had 5 members, the 15xx class seems ideal with double that number :-) -- Regards, Adrian Hall ---------------------------------- THE UK Model Shops Directory ---------------------------------- http://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk ---------------------------------- -
