  1. Was looking for some Oxford Diecast models that have generally sold out and found this retailer, who seems to have a huge range of Oxford Diecast vehicles, as well as other brands like Corgi etc. Not many trains but do have Oxford Rail. I found all the vehicles I was after in one place and arrived safely a few days after ordering. Worth a look for OOS items. No connection etc etc. www.elizkeith.com Turns out they exhibit at the Longfield Show so must have seen their stand when I have been there.
  2. Has anybody bought any of these https://www.model-space.com/gb/electric-locomotives-diecast.html and if so, are they any good, are they all metal and if so would they short out the track? I was thinking, background shed fillers. Simon
  3. My Sudrian China Clay operation needs a pair of Bagnalls. Hornby and Bachmann do 'Bill' and 'Ben' but they are very oversized compared to the real ones. Decided to try and make something from the ERTL diecast ones, which are teeny and much more appropriately sized. The main benefit is having the cab and tank shape. Die cast metal, as it turns out, is incredibly tough. Now I see why they use it for kids toys. anyway the bunkers need extending and lowering. This is it on a cut down Pug chassis from Peter's Spares. The boiler has been moved forward to allow the bunkers to be bigger. The front cab windows are just stickers so I'll replace the front plate with styrene.
  4. Does anybody remember diecast trains and models? I do. In fact, some models (be they big or small depending which scale you model) could nearly fit within the RTR models maybe as background locos or rolling stock. When it comes to diecast toy trains, most people would think of the original ERTL Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends models. There's also the Corgi Hogwarts Express locomotive from Harry Potter which is rather nice, but unfortunately, you don't get any coaches for it to pull along and recreate scenes from the films, most notably The Chamber of Secrets. Travelling back in time, we have Dinky's A4 models along with coaches - at least we have some rolling stock for the locomotives to haul. Matchbox has done some interesting train models which are nice. The 0-4-0 tank locomotive is rather interesting, but the GWR Pannier tank engine and the Dean Single are the most interesting models based on real-life examples. It's just a shame the Dean Single and Texas American 4-4-0 have no tenders or couplings or both or anything. Come to think of it, these models would be the same scale as the Tri-ang TT Gauge models and years later, bodies are being made for every chassis in said-scale being made. If I bought some custom-made TT Scale bodies, I would stick them onto free-wheeling chassis and try to make them compatible with the ERTL TTTE models or find some wheels and bits and such and give them a push-along feel to it like the Lone Star 000 trains.
  5. The Toy & Train Collectors Fair will be back at the Bakewell Agricultural Centre for 2 great events this year. The first of our events is this coming May Bank Holiday and promises to be even busier than last year with more tables, new exhibitors, "N" Gauge Working Layouts and fingers crossed, a few surprise guests. Once again taking place on the Showground next door is the Bakewell Spectacular which attracts a lot of visitors with their displays, etc and in my opinion both events compliment each other - those stallholders who stood last May will remember we were still selling at 4pm when we were trying to close. Interested in having a stall at this event? Call 07846772568 or email: [email protected]
  6. Hi, I am in need for a highways incident/motorway maintenance vehicle for my model railway. I would like it to be similar to this one; Would appreciate if anyone has any knowledge of a vehicle of this type that is available on the market. I have tried the google method but cannot find anything so far. My layout is set in present day so need a modern type vehicle. Many Thanks Martin

  11. My friend picked up this diecast 0-6-2T at an auction here in Canada and we have been unable to identify its make or type of loco that it represents (if any). It looks similar to an early Dublo N2 but there are some differences to the body and chassis. The motor drives the central axle rather than the rear axle of the Dublo N2 and there are no makers marks inside the body, The photos show it next to a Dublo N2 for comparison. Any help with the identification is greatly appreciated.
